Small room with a double bed (not Queen or King) so close to the wall, it was difficult to get into bed.

We spent 3 nights at the Kaibab Lodge while visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and I can honestly say, it was a hotel experience like no other. We left Kaibab Lodge in the morning to take in the sights and do some hiking. We returned to our room in the late afternoon to get ready for dinner. We open the door to our room and it was immediately obvious that our room hadn't been serviced by housekeeping. I took our wet towels to the front desk, explained our room had not been serviced and was told that housekeeping wasn't allowed by the state because of COVID! I got some dry towels and returned to my room. I had to go back to the front desk to get coffee for the coffee maker, because the supply wasn't refreshed by housekeeping. A different person was at the desk and explained that Kaibab Lodge was so remote, it was hard to get staff, so they don't offer housekeeping unless requested by guests. I got my coffee and requested housekeeping for the following day. The next afternoon when we returned to our room we found the room had not been serviced. Again, I had to take our wet towels to the front desk to exchange them and get coffee for the following morning. I only wish I would have been told this was the situation at the time I made my reservation, maybe my review would not be so harsh.

    The "full" dining area.

Audrey has it right. Maybe I'm just feeling stingy with the stars. Kaibab is smack in the middle of nowhere, halfway between Jacob Lake and the Grand Canyon north rim. Our room was a cabin quad-plex, complete with bed, table....and yeah, that's it. Bed and table. There is a coffee machine in the room, but the aroma of butt was very strong around it, so we avoided it. The shower has plenty of hot water which is good, although I had to wedge myself in it and just hope the water trickled down to everywhere I needed it. If you want to eat and don't want to drive 20 miles, there is a restaurant located on the premises, with odd hours of operation. You kind of have to get lucky. Coming off of a 5-hour drive we were hungry, but the place wasn't cooking anything. There is a gas station across the street with frozen food and a microwave if you really can't last any longer. Never had a chance to try the restaurant - the morning we left the place was half-full (see picture), but they turned us away and said that we'd have to wait at least half an hour, because the cook was so busy. Maybe the cook was 90 like the rest of the staff there. We drove up to the Jacob Lake Inn and had a nice breakfast on our way out of the area. Kaibab is horribly overpriced and has poor services. This is because there literally is only one other choice within an hour's drive of the canyon, and that place is even worse. The area is beautiful and worth a look, but my friend, be prepared to feel ripped off. They know they're the only game around.

The Kaibab Lodge is the perfect place to relax and enjoy one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It is just outside the park at the Grand Canyon's north rim. Here, you are free from cell phones and computers. However, the rooms are so clean and cozy that you forget that you're "roughing it". You can sit by the fire in the lobby and play one of the many board games they offer or watch TV. There is a gift shop, a bar and a fantastic restaurant. The breakfast chef, Gracie, was especially good. All of the staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and available. I was impressed. Far from the Arizona summer heat, you can focus on enjoying nature, watching the deer and bison and, of course, exploring the Grand Canyon. I loved it and I will go back.

Terrific view from our cabin door.
