CoViD 19= #13 "NEW" Open Market Shopping Experience "It's a small world after all".... My first visit to this cute Farmers Market and I run into Yelper Jo Y and I stroll with Yelper Therese H. Now then about this place: Covid Pros: 1) EVERY attendee both shopper and vendor alike ALL WORE MASKS! 2) EVERY shopper RESPECTED the 6' distance rule 3) EVERY vendor had in addtion to face masks had addtional PPE= latex gloves when touching and serving you their products Cons:??? None actually except for the 90 degree heat pounding down on you as this Farmers Market is located in the Kaiser High School parking lot. Now, about this place: 1) Vendor booth fee = $25 2) Proceeds benefit Kaiser High School PTSA 3) Still relatively small, parking available and LOTS of eateries many of which you would recognize. For example: Ruby Tuesdays= $11 Rib Meal (complete with fixin's Colin Hazama C4= $15-$20 meals. Menu varies by the week Sweet Revenge= Pinkie is there with their delicious pies La Tour= Box Van there selling their breads There are quite a few other eateries including Mochi Strawberries! My pick of the day. Here's the story: fresh fruit wrapped in mochi WITHOUT preservatives. Fruits HUGE and FRESH. Pricey but worth every dollar. There are many individual vendors selling cookies, snacks, fruits, vegetables, hand crafted items (including MASKS) Hours: every Tuesday from 4 - 6 pm. The first Tuesday of the month offers a neat idea known as "Plant exchange". Take from your garden something someone else may want to try to plant and grow. Exchange it for something YOU may want to plant and grow. If you go early, let the vendors set their booths up or stand in line patiently. You would want to go early for parking's sake. If you go after 4 pm, please be patient and considerate to the pedestrians while you look for parking. IF you park on the upper levels, be careful when walking down the concrete stairs. The stairs are steep and narrow. Nothing that a little bit of attention and careful tending to your walking A must try for all who enjoy the Farmer's market scene. Good food, small enough to enjoy everything! For the east side residents; go to get your dinner and dessert on the way home from work! Well worth the stop!

It's amazing how the Kaiser PTSA Farmers Market has changed during these Covid times. Before the pandemic, it was extremely bare with the same vendors every week. Now, restarting after lockdowns, this Farmers Market has expanded tenfold. There are so many vendors now with a large variety of food and crafts. Many restaurants are participating here as well, such as Kazan Ramen (known for its Volcano Ramen), Yakiniku Sizzle, Pig and the Lady, Sweet Revenge, Ruby Tuesday, and etc. Every time I've been here on Tuesdays from 4-6PM, it's always packed. Most of the vendors are friendly, but a few are very snotty (usually teenagers). My only gripe is some of the pricing for a few vendors. I want to support local and help out for those having any hardships, but we're all suffering hardships, so setting prices that are unreasonably high or adding random fees that aren't mentioned at all is unacceptable. I purchased something that I easily added to $12, but the girl told me $13. Uhhh, what? It was after I asked, she said the extra dollar is for the plastic box. If you do it like that, it's extremely suspicious. No where it says there a charge for boxes. That was upsetting, and really wanted to just walk away, but I don't answer rudeness with rudeness. Overall, this farmers market almost feels like the one at KCC from the amount of vendors and amount of people walking around. Though, keeping the six foot distance isn't followed THAT well, and I still find it bizarre people would just walk around with masks down to eat or drink.

I just about NEVER have Saturdays off in forever so I barely get to go to any sort of farmers market, but some like this Kaiser PTSA that have it on a weeknight is a blessing for me to enjoy. I know it's not the easiest to do and only hope that I continue to see all the vendor and more participate. There were a few food truck and a bunch of crafty folks with their uniqueness it's fantastic. I did picked up a few things like freeze dried jolly ranchers by Any Kine Snax and several beautiful sewn items by YuYu Crafted. A crazy crafter myself I just love seeing all the inspirational love they all have, thank you!

Opal Thai Food, Kaji's Kitchen (smoked marlin, smoked marlin dip), Pig and The Lady(lots of their popular dishes...i got oxtail pho) , Yakiniku Sizzle (kakuni), Hawaii Sweet Collection( yummy)Okoshi , Anykine Stuff( Freezedried skittles, other candies, planter markers and other cool stuff) and even Terra-wash... wash your cloth for the entire year with Terrawash... no harsh chemicals ! I'm so happy with my dinner options and goodies! I want to go back every Tuesday to pick up my dinner!! No need cook!

This farmers market is on Tuesday evenings from 4-6 pm and is located in the lower parking lot of kaiser high school. There's a lot of parking, but they're really small and compact. The stairs that lead you down to the market is steep too so watch your step! I've seen a lot of dogs here, but it's so hot this summer! Just be aware of heat exhaustion from your puppies if you decide to bring them along. They have a good variety of vendors and most of the long lines are for the produce stands. They have a little mix of everything along with your typical vendors (sweet revenge, pig and the lady, la tour). It's worth checking out if you're in the area and some of the vendors here do pre orders.

