Late lunch at Hau Tree resto

This spot is truly a hidden treasure. It sits right on the beach andgenerally quieter than the main drag of Waikiki - at least on the ocean side. Albeit, I heard folks who stayed on the mountain side woke up to roosters. The restaurant downstairs is delicious with some unique not to miss dishes. Just make sure you have reservations or go at a non-peak time. I really enjoyed the free lei making class with Kara. They also have other classes but just make sure you sign up in advance. You can see the fireworks show on Fridays from here. Free towel service and reef friendly sun block at the front desk. Overall, great experience and plan to return! Aloha

The Kaimana Beach Hotel is a great option for a low key resort experience. It is a charming, locally owned hotel that is just outside the bustle of Waikiki. They don't have some of the amenities people might be expecting, such as a gym, pool, or continental breakfast. They do offer some fun cultural events (like lei making, hula, stand up paddle boarding, etc.) and host local artists for live music some afternoons. We've stayed in both a regular room and a junior suite. Their regular rooms are quite small but were perfectly adequate for us for a few nights. The junior suite was spacious and had an amazing lanai and ocean view - all of which comes at additional price, of course. Kaimana Beach is just steps outside the hotel, and the resort fee will get you beach chairs and towels. There's sunscreen available in the lobby if, like me, you forget to bring your own. I've seen this hotel described as boutique in several reviews, and I think this is the right word for it. If you come in expecting an all-inclusive resort, you're likely to be disappointed. If you're looking for a quiet hotel with great views, beach access, and plenty of aloha, then you should consider the Kaimana Beach Hotel for your stay.

This restaurant is located with the hotel. It has great view of the beach. Food is good.

Jamie W. and I stayed at not one but two hotels on our recent holiday in Honolulu. The first was on the 30th floor of the nicely appointed Prince Waikiki close to Ala Moana (review: https://bit.ly/3LxxAfn). We stayed four nights there because the fourth night was free, Then we came here beyond the other side of Waikiki for the remaining three nights to save some money. You can tell where this story is going. We reserved a room with a Diamond Head View, and for $279 per night (vs. $400 at the Prince Waikiki), it was a much smaller room with a Queen bed (photo: https://bit.ly/3lj7qlN) and a very small bathroom. Indeed it had the view though not as dramatic as I was hoping since we were just on the 8th floor (photo: https://bit.ly/3mRy0CK). However, the feeling of claustrophobia was not just limited to the room. The hotel lobby and bar area also felt crowded and quite dated. It was built in 1963, and it definitely had that retro-vintage feel in the furnishings and the wall art. Normally I would enjoy such quaint surroundings, but somehow the combination of old-fashioned and relaxing wasn't quite working. The front desk staff were not particularly full of aloha as they were selective who they welcomed. Apparently we didn't make the cut. The one true upside was direct access to the beach, and just being away from the crowds on Waikiki was a blessing (photo: https://bit.ly/3JqsE98). That holds true for the hotel's slightly remote location which definitely added to our step count. RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? This fine boutique hotel is first rate for accommodations, activities, food, drink and live entertainment. I spent a week in heaven. Many thanks Kaimana Beach Hotel. Aloha

We just came back from amazing 5 day trip, used Costco Travel to book it.At that time they had the best rates. We opted to upgrade to ocean from room, wise choice! Our daughter and her friend had the City View room it was very small but nice and clean. The little balcony offered a peekaboo of the ocean, you have to walk outside and look for it.They didn't even know it was there until I pointed it out . We love the bar and enjoyed our cocktails (I recommend the espresso martini). We also made reservations for Hau Tree reservation, food and view was excellent! I think some of the bad reviews are for some of other rooms that perhaps look over parking lot. This location was PERFECT for us.A 15-20 minute walk to center of Waikiki and decided to walk to our hike at Diamond Head,it was 2.4 miles. We felt it was worth it to avoid the crazy traffic getting into the park. I was worried my daughter and friend (both 21)would think their city room was too small and location not central enough for them but they loved it and are dying to come back! They Uber'ed or walked everywhere. They stayed at Beachcomber Hotel last visit, had a great time but thought beach in Waikiki was crazy busy. They felt pampered having the Kaimana Beach steps away from our hotel and loved swimming next to the friends friendly seal who hangs out there. Just a warning about Costco Travel-their website claims it offers a $100 food/beverage credit however when I asked hotel clerk they said it was not part of our package.I'm in process doing a chargeback of $100 with my credit card. We look forward to coming back next year(but not with Costco lol)can't wait!

