A very good sushi place in Minnetonka. We aren't on either coast, but Kai's does it well. Always fresh with great noodle options too (Udon and Raman). Plenty of other really good options too for your non loving sushi family and friends. We always get great friendly service and the prices are very fair. Our go to place for sushi and we always come back.

We were looking for a quick lunch while out running errands. Stopped in here and I am really glad we did. The place is tactfully decorated and it was very clean. My husband got the hibachi chicken. He said the miso soup was the best he's ever had. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the vegetables were so fresh. I got the Jenny roll and it was really good. A good balance and the fish was very fresh. The server was very attentive. We will definitely be back with friends.

I love this place, there's this very nice host that works there named Mateo, he's the best! And don't even get me started with Wendy, she's the nicest person I've ever met!

Went there last night for the first time. Service was very efficient. Pot stickers were good, a lil more doughy than I would prefer. Egg rolls were really crispy and good. The Minnetonka Roll had lobster, it was good. The Golden California Roll was ok, just a CA roll deep fried. I wish they would have left it in the fryer a lil longer. Bathrooms were clean.

Found this gem of a place after 2 failed attempts at finding a place for dinner. This turned out for the best because this place is awesome. Great service and the food is legit. From the sake, to the rolls, everything hit the spot. Went here with a buddy and we were warmly welcomed by our server. She even recommended some great places to try in the future. When I'm in town I would certainly love to come here again. Give it a shot!

We didn't like the ramen, and the service was ok. Additional parking in the back, we asked a guy on his break if we could enter to the restaurant through the back door but he didn't say anything to us. Not the best way to treat customers, but hey everything isn't for everybody.

Got there right when it opened and had fast service! Brought our two kids and the staff helped grab cheater chopsticks to start. Clean and nice atmosphere. The lunch specials are amazing! Stop, go there for lunch TODAY! It was our first time and the food did not disappoint. Everything we had was flavorful and we even had leftovers. I would recommend the boxes if you are looking for variety and don't want sushi. My wife got sushi and we ate it before I could take a picture. Enjoy!

I know not to expect much eating sushi in the midwest when coming from San Francisco but was recommended this place and saw the reviews so I decided to give it a try. I was let down. The two main things that didn't do it for me was the rice and the need to drench everything in (unagi) sauce. The rice was hard and just didn't taste right. I'm surprised because it seems like they have good enough traffic where the rice shouldn't taste like it's a day old, especially by dinner time. As for the sauce, I have never had salmon belly sashimi, or any sashimi served with sauce on top. I was surprised and confused when they brought it out. It wasn't horrible but definitely super unnecessary and ruined the point of enjoying sashimi. Service was good and staff were very nice. I just didn't really care for the sushi, but the cooked beef teriyaki was tasty.

Craving for sushi - more specifically nigiri - after work, and wanting to try a new sushi spot, I stopped by Kai's Sushi and Grill. I got the Beef Tataki, Fatty Tuna Nigiri (Toro), and the Sushi Platter with California Roll and Miso Soup. The Beef Tataki was not the usual thin slices of beef. It's an actual whole steak, but more on the thinner size of steaks. The exterior had a crisp and slight char texture. The middle: moist, beefy, and medium rare. The tataki sauce was not as citrusy, vinegary, and strong in flavor as the usual tataki sauce. However, that's not a bad thing. The sauce was still good and not overpowering the beefy flavor. This was delicious. I would reccomend getting it as the appetizer. The California Roll and Miso Soup that came with the Sushi Platter is what you'll expect. Not bad. Pretty good. And they do their job. The sushi platter consisted of 10 nigiri. Man, these nigiri are so good. You can tell the fish cuts are good quality. Since I have a shellfish allergy, my nigiri were: 2 Salmon, 3 Tuna, 2 Yellow Tail, 2 Snapper, and 1 Albacore. They were all superb. My favorite was the Albacore, but again, they are all good. The Yellow Tail had the more natural chewy texture. The rest was more naturally fatty and had a bit of a delicate and slight melt in your mouth affect (some more delicate than others). The Fatty Tuna (Toro)? Sheesh it was delicious too. It also had the delicate and slight melt in your mouth affect. Although it was delicious, the nigiri from the sushi platter I would say would be on the same par. The service was good. The waitress was cool and engaging. This may be one of my go-to sushi spots. The best in Minnesota? I'm not sure. But good quality and delicious sushi? Definitely. I will be craving for Kai Sushi & Grill and may be tempted to stop by often. You definitely won't go wrong here.