Kaiser High School's Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) Farmer's Market has had our support for many years, mainly because our kids graduated from there, & this farmer's market use its proceeds to support school programs. Started about 10 years ago with about five vendors, we've seen it decline to about two vendors just some years ago. Then, all of a sudden with the COVID-19 pandemic, it has now grown to more than 30 vendors with heavyweights being added, such as Sweet Revenge, the Pig & the Lady, Le Tour Bakehouse, & upscale chefs from Waikiki hotels. This farmer's market is thriving with eager customers looking for local produce, baked goods, hot foods, side dishes, plants, & miscellaneous items each Tuesday from 4p-6p at the school's lower parking lot. How great it is! Some of our favorite vendors include: * Sweet Revenge. Their sweet & savory pies are absolutely delicious! The flavorful Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Cordon Bleu Pot Pie are very filling for dinner! The Mango Crumb Pie, filled with only local mangoes with a streusel crumb topping, is heavenly with vanilla ice cream! The Peaches & Cream Pie is so delish with fresh peaches in a buttery crust! The Chocolate After Dinner Mint Pie is perfect for chocolate lovers! The offerings are varied, so we look forward to trying a new one each week! * Kaji's Kitchen. Chef Blake, the Director of Food & Beverage & the Executive Chef at Princess Kaiulani Hotel, offers his specialties here. His vacuum-packed smoked meat & pickled raw onions are so tasty! With each week offering a hot dish, we've tried their sampler plate that featured corned beef with onions laulau & smoked meat with onions & enjoyed it! They had okonomiyaki this week. Look forward in trying their garlic chicken, smoked marlin, salmon musubi, smoked tako, & boiled peanuts (li hing, garlic, or Korean BBQ). They're at the farmer's market every other week. * C4 Table. Chef Colin Hazama, the Executive Chef at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, offers his upscale comfort food. We love his Caramel Star Anise Roast Chicken with braised leeks, Forbidden rice & charred garlic baby bok choy, as well as his Smoked Pork Belly Bacon Bao (set of 4) with black pepper jam, apple fennel kim chee & cilantro. Cooked to perfection & so flavorful! * Ruby Tuesday Hawaii. As the two local owners are graduates of Kaiser High, they are new vendors this week. Their ribs dinner plate of mango kiawe ribs (also had classic BBQ or hickory bourbon sauces), mashed potatoes & steamed broccoli for $11 garnered a long line. With the meat falling off the bones, a delicious dinner! * La Tour Bakehouse. Love their organic sourdough loaf that makes great sourdough toasts in the morning! * Plant Exchange. Love the concept of trading seedlings with your neighbors. We've been bringing air plants & donating other plants around the house. We've gotten eggplant & purple bozu in pots, & shungiku (edible chrysanthemum) seeds. In the past, they've had jalapeno, guava, Hawaiian wood rose, & more. This booth is here on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. As the farmer's market is now very crowded, we've pre-ordered our items based on the vendors' requirements as noted in the website (Note: kudos to Yelper Therese H., who volunteers as the farmer's market website coordinator! Great to see Therese & Terry K. at the farmer's market this week!). By pre-ordering, we arrive early, pick up our orders without having to stand in long lines in the hot sun & leave before it gets very crowded. Social distancing may be compromised as this farmers market becomes more popular. There are many other vendors that we have yet to try: MA Farms, Lets Grow HI, & Mahiku Farms Waimanalo (fresh produce); Kelz Kakes (breads & cakes); Sin's Kitchen (kimchi & cookies); Daizu-Tei (vegan foods); Yakiniku Sizzle (BBQ foods); Teruya Andagi & Bentos; Swedish Apple Pies; Any Kine Snax (freeze-dried Skittles & orange creamsicles); Pig & the Lady (Vietnamese foods); Olay's Thai Food Express; Mama Ju Cookies (azuki bean cookies); I Heart Poke (fresh ahi poke); Carlton Crafts (duct-tape wallets & binder clips); DYY Creations (face masks); Freckleface soaps; Lucky Roll (handmade jewelry); Kazan Ramen Express (bentos); & others. Free parking is available on the upper levels of Kaiser's parking lot, with each level joined by stairs in the middle of each level. Go early to get your items, as the vendors easily sell out of their specialties early on. Or better yet, pre-order to guarantee your order. The Kaiser PTSA Farmer's Market is an amazing neighborhood event that has never given up over the past 10 years despite having only two vendors at one time. Goes to show you that anything is possible if people believe in it. A great way to support our local vendors & the alma mater of our kids in the community. We look forward in returning to order our Tuesday dinners here & welcome potential new vendors to this successful neighborhood farmer's market!

In the last 5 weeks, this small neighborhood farmers market has really grown - they had about 20 vendors on the second Tuesday in June. The market takes place Tuesdays from 4-6 pm on the lowest level of Kaiser High School's parking lot, and marketgoers have plenty of parking on the two levels above that. People have been very respectful - wearing masks and social distancing. They have everything from fresh local produce - one farm does CSA deliveries every other week - to bento boxes from Waikiki restaurants to face masks to promotional items. Their website is updated weekly, but if you're going for a particular vendor, you should contact them if they have a number or email on the website. Full disclosure: I built that website pro bono for the market :) On the second Tuesday of the month, "Hawaii Kai Auntie" hosts a Plant Exchange with a large variety of plants and some seeds. I brought a couple of boxes of plumeria cuttings, and took home a popcorn orchid - would have easily paid $20 at the store for that! I met an adorable family of kids who had a table with an assortment of crafts, all using different colors and patterns of duct tape. I had no cash on me to buy from them, so I got them smoothies from one of the vendors who takes Venmo. Be sure to bring cash, as many vendors only have that payment option. So happy our little neighborhood farmers market is gr