My second stay here! The first time was when it was still The New Otani. It has now been renovated and has new owners. My stay was fantastic just like the first. The only difference this time is the place has a new vibe and updated new decor. Everything else is the same which is good! Staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean and modern. This hotel area is also very safe & quiet. If you prefer to be in a more busier area then this isn't it. I walked every evening to the busier Waikiki area and it only takes about 15 minutes. Some helpful pointers: 1. Valet is $40/night. Save your $ and park next door at the beach area. It's very easy to find a spot early morning or towards the evening. If you decide to park across at the meters then it's free after like 6pm. I had no issues finding parking during my stay. 2. There are Electra bikes for you to use! First come first serve. They're a little old but they work. 3. Beach access is the main reason why this hotel is great. The beach is at the end of Waikiki. It's a lot quieter and cleaner!

Yesterday, the wife and I went on our first staycation in well over a year. Unfortunately, it was only a 1-nighter... we would've stayed longer but the wife couldn't get off of work for more than a day. The wife requested that we stay at Kaimana Beach Hotel for the view and to see how everything looked after their last renovation. I don't know what to say. It just wasn't anything special. We got an ocean view room that was priced at a little over $400 a night. With the numerous taxes and valet parking (the only option) it was close to $500 for a single night. The staff were friendly and efficient and there were no complaints there. But the facilities and rooms just seemed so rundown. Stains on the bedding, stains on the walls, stains/dirt everywhere. There were several flying pests that visited us throughout the night. The mini fridge had standing water on the bottom shelf.... presumably from ice melting in the internal freezer. The ice bucket had a tiny hair in it. And the room had the bare minimum amenities-- no bottled water, NO CUPS, and tiny bottles of toiletry articles. The room had a decent view and we were happy to try something new. But we likely wouldn't come back here again.

*** PARKING INFORMATION *** My stay was (9/9/23-9/16/23) I'm not going to get into all the positive and negative about this hotel. You can check out other reviews about that. But I will give you information about parking. No other post had said anything so I will fill in the blanks. The hotel does NOT have free parking at all. Hotel related: only Valet for $40 a day. That's the only option. But I learned how to park around here with my rental. If you park on Kalākaua Ave, which is the street that the hotel is on, you can park on that street. There are two side of the street to park on. On the hotel side are hourly parking (free). On the park side of the street are meters. The meters are the old school style coined operated. There are NO app or credit card options, that may change in the future but as of this post it's still coins. The meters run from 10am-6pm everyday but free on Sunday. Parking at the meters has a 4hr max limit, so expect to move your car if you are not going out. Don't miss paying because the metermaids do patrol and do give out tickets. The current rate is ¢25 for every 30 minutes. If you need coins, the hotel does provide change. Just ask the front desk to break some dollars for you. Don't worry about parking availability, there is always parking. And more so after 6pm (everyone at the beaches start to leave). Also on the hotel side of the street there are no meters but do have a 2hr limit parking. If you are lucky, just to the left of the hotel, in front of the Lotus hotel, are two all day parking spots with no limit or cost. The sign that should be there has been long since missing. But always check. Everything is subject to change, signage and cost. So make sure that all the signs are good. I live in San Francisco where parking and ticketing for parking is notorious. The policy for parking is that you are responsible for up to 150 feet of signs in both directions. Now, I don't know what the policies and rules here in Waikiki are, but that's how I viewed it and didn't get a ticket when I parked in the lucky spot. Hope this helps. Side note of why my 3 stars: -Small bed -Didn't like the bathroom door that was more like a window blinds. So yea... my lady heard my farts and smelled my number 2s. There was no vent in the bathroom. After the first time, I started using the lobby bathroom all week. -Couldn't get reservations for my own hotel's restaurant. It was booked out for 3 weeks after my stay. But when you can get the food it's really good just expensive. But whatever you're in Hawaii. GET the "crab tagliatelle"!!!!! THAT WAS FIRE!!!! My lady got the squid ink campanelle, it was good. -the air conditioner needs to be cleaned. -and of course the parking.

