I was at the Plymouth library tutoring today with my two friends and we learned about anatomy and I learned about interpersonal communication, the way that this ties into the restaurants to Kara is because we got seated by a lovely waiter named John. He's from California and we tried to California roll and a bunch of other good ones including the Yum Yum roll. This restaurant creates a really warm and wonderful environment with good energy. I had some of the best conversations in my life here at this table with my friends and the way that John was able to help us was quite remarkable. He gave us everything we needed and more, and it is super accommodating in the way that he does everything in his job. He deserves a raise more than anybody on this earth. The service was pretty good and very consistent. The area seemed pretty clean. Cucumber roll(not pictured)- tasted like store bought sushi. Not very good. Mexican roll- really good. Has some kick to it with the jalapeños! Yum yum roll- it was ok! Out of control- if you like deep fried rolls, this one is a good choice! Adequate Japanese food for a great price! I've had better sushi elsewhere, but the value more than makes up for it. Hibachi has good meat, flavorful fried rice, and ok veggies. I thoroughly enjoy the Pork Katsu Bento and sub out miso soup for onion soup at no extra charge. The restaurant is clean with nice furniture and somewhat dim lighting. At first glance, we thought this place was closed. The open sign was off and was hanging on by one chain and all the curtains were closed. We tried the door, it was open, yay! The sushi bar was closed, like we couldn't sit at the counter, so we got a booth. The restaurant was clean but I feel like the kitchen was louder than the restaurant. We could hear dishes being cleaned the whole time since there was only a tapestry for a door to the kitchen. They have all you can eat for around $30/person but we decided that it would be cheaper if we just ordered a couple rolls and some apps. We got the fire roll and the Mexican roll (~$12/roll). Both were good but the jalapeños liked to slide out. Crab rangoons and fried rice were delish. Our server was new, didn't know much about the menu, and was missing for 10 min when we asked to have our check. She apologized when she returned and said she was very busy (she came out with a whole cart full of food for other tables with our check, I think it was all the "all you can eat" which is why she was busy) . Overall, it was fine and our bill came out to only $40, which was cheaper than the all you can eat for 2 people! read more

Quality is what you would expect for all you can eat. However, service here can be super slow so factor in extra time, especially if they are busy. Overall, it's clean in here but dimly lit. We are AYCE fanatics in our house, so we were really excited to try out Takara Sushi. Service is very quick and our server was so friendly - she came and took our order very quickly and food came out really quickly as well! Anyone that frequents AYCE knows that portion sizes are small (typically 1 piece of sashimi or nigiri per order) and 6-8 pieces per sushi roll. It's perfect, though, to try different things out and not waste or end up with too much of things that aren't your favorite. The sashimi and nigiri were great! Fried tempura specialty rolls were okay - we'll stick to the non-fried rolls as we liked the texture more. Ambience and decor is nice and clean! I am a sucker for AYCE sushi. After some humbling experiences with bills that read as long as the Declaration of Independence, I have calmed myself to eat more reasonable portions. I like the concept and Takara does it right. The menu spans appetizers, salads, teriyaki, all the types of sushi, noodles, rice and dessert. Although portions of some of the food may seem small, they are exactly right IMO as there is enough to sample but not waste and the attentive wait staff is always there removing plates and offering to order more. I had a bunch of small plates and then my sushi was three different hand rolls. Yum, so good and full! The restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean. Bathrooms were modern. Cost at this visit for dinner was $31 which is reasonable. There would be more pictures if I hadn't dug into them when they arrived. This place is one of my favorite places to go for its food but the service most of the time is absolutely horrendous. We waited one whole hour to get served and the server had terrible attitude. Wish I could take money away from her tip. I come here often with friends and they treat kids terribly, just because we look young doesn't mean we won't tip or act proper. Takara Sushi was decent sushi. The rolls were good, but I found that many times they would unroll when I would pick up a piece and it would go all over the place. They had a decent variety of rolls as well. The Nigiri and Sashimi piece were much smaller than I have had at other sushi restaurants in Mpls, but still quite good. The portion size on all the side items were also on the smaller size, hence you had to order many to feel like it was worth it. The service was excellent though, our waiter was very kind and helpful, and the kitchen did a nice job of getting the food out to you quickly. The overall decor of the restaurant was very nice on the inside, but walking up to the place I was certainly wondering what it would be like inside. If you're new to sushi, this is a good starter place, but I don't think I would be venturing back myself anytime soon. read more

Takara Sushi is one of the better AYCE sushi in the area, it's definitely worth the drive if you're interested in stuffing yourself and trying a bunch of different things. Their menu offers the typical ACYE sushi fare, including sashimi, hand rolls, tempura items and noodle dishes. The menu differs in that Takara offers "kitchen specials" not seen at other similar restaurants, these specials include: Salt and Pepper Shrimp, BBQ short ribs, General Tso's chicken to name a few. Pro-tip: the short rib order is one small piece so order a few. The items ordered were fair, typically at an AYCE sushi spot the flavors then to be the same amongst the rolls but this was not the case, each roll had their own unique flavors. Service was a bit slow from the kitchen. We ordered wings and thought they had been forgotten. Overall, Takara is worth a visit for AYCE sushi. read more

Fish was fresher than other places in this price range. We tried the Korean Style Short-Ribs - so yummy! as someone that doesn't eat beef often this was a real treat. Crab Rangoon (a must wherever we go that has it) was perfectly fried and slightly sweet, loved. The Chicken Ramen Teppenyaki was addicting, i was unfortunately too full to finish but it had a good rich flavor and perfectly seared chicken. And the restaurant is very beautiful. I also feel that prices are reasonable. LOW CARB: It's pretty easy to eat low carb at Takara. I got some sushimi, fish roe, and miso soup. The fish roe comes in a small upright mini roll that's rapped in seaweed and capped on the bottom with a bit of white rice. It keeps the eggs contained like a little cup. No problem, it had a super small amount of carbs. I ate the whole thing and it was great. SEATING: I had a slight hiccup at the beginning when I couldn't find anyone to greet and seat me, despite employees buzzing all over the place. I didn't see any signs that said "Please Wait to be Seated" so I finally helped myself and I grabbed a spot at the back bar. But one of the senior servers gave me crap and somewhat mercilessly scolded me for seating myself. She didn't seem to want to let it go. I apologized and I offered to move to a different table or to leave the restaurant completely...and she finally relented. I also gave her a 20 dollar tip which seemed to mellow her out considerably. I noticed there are a ton of shrimp tempura rolls... many are pretty tasty. I'm not typically a huge tempura fan, but theirs is very crispy and has good flavor. Miso soup, gyoza, chicken teriyaki and the chicken wings were highly recommended from the crew at our table. There were a handful of noodle or soup options on the menu, but no rice other than in Sushi. I was somewhat surprised. Pricing.... a tad high for all you can eat for a newly 13 year old but they were able to pick out a good variety to try. Fortunately, we found the place due to a coupon in the MG ads. I've had really bad service from waiters in ayce sushi places, especially around the schaumburg area, so it was pleasant having a good waitress. Do NOT go here if you have a food allergy. Our server cared zero percent about allergy food safety and actually **said so ** (too late). The menu itself doesn't flag allergens, either. You'd think that if someone communicated an allergy and then ordered something containing an allergen, the server would let you know that isn't going to be safe to eat and suggest something different. Instead, I ordered it, ATE IT, realized something wasn't right, asked the server and found out it had allergens and the server didn't care.
