They serve Guyanese-style Chinese food as well as traditional dishes such as chicken curry, dhal, etc. The consistency of quality and taste has remained the same over the years. Authentic and delicious. Their pepper sauce is not to be messed with! Portions are generous. Staff can be a little tricky to deal with but nothing worth documenting. The family friendly restaurant transitions into a high energy lounge at night with bottle service and hookah. A live DJ is usually present. We have ventured to the Borough of Queens for lunch and a great friend recommended Kaieteur Restaurant, Guyanese West Indian cuisine. The dinning room decor is simple and clean with deep red walls and large paintings. There is an outdoor dining area as well as a sports bar and lounge. Service was good and the server was a nice woman, warm and welcoming. The food was delicious. I ordered the chicken curry (for the Trini's, curry chicken ) with roti, hubby had the goat curry with Dhal puri and Shandy sorrel to wash it all down. So delicious. Have been on the hunt for good Guyanese Chinese food for a while and happy to report, I think I found it! Lol. Haven't been inside, have just ordered for pick up. Got jerk chicken lo mein and jerk pork fried rice. Both were delicious! What true Guyanese Chinese food is. Had the right amount of spice and flavor. My friend recommended we dine here as he is a frequent customer. As we talked in the hostess recognized him immediately and greeted us with a friendly smile and wished us all a nice Sunday. The 3 of us sat in the back and we were immediately joined by Kaaja our wonderful and super friendly server. She made our dining experience exceptional!! Jist to let you know, every suggestion she made was perfect. She has a very welcoming approach and I even chose the recommended drink she usually orders for herself. They need at least 5 more Kaaja working here!!! We had several appetizers including butter fish, spicy cut up wings. Their hot peppers are chopped hot spicy peppers which is unique than have the sauce of the peppers. We also had plantain fries!! Yes they cut the plantains to resemble fries!! All the appetizers were good. I had the house special fried rice that features chicken, shrimp, crabmeat, and either lamb or pork. It was in a brown rice that was really delicious!! It was very filing and enough to share with another person. The others ordered the surf and turf with jerk lamb. The vegetables were sauteed nicely and crispy. I did have 1 small piece that was hard but the reat was soft and good. Finally for dessert we shared a Gulam Jamun. The Seafood Combination consisted of fried fish, grilled shrimp, breaded shrimp, scallops, crab meat, fries, along with steamed veggies. I really enjoyed the fish, which was crispy, flaky, and well seasoned. The breaded shrimp was also tasty, with a wonderful crunchiness and great flavor. The crab meat was cooked perfectly and delightfully tender. The grilled shrimp were quite large in size, as well as juicy and succulent. The veggies were a nice, fresh component of the meal. Honestly this is the best place to get your favorite Guyanese-Chinese fusion. I come all the way from Brooklyn and it's always a family favorite. We always get their half and chicken with fried rice and my favorite chicken chow mein. Met up with my good friends for a few drinks. I will say that this was a very good experience for my first visit to a Guyanese restaurant. The staff were excellent and took really good care of us. Drinks came out fast as did the appetizer. This was our first time trying to roast duck and let me tell you.... The best roast duck in queens . I was surprisingly shocked that I had never tried it before!! The shrimp wontons were tasty as well ! we ordered a chicken fried rice which is a large portion that we shared. She was a doll, so patient, so kind and suggested I marry a Guyanese woman. One never knows, do one? Three bowls were set down infront of me, the third being the white rice, as I peered down upon what appeared too be a smallish quantity of food, as I dug in, the food kept coming, so my initial reaction was quite the opposite of the reality, priced a bit high though for lunch. We are visiting from Toronto and decided to give Kaieteur a try after visiting previously with family. Spacious location but horrible service and subpar food. We ordered veg lo mein, fried butterfish, chicken fried rice and roast pork. The pork and lo mein were OK but hands down avoid their chicken and fish. Everything was fried DRY making it difficult to eat. We had come to Kaieteur for lunch after a 8 hour drive to Queens so of course we were hungry. At the end of the meal we mention to the server that the fish was especially dry. We were NOT looking for anything but more to give the feedback. She comes back from talking to her manager and responds "I talked to my manager but considering you ate everything....". I cut her off there as we already predicted they'd come back with a comment along those lines. TYPICAL CARIBBEAN people....literally no customer service. There were so many ways to handle the situation, even just passing the comments to the chef or apologizing. Absolutely ignorant and we won't be returning or recommending this restaurant to family and friends in the area. I been coming here for over 7+ years and a regular customer but they officially lost my loyalty. Over the years, the quality and attentive customer care has slowly diminished over the years and it's truly sad how Kaieteur went awry. My last straw is the silly ticky tack up-charges. I placed an order on the phone. When I got there, I kindly asked the lady for two extra hot sauce packets then proceeded to pay and left. Didn't pay attention to the charge amount until I gotten to my car. That's when I realized she up-charged me an extra dollar for the extra condiments. I honestly don't care about the $1 charge, it's more about principal. This is a completely shady business practice and they need to be completely transparent and let customers know when there's extra charge(s) for things like condiments and not try to nickel and dime their customers. It's a large container of food and they are very stingy and provide only one condiment per order. This is 2019, courtesy and kindness goes a long way for restaurants which many other places offer condiments at no extra charge. Kaieteur needs to remember it's the people that make their business operable and need to be more of a class act to their loyal customers read more

I've visited another place not far from here with a similar name thinking they were affiliated, but it's not. Came in and noticed a grand space which kinda reminds me of a cheesy catering hall. In actuality they do private parties here as well. I read on Yelp they have a good lunch menu so I decided to try them out. The lunch price ranges from $5.25 to $5.50 but the price is only for take out. Okay, so what did I order. I had the jerk chicken fried rice $5.25 and the spicy boneless Chow Mein $5.50. Let me tell you the food was dabomb.com. My husband and I like to get different meals so we can share. We could've added another couple with the amount of food they served. I dont want to say that too loud before they start serving less. My favorite was the jerk chicken. It was boneless and so flavorful! Ugh, I might go back this week it was that good. They'll give you 1 tiny pepper sauce per $14 order and charge 50 cents each after, which is frankly outrageous for West Indians, who eat pepper sauce by the gallon. The place itself is nice. The food was HORRIBLE. Nothing was fresh or cooked at the time of order. The curry had obviously been taken out of the refrigerator and re-heated. The meat in it was tough and rubbery. The roti was stiff, not to mention tiny. Guyanese roti is supposed to be flaky and nice. This looked and tasted like dried plaster. One part of it was hard as a rock. I agree with the reviewer below who wrote, "Cook my food when I order it!" I've been coming to this place for years and I've NEVER had an issue. My go to orders are chicken Chow-Mein, chicken fried rice and the pepper shrimp. Every time I visit the service is on point and whomever accompanies me raves about how good the food is. My mom can't get enough of the food here...LOL! This place is huge! One side is the restaurant and the other side is the bar area. They keep it well maintained. Parking can be a bit of an issue at times.