Hotel offers different types of pillows in the room and spare blanket in armoire. Also in the armoire is hangers, an ironing board and steaming iron, which came in handy for those wrinkled linen shirts mashed in my suitcase. The Bathroom. - one sink with a little counter top space but sufficient. The toilet was also bidet in the master bath. The shower pressure on 21st is ok but low, but it did the job. The Ac in room was awesome! It gets super cold, if you need it, quickly. It was nice for those hot humid days of walking in Waikiki. It had an In-room mini fridge and bar sink with 4 real drinking glasses, which I like. Hated there was no freezer in the mini fridge But the bell hop station offers to freeze ice packs, or whatever you need, for you. We had 3 sliding doors with west views and moderate views of Waikiki beach. The Second bedroom has own bath with also a single sink, toilet and shower- No bidet. The room/bedding/bathrooms were clean with no mold in the showers. The furniture showed a little wear but nothing excessive. The Elevators were fast! The pool, mangers reception and breakfast are all on the 4th Floor (terrace level). Breakfast was typical of Embassy Suites, I like the made to order omelette which makes it much better. Lots of fresh fruit and even some miso soup and other Japanese/Hawaiian offerings. The Staff was awesome and super friendly. I Used valet every day. Great service, fast and practical IMO but hard to swallow the daily fee. The hotel was attacked to the Waikiki beach walk. Island vintage coffee was a regular stop for coffee and sometimes breakfast. Order coffee or food to go online after 8am to save a ton of time standing in line. Hotel was Very close to all ththe shops. Awesome location. Much better location than Hilton Hawaiian village location!!! Our fav restaurant close by the hotel was Kana Pilla and Monkey Pod, which were across the street. Make sure to make Open Table reservations for both way ahead of time. I did mine 2 months out. Housekeeping willing to clean and supply new towels daily however linens are not cleaned but every 5 day, unless you request it, which they are happy to do! Views from 21st floor were awesome and all 21st floor rooms had extensive balconies. 3 sliding doors. Keep in mind Ac doesn't work, yes the fan blows, when the doors are open!! It's too humid at night to sleep with them open so we had them open for select times, mostly am. There's a Washer/dryer laundry room on site, 3rd floor only. It was Very convenient especially packing 4 days of clothes for a 10 day trip so our suitcases weren't stuffed . Use laundry room on sundays/mon or late evenings when people are too busy arriving and leaving. $5.25 to each wash load and I think $4.75 to dry. Washers only wash with cold which I like. Perm press on dryer seemed to dry all our shirts and socks well. We hung our nice Aloha shirts on the hangers in the room and they dried within a day. Washer and dryers take credit cards. Yes they're is a soap machine that also takes credit cards. I didn't use and just bought soap from ABC. ABC stores are EVERYWHERE so don't lug around suntan lotion or waters in your suitcase. Just buY at ABC which is only 20 steps away. FYI ABC doesn't no GIVE out bags for items unless you spend over a certain amount. ANC bags cost like .50 cents. ABC has Awesome poke and alcohol (spirit and beer) choices. Yes single purchase tall beers too. Don't forget the free brief fireworks show in front of the Hilton Hawaii Village on Friday nights only. We saw them set off at 7:45p by the lagoon. It's amazing how many people attend so be prepared for the crowds to and from. Big tip: make open table reservations for all your restaurants months ahead! All places are super busy until about 8:45 pm on most nights. Hope I helped.

