Here for a quick medication pickup. First time here since the new building opened. First impression is she is beautiful!(Yep. She is a Lady) She is sleek, light and bright with lots of natural greenery around her. Again, I saw outside space with seating for relaxing in the sun and taking a quick break( That good vitamin D Ba-be!) which seems to be a theme with the 2 new buildings I have seen. Hint: there was no one in the pharmacy line ahead of me at 4:30. In and out. They are tearing down the old building next door for parking. Peep this. Unfortunately I had no choice but to come back here due to my insurance change. I am absolutely disgusted by this new facility, as their practices have changed to even worse levels than before. I can't even begin to explain the blatant pressure I was getting from the moment I walked in. The nurse checks my vitals, then asks if I wanted 4 different tests from flu shots, to hepatitis blood work. I kindly decline. Dr walks in moments later and begins to read a script on her computer screen like a robot. It was then my heart sank to realize my Dr isn't a Dr but simply a sales person trying to manipulate me into doing 5 different procedures that I do not need. She then reads another script asking me if I want the same exact tests the nurse just asked that I declined. At this point I felt disgust, sadness, hopelessness and other emotions I never felt before. My Dr felt like an A.I. robot who is simply reading a script, constantly trying really hard to manipulate me into taking or doing test & procedures I don't need. She then treats the reason I was there. Never asks me about me, my life style, what I eat, how I am. You know, like a Dr trying to actually get to know me, get to the root cause of the problem, rather than simply pushing medications and or things I dont need. It's like all they do is try to band aid the issue so you keep coming back to generate constant income. My 10min visit cost just over $300. Whoever owns this company, I want to say you people are the problem in this country with the corrupt, & rigged medical system that works hand in hand with Big Farma. It is crystal clear you do not care about your patients, all you care about is training your robot Dr's to prey on people, using constant mind games to get them to take or do things they don't need, in order to generate as much $ as possible, without actually treating/fixing the root cause. They even emailed and called me a week later saying they ordered all these tests for me that I never said I wanted, nor was asked about that added up to be thousands of dollars of senseless tests, xrays and blood work that have nothing to do with the reason of my visit (read that again). 30+ years ago my Dr would take 15-20 mins to get to know me, make you feel like a friend/family, fix the root cause so you don't come back, never asked or pushed anything on you, they focused on the issue you came in for. I usually use the Alexandria Kaiser. Had to travel to Springfield for a specialist. Every Kaiser I have used has been squeaky clean. Springfield is a new facility being built next to the old one. Kaiser has made a fantastic effort with their landscaping. All native plants. As an Alexandria Tree Steward, my jaw dropped when I saw what they have done to the landscape. 10 stars for the landscaping. Bravo!! Oh, and the service at Kaiser is second to none. read more

I am not a member of Kaiser; however, my grandparents are and I've had numerous encounters and placed many visits to help my elderly grandparents with their healthcare. The good thing about Kaiser is that they have many locations nationwide, so it's great for my grandparents who travel a lot due to missionary work. Now, for this location...I didn't meet the doctors or have encounters with the staff beyond the front desk. However, the gentleman at the front desk on Friday, July 5 at 4pm was not what I expect of a medical facility front desk employee. He was not nice, pretty abrupt, and seemed like he didn't want to be there at all with airpods (wireless earbuds) plugged into his ear. He seemed to be talking to someone through it as he was talking to himself in little breaks about Now, he was doing his work and seemed busy doing things. He also would check people in when they were waiting but this is not what a patient centered medical center looks like. It may have been a long day or a hard day for him--which I understand, but this was my observation while waiting and I hope more attention is given to patient care. read more

This brand new Kaiser building is state of the art! We recently left Kaiser just for a year and had to switch to Cigna because of employment, but I've needed to come to this Kaiser medical records branch a few times to get paperwork from previous years as members and they have been wonderful. Everyone is so helpful and prompt with sending me what I need and again the new building itself is beyond fantastic. I cannot wait to leave Cigna (they're so unreliable and have cost me a fortune in expenses for care they pre- approved and later decided to deny... that's a whole other story) and to get back to Kaiser in January! Everything is so well organized with Kaiser, everything all in one building, great doctors, and the costs are known in advance and very reasonable unlike what we're dealing with Cigna. read more