Such a fun and unique spot. I love the Japanese-Peruvian fusion concept here…read more We had the udon saltado and it was hands down the best udon I've ever had. The noodles were perfectly cooked and almost melted in your mouth, and the broth was incredible. Our server recommended the Mancora roll, which ended up being delicious, and the salmon tiraditos were phenomenal. Super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. The spicy tuna roll was really good too, but definitely has a kick, so just a heads up if you're sensitive to spice. The drinks are also a highlight. The cocktails are fun and the pisco options are a cool change from your typical menu. Service was great. Friendly, helpful, and gave solid recommendations. Parking is easy with street parking and nearby lots around Hopkins, which is always a plus.

TLDR: Food good, drinks excellent, service problematic, prices high…read more Now, let's dig in. This is NOT a review for dinner, this is a review for sitting at the bar, having some nibbles and drinks, and learning what they do and how they do it. Food: The ceviche is genuinely solid. It is not a large portion for the price point, but, the leche de tigre is a good balance of coconut, sweetness, and lime, the fish is fresh, and if you ask for it spicy, there are good hot peppers on it, The fried yuca, meh. It's OK, it's yuca, it's fried, it soaks up pisco. the sauce served with it should fall upon its sword. Drink: I really appreciated the chance to try multiple piscos, distilled from the same grape, but with different terroir. I could taste it and that was super cool. Also, I tried out the chica sour and I am modestly convinced that the sours are the way to go here, my reason for wanting to come back is those cocktails. Lovely foam, great sour/sweet/booze balance, I could drink several of these (and I SHOULDN'T, this is the suburbs and I have to drive). Service: I sat down at the bar and nobody gave me an actual MENU until the third time they asked "do you need anything?" and then I pointed out that you have to give the guest a menu if you want him to order stuff. Bro. Also, when I ask for a water without ice, maybe you shouldn't put ice in it? You know, just a thing, not a complex recipe? This is kinda remarkable bc they have 4 ppl behind the bar, at 5pm, at the time I'm typing this. This is not an understaffed establishment. Does nobody here understand basics? And finally, OK, price. Yes, I am in Hopkins, it has very wealthy white ppl, I know. But wow, I had two appetizers and two drinks and I;m in for $80? Perhaps this is reasonable bc fish, but only one of those 4 things had fish in it. I am fairly confident that we are playing the "white people don't know, charge them all the dollars" game, and I am annoyed that this means that I as brown people can't come back here reliable. That is a pity bc there is good stuff above I want to explore.

I've given this place three chances and the third chance just really pissed me off…read more I ordered a curry rice bowl with karaage. The karaage was spongy and mushy, not crispy like properly fried chicken is supposed to be. But the rice? That was the fkn worst part of it. They served me old rice that was dry, hard, and mostly in one clump. Like you guys couldn't serve me fresh rice? Do you guys even make fresh rice? You enter right where you order, so usually you have to go around people in tight quarters. I'd recommend ordering online because there isn't a ton of waiting space for to-go orders. They have a mixed menu of American and asian, so they have something for everyone. I tried the curry udon noodle soup with fried chicken and the Philly roll. The soup was alright! Very strong curry with a slight kick but nothing spicy. I'm not the biggest fan of udon noodles because of the texture but it fit well with the broth. You get a huge portion size as well. The Philly roll was nothing special and the salmon was warm (I like it chilled). Prices are cheap and who doesn't love that! I love their menu and want to come back and try some other things!