WORDS TO DESCRIBE Halepuna Hotel: Modern, clean, safe, economically and environmentally friendly (bamboo room cards, water dispensers for your reusable water bottles), bright, airy, quality service in hospitality and room service LOCATION I loved staying at the Halepuna Hotel. It was centrally located at the beach walk, so ABC Store, shops, restaurants, and the beach were all within walking distance. *It was difficult finding the location of the hotel, when we first arrived. There was no big sign that you can spot, while you're driving, so my landmarks I always looked for were the ABC Store and Denny's. STAFF/SERVICE: Everyone that we came across during our stay was very friendly, generous, kind, and attentive. A shoutout to the Valet Service crew, especially RJ. He gave us recommendations for where to go. He always made us smile and laugh with his jokes. Thank you Uncle! AMENITIES: ROOMS Our room was equipped with charge stations-usb and usb c compatible plugs, ironing board/iron, mini fridge, ice bucket, tea kettle, and coffee maker. BATHROOM Well stocked with towels, a drying cord, blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I appreciated that instead of your standard toilet, the hotel had bidets! *Great water pressure for showering. The tub was also spacious, if you wanted to take a bubble bath. 8TH FLOOR GYM-Equipped with a lot of machines Water dispenser Additional restrooms/shower room LAUNDRY ROOM is open 24/7 There are 3 washers and 4 dryers You can pay using your credit card or download the WASH CONNECT app *Friendly suggestions: -As a guest, bring your own laundry soap/dryer sheets--or go to the ABC Store if you forget your laundry supplies -Make sure to clean the lint trap before you put your clothes in -Put a timer on your phone to check on your clothes GARDEN -Serene, tranquil, peaceful, spacious -------- Friendly Suggestions for Halepuna Hotel -Have a big sign stationed outside the hotel, perhaps elevate the height of the sign and add lights to it, so it's easy to spot for first time visitors ------- All in all I enjoyed staying at the Halepuna Hotel. Once my room became available I dropped off my luggage and then went directly to the beach. When I returned I did notice some areas of concern where the room was not very well cleaned. Instead of calling housekeeping I went directly downstairs to the front desk. Front desk personnel were busy as there were only 2 people assisting the long line of quests. I decided I'll just deal with the room uncleanliness later. Please be advised that I did take pictures. Once I checked out on Sunday, March 8th, I advised the front desk personnel my concerns. The manager Ira listened to my concerns as I showed her my pictures. She immediately apologized and ask that I email the pictures to their corporate office. Which I did once I arrived back to the mainland. In the room there's a finger or toenail clipping on the carpet between the console and couch. Also you can also see that portion of the carpet has not been vacuumed. The clothed bench in front of bed was extremely stained and filthy. So filthy that I covered the bench with a bath towel if I needed to sit down. Also the refrigerator was very dirty. I chose not to put any food items in the fridge because of this. Also the bottom of the toilet is stained with either fecal matter, urine or maybe it's rust. If so, clean it then use caulking. These are the concerns I have with room 403. Hopefully I'll be hearing from upper management in regards to my unpleasant stay in room 403. The best part of staying at this hotel was the show Auana which is located at this hotel. Needless to say I will not stay at this hotel again.