Had great care after breaking my ankle. Podiatrist was quick and attentive to emails and subsequent x rays. After my last x ray I find out my podiatrist left the practice three weeks before my imaging and I was never notified. Have been in limbo trying to get my next steps and explanation about my X-ray. Calls to 24 hour line asking for messages to be sent to podiatrist office and messages from my primary have resulted in no response and now I'm a "new referral " instead of a current patient meaning I'm at the end of the line waiting for an appointment(weeks from now). I'm ten weeks in a boot and want relief or at least a light at the end of the tunnel and some information . I don't fault the staff, I fault the KP system for not providing me with a new specialist the moment my original one left. read more

Updating my review.... Responding to Kaisers response post on this. I emailed that contact that was posted, completely useless. The lady who called me was absolutely lovely, that was about the only positive. She had no authority to really do anything, except say sorry. The sorry's don't help at this point. It's been years of my time and thousands of dollars lost. I have already filed dozens of complaints, waited my 30 days, waited my 45 days and have heard nothing. Of course, there is no way to go forward other than hiring a lawyer and going to arbitration. Until something changes, I stand by my review and warn people to steer clear. read more

Kaiser Permanente... Where do I even start? The time I was put on ADHD meds even though I have OCD, only making my life much more difficult? The time a Neurologist was aggressive toward me and my own mother, got frustrated with me and scratched me harder with the nerve testing device? The time a physical therapist blamed me to my face for all my PT progress, even though she was the one who prescribed the exercises? Overall, these are the ones that stick out. However, I will provide my two other negative experiences for more context of their mistreatment. This included my therapist not being able to provide emotional support when I had depression, while also scarring me from the insight that she gave. Last, but not definitely not least, the time a psychiatrist failed to prescribe me any anxiety medication, leading to me being hospitalized later that day. Thank you all for reading, I don't really know how to conclude this since this is the first negative review I've ever written. Taking temp before you walk in the building, asking if you have an appointment and if you've been in contact with anyone that has had COVID-19 in the last 14 days. I came here only to get some Lab tests done so this review is only for the lab department (4th floor). Pros: The lab doctors and assistants were no joke efficient. I went in at like 9:10 AM on a Friday, I was out of there by 9:40. Even though the entire place was packed when I went there, there wasn't even a seat to sit in. But they move so quickly, don't be intimidated by the amount of people you see. People go in and out in and out. There are some people that are "stat status" meaning they are way more important so if you have a required test that needs to be ASAP, you get moved to the start of the line. I just went in for a regular check up so my lab tests were just normal status but I still felt it went quickly. Cons: Parking is definitely a pain. If people actually stayed here for a long time, you will really have a hard time finding parking. I ended up parking on the street right outside the main parking lot. I suggest you try to do the same if possible. Though, people come in and out so maybe if you wait, you will catch a spot. Haven't been to the other departments but Laboratory department gets 4 stars from me! read more

Under no circumstances should you ask the ladies at the front desk any questions unless you want to be ranted at and treated like an idiot for not just knowing how everything works. Her entire rant took more time than it took her to find the answer to my question. If there was a long line and she was busy then I would understand her frustration but I was the only person there and they were just sitting there having a conversation so there was no reason should couldn't have taken those 5 seconds to look something up but apparently it was just such a hassle. read more

This is probably the most rundown Kaiser center I've ever been in. I have to get into the building at least 30 minutes before my appointment in order to take the elevators because they are so slow and not appropriately sized for the building. The other main issue I have with this facility is the outdated names on the walls. Kaiser doesn't tell you what floor your doctor is located on-you're expected to read the signs. However this was my third visit and the third doctor and not one of the doctors names were on the wall which makes it extremely difficult to figure out where you're supposed to go. The staff outside of the doctors have been extremely rude and not helpful. If you have the option to choose a different facility even if it means driving further, I would consider doing that instead. read more

Kaiser has it all. One stop shop. Get your flu shot, blood drawn, pills refilled, get lunch on the 2nd floor, and much more. Pretty much no hassle here. Can't find parking? I usually park on the street rather than looking for a spot. Saves time in the long run. I'm always in and out. I like how I was able to choose my doctor on the website that way I can do mad research on who gets to see me naked and what not. You KNOW what I'm saying? You can make appointments online which is amazingly convenient. I've never had to wait more than 2 days for an appointment I usually get one the next day. Can't complain about Kaiser. read more