However, on my most recent trip, I decided to try the Hyatt Regency, thinking the lounge access and more resort-style atmosphere might be a better fit for my elderly parents. We booked three rooms for our family, and I can confidently say that this stay completely changed my perspective and that is largely thanks to Grace at the front desk. From the moment we arrived, Grace went above and beyond to make sure our check-in experience was seamless and welcoming. Traveling with elderly parents can sometimes be challenging, but she handled everything with such patience, warmth, and genuine care. She was incredibly attentive to our needs, thoughtfully ensuring that our rooms were convenient and comfortable for everyone in our group. What truly stood out was her ability to make us feel valued not just as guests, but as people. Her professionalism was matched by her kindness, and it was clear she takes great pride in creating a positive experience for those she helps. She anticipated needs we hadn't even expressed and handled every detail with ease and grace. Because of her exceptional service, what was meant to be a one time stay at the Hyatt Regency has completely changed my preference moving forward. Grace's hospitality exceeded all expectations and made our trip that much more memorable. It's rare to encounter someone who leaves such a lasting impression, but Grace absolutely did. She is a true asset to the Hyatt Regency, and I sincerely hope she receives the recognition she deserves. I will definitely be returning and recommending this property to others because of her.

Unfortunately, the first…read moretwo days of our trip were heavily impacted by severe weather--it was raining cats and dogs and apparently the worst storm in decades. During that time, the property experienced a loss of power and water, and the elevators were not working, which made things quite challenging. That said, once the weather cleared, we were able to appreciate what the hotel had to offer. We had booked two adjoining oceanfront rooms, and the view was beautiful when the skies opened up. Waking up to the ocean right outside our window made it all worthwhile. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but the front desk, maintenance team, and all the staff members we interacted with were all very friendly and really helpful despite the difficult circumstances. Their positive attitude made a big difference in our stay. The location is def a huge plus, lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance, making it super convenient. The pool is a bit small and tends to get crowded, but it was heated, which was nice, and we really enjoyed the SWIM bar and restaurant. The food and drinks there were surprisingly good but they have a new menu so I was disappointed I didn't get to try some of the items I saw on the Yelp reviews . Overall, the service, location, and beautiful oceanfront views made our stay very enjoyable.

I love that it is in the heart of Waikiki, very walkable to shopping and nightlife should you want to leave the grounds of the resort. The nightly local music with hula under the sky is magical. La Mer is a one of a kind French experience and Orchids is fantastic for any meal of the day. Just outside the hotel is a delightful oceanfront park where the hotel hosted yoga each day. A highlight for me. Great poolside service. The beach is small, so if you are looking to lounge on the beach, that's not really much of an option. This hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. So you know it has the highest standards. That brand has never steered me wrong. And the fact that it is not under a massive hotel chain umbrella means it can maintain its authentic individuality. Pro tip: if you have a late flight, there is a lounge where you can relax and prepare for your departure, as check out is 11am.

The restroom is in the restaurant area. I never once left the restaurant throughout the entire evening. I was simply on my way to pick up my drink from the seating area and then head to the bar to pay. He told me I was "going the wrong way" when the way I was going would have led to me to the bar... The way this team handles tabs in this bar is abysmal. Right when I sat down, I was attempting to give my bartender my credit card to start a tab. They refused to accept my card and said don't worry about it, and that they'll take it after I'm done. I explicitly told the bartender that I was going over to the lawn right next to the bar (still in the restaurant area) to get a better view of the musical performance, drink in hand. They said go ahead. Nobody should be treated like this

Great location, very accessible to stores and the beach, and also secluded in a sense you're not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. We came as a family of three. Not only did they gave us a warm welcome, but they provided plenty of accommodations for our baby. A baby robe which was the cutest, but also a diaper genie baby bath tub and toiletries. We were so impressed! The room views were amazing and our room was upgraded which was a super plus! Breakfast was amazing! Our favorites were their mochi pancakes. They did have construction during our stay, but nothing to really get in our way. The service and accommodation were amazing! Thank you for our great stay Ka La'i! See you hopefully soon!

The service is warm and genuinely friendly. One area that still needs improvement is the elevator--it could be much quieter, and the system would benefit from modernization, particularly allowing floor selection at the entrance. Renovations are still ongoing, so access to the pool is limited. That said, the pool itself is small. If a large or resort-style pool is a priority, this may not be the best choice, and you may want to look elsewhere. What I truly love about this place is the "calm." It's ideal if you want a quiet stay and plan to spend most of your time relaxing in your room from the lanai.