I needed to have emergency surgery and ended up with a colostomy. When I got out of the hospital the box of colostomy bag supplies that had been ordered for me 1) was different than what the nurse used in the hospital and 2) wasn't what I needed. I told my PCP that I was struggling and needed help with the bags. I told him the bags were different, I didn't know what I was doing, and I was getting leaks. He didn't help; he told me it wasn't his job to help with my medical supplies and to talk to my case manager who said to talk to him. The home health nurse spent more time talking on her phone than helping me. The other home health nurse said that I needed an ostomy nurse. Neither could place referrals for products. So I wasn't getting help! Not only were the leaks causing burns on my skin but I smelled. General surgery dept, how would you all feel if you got to walk around with burns and smelling like that? How would you feel if you were on an elevator and a dad got on with his small child who got yelled at by his dad because his dad thought he had an accident? So not only was the poor child crying but I had to go through the humiliation of having to tell the dad it was me that smelled. No matter what I did I couldn't get the supplies to work. Every single day I would spend an hour changing the bag and trying to get it on properly but couldn't...I would give up and try again the next day. So not only was my skin being burned because of the leaks but I basically had to give myself a really painful wax everyday as I peeled the wafer off. GS dept, how would you feel if you had to walk around with extra clothes in case a leak got on your clothes? I am an adult who basically had to carry a diaper bag and got to walk around smelling like a dirty diaper. As if needing emergency surgery and seeing my own intestine wasn't traumatic and painful enough I had to deal with the humiliation of needing to beg for help, smelling like that, and my skin hu/rting. It was even more humiliating that my pcp used to look completely disgusted when he would see my colostomy or he would pick his stethoscope up like he just painted his fingernails because I guess I was gr0ss to him and I guess he thought his fingertips were c0ntaminated after touching my bag. No one should have to go through that kind of humiliation. I was told to watch YouTube videos or try calling the companies that makes the supplies. I asked my pcp, another pcp, my case manager, and called repeatedly to get help from an ostomy nurse. When I got my PCP to give me a referral there was an almost 2 month wait for an appointment to see an ostomy nurse. So I had to walk around smelling and burning my skin for 2 months? I continued to call and ask for help. Finally after weeks one of the nurses saw me. An already awful situation was made worse by having to wait so long to get help getting the right supplies. Did no one care because my surgery was done as an emgergency outside of Kaiser so Kaiser didn't get the money? If so why punish me? I repeatedly asked for help inside of Kaiser and I think I was completely and utterly failed. The doctors I saw didn't seem to believe me and/or didn't want to help me. I don't think I should have ended up in the hospital and I definitely don't think I should have ended up needing emergency surgery, so I don't think it is my fault that another hospital got the money for the surgery. read more

New member of KP. My primary is excellent, but I'll probably switch at my next open-enrollment. You'll receive numerous calls from Kaiser "with an important message about your health..." to remind you for this and that check-up, screening, testing etc.... Very pushy, to the point of sending me a kit to mail them my poo with elaborate POS persuading me not to be put-off by needing to handle my poo. I called to ask if said screening carried any out of pocket cost, and guess what?!?!? Yup... you guessed it. These activities generate revenue for Kaiser and that's why they help you "thrive." I'm in-between jobs now and mentioned that I'll get up to date on these optional health screens, tests and check-ups when I'm in a more favorable financial state. You can not separate my money from me right now Kaiser Permanente! They even went so far as to disguise such a call with a VM that "your doctor has left a message for you, please call to access..." I had just canceled an appointment to have my primary remove a shard of glass from my toe, that I was not able to remove with a tweezer.... Then after applying a quarter size of a peel-off mask to it, the glass shard came out. With the timing being so close to the canceling, I thought my primary called to ask me to come in anyway just to ensure that the glass was gone.... No.... It was a message left the nurse that I was due for a screen. When you visit, every interaction with them will be proceeded and followed by "you are due for this screen, test, check-up etc..." Everyone is scripted to as you "Would you like some fries or soda with that burger?" Then you'll get VM reminding you that you haven't had a burger in while and its time to have your burger. I don't like it that I can only get my meds from their pharmacy, it makes refilling during travel a chore. So my dear Spanish Austrian Emperor, our affair might be temporary rather than permanent. read more

I do have to say, they have the most efficient check in process I've ever seen. The first time I went for a checkup, I had already filled out my info online, got their early to fill out all the necessary first visit paperwork, and was told by the desk nurse that I didn't have to. Huh? You actually use the information I already entered online???? Mega-kudos for efficient use of technology to speed your process up. Even getting there early, I waited less than 5 minutes to be seen by the first nurse (weight, height, temp check stuff), then less than a minute after that I was talking to my Dr. NICE! The few subsequent visits I've had have been just as good in terms of efficiency in the office. The staff is cordial, professional, and knows what they're doing. Thanks! read more

This is my heath care pervader. But this is not my doctor location but at Tyson Corner area. McLean, VA. I like this location because my job located near by. Fast to get here. Across the street from Target Store with a Starbucks. But I need to break this review down from there departments. Pharmacy: Very well stock. It a great in refilling my med. Get my supply and other item I need day to day base. Laboratory on the fourth floor and on the weekday are fast and very good in taking blood. But I wood not move my health care to this building. Doctors office small. Look like a office and turn in to Kaiser. Second floor has a small cafe and a room to seat for you meal. Mainly for breakfast and lunch. But they close until 5:00pm. Very good sandwiches. Free coffee in lobby in the morning up till 3:00pm. They only have 8oz cups. Waiting room is nice. If I want go come here again. Only if I work near by but if I don't I start coming to Tyson's center. No free wifi. read more

My last visit was the worse experience experience ever. Dr kitchen gave me a lab test which i told him several times i did not want. I asked for a blood test for black mold, mycotoxins( stachybotrys). I told him not to give me a allergy test. He then hands me a piece of paper and tells me to take this test which is a allergy test i later found out. I then called EVRAL MCDONALD in member services but he wasn't much help at all in fact i felt like he eas incompetent with his work and he does not listen very well. After trying to contact him several times i finally get through to him. After speaking to him he assumes i was trying to sure kaiser for just $85. He then tells me ill be jumping through hoops to get just $85(what a joke, assuming). He then sends me a mail saying that kaiser charged me the correct amount... He wasn't listening very well. I didnt ask if kaiser charged me correctly. I told them to waive my fee's because the doctor gave me a test i asked him not to give me...... I have attached a photo of EVRAL MCDONALD. He is no help with the member service department. I'm still fighting to not pay for a lab test i asked several times not to give me. The facility: OLD, 2 slow elevators (so I just take the stairs), limited parking. Compared to the other Kaiser facilities (Burke, Fair Oaks, Tysons) Springfield is a dump! Let's hope they renovate soon. The doctors: I've never fallen in love with anyone, but everyone has always been polite. I often book appointments at Springfield Kaiser for a few reasons: -closer than Tysons -appointments that are not offered at Fair Oaks or Burke -appointment times offered. Springfield opens earlier than Burke. If you are unable to take the stairs, come early. You will have a 5-10 minute wait on your hands. Also, it's not Tysons Kaiser (the newest and nicest facility)- expect an older and somewhat run down facility. read more

I went for my annual checkup, now called "well-woman visit" at the Kaiser Permanente Springfield Medical Center. The OBGYN lacked knowledge and was surprised by simple questions. Then, I received a bill for laboratory services during the "well-woman visit". Under the Affordable Care Act, well-woman visits, including pap smears, carry no out-of-pocket costs under all Marketplace health plans, even when the deductible is not met. It's the law. So, I called them to have this charge removed. After being on hold for some time, when giving my member ID # to one lady, she said "I can barely hear you" and hung up on me immediately. After spending some time on the phone with Kaiser and getting no where with their staff, who obviously were not interested in resolving this charge and did not want to be there, I finally gave up and paid the bill. I'm really glad I was able to cancel Kaiser Permanente insurance and will not have to deal with them in the future. read more

I recently acquired health insurance through my job and it seems that Kaiser Permanente is the go to for health services. This location was chosen for me as it was deemed the closest to my home but I will soon be changing locations regardless of distance. I find it so strange that there are no female general practitioners, internal medicine doctors, family doctors, etc. And the one female gynecologist has just left to go to a different location. I don't think it's that unheard of for a patient to want the same sex doctor to do the examinations. I'm sure the male doctors do a fine job, but I just am not comfortable. I'll update this review if I end up staying and visit with one of the doctors. Also, this has nothing to do with this specific location, but the website for Kaiser sucks. It is one of the least user friendly websites I've ever come across. All I want to do is change my location...one would think this shouldn't take 2+ hours of website searching and phone calls. If I had a choice in health insurance, I'd choose elsewhere. read more

After this year, I'm switching ins. companies. Fed up. The one star is for Dr. Daria in ob dept-- he's awesome, and has been my ob for 15 yrs! Sadly, I'm going to have to find a new one when I switch. The eye dept is inept, and the staff downright surly. My appt today was switched to another dr, and a later time-- and I didn't find out until checkin! This screwup interferred w/ ob appt. And when I checked out of eye dept to pay, the two staff actually started arguing. Neither one wanted to do because they'd logged off. Really. Then, I go from eye dept to ob dept, and was told I had to go to another floor (pediatrics dept!) to check in. WTF? Then, lady at pediatrics was a biatch...... They can kiss it... read more

It's great to see the progress on the new building. But the current building is 12 stories and the new one only 5. I'm told that certain departments, such as general surgery, will not be accommodated in the new, SMALLER, facility. With membership increasing, one would have expected the new building to be at least as large as the existing one, if not larger. But instead we'll have to drive to far flung places such as Woodbridge or Tysons for specialty care. Really sad indeed. read more

I switched to k.p. earlier this year from a more expensive insurance company in order to save money. I had been with the previous group (AARP United Health Care) for many years, so it was with some trepidation that I went for my first appointment in Springfield today, not knowing at all what to expect. I got an appointment the same day I called--five stars. I did not have to wait to see the doctor when I arrived--five stars. Dr. Vincent Chen did a great job: after asking a question he actually listened to my replies, and he gave common-sense advice for my particular health issues--five stars again! 100% pleased. I don't think I have had a better care experience at any other place I've ever been, and I'm in my eighth decade. read more

Doctor EBONY M. RICHARDS- pediatrics, worst experience being my first time at Kaiser permanente. They refused to see my daughter since we arrived literally 10 mnts late because of their non working elevator. Our appointment was at 2:15 pm and waited until late 5pm to be called in to see the nurse. Tried to speak with the doctor but apparently it was impossible at the moment so the receptionist apologized that the doctor had decided to skip my daughter and not let anyone know until 2 hours later that i decided to say something. My advice as a mother is toThink twice before you get keiser permanente for your kids. read more

I go to this location for the Dermatology department. Dr Kurt Wenk is a great doctor who has helped address my skin concerns. He is efficient and professional. He always responds back quickly via KP.org. A lot of members do not like this location due to the parking and elevators but when you have great specialist like Dr. Wenk it's worth the drive and taking the stairs. read more

The doctor was lovely, but the facility is old, run-down and unpleasant. Had to wait in line in Pediatrics to check in to see my GP, and the line was 7 people deep. Plus, hanging out with sick kids in a waiting room with Teletubbies on the TV is not how I want to start a routine wellness appointment. This was my first experience with Kaiser. Think I'll transfer out to Reston--I hear the facility is lovely and new. Worth the drive in my opinion. read more

Definitely the worst kaiser in the area. Staff seemed bored & unhappy to be there. I got blood drawn and it was painful. It's never painful at the other kaiser I usually go to. And to top it off they gave me the wrong labs and didn't give me everything I needed to complete them. So they had to be redone. read more

I really like having everything under one roof and overall staff is nice and efficient. However, the building is extremely rundown. It is obviously old, that's not the issue. But I think that it is not that difficult to clean the windows and put a fresh layer of paint. Elevators are terribly slow as well. read more

I have been going to Kaiser / Springfield location and few times did lab work atTyson corner location for over a year now , I like the fact that it's a one stop shop for your medical needs , their staff are well trained and super friendly which is much appreciated . I will direct my review to Springfield location where I visit quite frequently , the facility is well maintained and clean , you are always welcomed with a warm smile from their front desk / receptionist who will answer your questions which is great customer service that is much needed in other places . There are no long waits to see the doctor or get you prescription from the pharmacy ... Everyone is helpful and professional in what they are trained to do , the pharmacy has a great setup and efficient system their staff are very knowledgable and very friendly , I recommend Kaiser Permenanti and keep up the good work . read more

I give my review based on today's visit only. I had been suffering a chronic ingrown toenail so I made an appointment with my primary physician. She looked at me and referred me to a podiatrist. My doctor was able to find me an appointment that same afternoon and sent me upstairs. The podiatrist addressed my toe, removed the ingrown toenail and set me up to avoid reoccurrence. The doctor even offered advice to help with the dry skin condition on my foot. read more

Kaiser Permanente is not able to provide care in a timely manner. Physical therapy was prescribed for bone fracture recover and I am waiting six weeks before beginning treatment due to lack of appointment availability. This is an unacceptable wait in receiving needed care and delaying recovery. With open enrollment season approaching consider other alternatives. After nine years, I will not be a Kaiser Permanente member come the new year. read more
