All-around topnotch care. And when I say care, they CARE. Dr. Jeff, Dawn, Jess, everyone…read morereally...are warm, genuine people who happen to provide dental services. They're so wonderful that I feel a tiny bit guilty when I admit to not flossing regularly. Even my husband doesn't want to disappoint them lol Some niceties that they offer: warm face towels, neck pillows, a bidet! And notary service too! They run like clockwork...I am never waiting long in the lobby or in the exam chair. My husband and I are fortunate to be in their care. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some flossing to do.

After my dentist passed away a couple of years ago, I had a difficult time finding another dentist…read moreI could connect with. I had been with my previous dentist for over 15 years, and I believe having a good relationship with your dentist is important. You may only see them twice a year or during an emergency, but you want someone who knows you and genuinely cares. I tried a couple of dentists but never felt comfortable. Then I came across an ad featuring Dr. Jeff Miyazawa and decided to give his practice a try. He is in Kaneohe and I live in Ewa, so it is definitely a drive--but he is absolutely worth it. From the beginning, his staff made me feel welcome and comfortable, especially Christine. She is incredibly friendly, warm, and helpful. She listened to my concerns and carefully explained all of my options without making me feel pressured or judged. Dr. Miyazawa was also very personable and seemed genuinely interested in helping me. For years, I had a small chip in one of my front teeth. It may have seemed minor, but it was noticeable to me in pictures and affected how I felt about my smile. Another dentist had previously repaired it, but the repair did not last very long. Yesterday, Dr. Miyazawa repaired my two front teeth, and I could immediately see the difference in the level of care. He was extremely meticulous. He did not simply cover the chip and send me on my way. He made sure my smile looked balanced, also worked on my bottom teeth, and paid close attention to every detail. This was definitely not a rushed ten-minute job. I am so grateful to Dr. Miyazawa and his staff. I feel more confident, and I finally love my smile again. It feels like he gave me back the smile I used to have. I highly recommend him--especially if you are looking for a dentist who is skilled, caring, personable, and truly listens. The drive from Ewa to Kaneohe is worth it!

Before going here, I highly recommend reading the reviews carefully. If you still decide to move…read moreforward, make sure you fully understand what your dental insurance actually covers. This office has you sign paperwork based on what they think your insurance will cover, proceeds with treatment, and then later sends you a bill for anything your insurance did not pay. You end up being responsible for those unexpected charges. In my experience, the office does not take the time to properly verify coverage--especially for procedures that are already in progress. Communication around costs is unclear and can be misleading. On top of that, the office manager is extremely rude, and the staff is not welcoming or friendly, which makes the overall experience even more frustrating. Save yourself the stress and consider going elsewhere. Also, keep in mind that this company operates multiple locations across the island, so your experience may be similar at their other offices as well.

I found the billing process to be very stressful and poorly handled…read more Before my appointment, I requested that the office submit a predetermination (pre-treatment estimate) to my dental insurance so I could better understand what would be covered before moving forward with treatment. My request was declined, and I was told I needed to pay a large estimated amount upfront as a requirement to book my appointment. After my insurance processed the claim, I learned that my actual out-of-pocket responsibility was significantly lower--more than $1,000 less than what I had been required to pay upfront. I had to contact my insurance company myself to understand the claim, and they advised me to contact the dental office because I had already paid before my insurance claim was finalized. After the office reviewed my account, they confirmed that I had overpaid and issued a refund, which I am currently waiting to receive by mail. I appreciate that they corrected my account, but I don't think patients should have to request a refund themselves after paying a large estimated amount upfront. I also believe there should be more transparency and confidence in the billing process so patients fully understand that the amount collected is only an estimate and may change once insurance processes the claim. If you have dental insurance, I highly recommend reviewing your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) after your claim is processed and comparing it with what you paid. If something doesn't seem right, don't hesitate to ask the office to review your account. Overall, the dental care itself was decent--though not the best--but I believe the billing process and communication could be significantly improved to make the experience much less stressful for patients.

Dr. Hayashi is truly the best! I absolutely love him and will continue to see him no matter how far…read morethe drive. I've been his patient for over a decade, making him by far the longest medical relationship I've had. I've always said that if life ever took either of us away from beautiful Hawai'i, he'd be the doctor I'd miss the most. The level of care he provides is extraordinary, and it was evident from my very first visit. His genuine concern and dedication to his patients are truly one-of-a-kind. As someone with a dental phobia and a history of medical trauma, I've always dreaded dental appointments. But Dr. Hayashi has completely changed that for me and each encounter leaves me feeling grateful to have him on my healthcare team. His commitment to patient well-being and his accountability in fostering a better community is exceptional. Over the years, he's been a part of some major changes in my life, and I feel a special kinship with him. We've made incredible progress in my dental journey, and I'm proud of the place we've gotten to together. I'd also like to recognize the amazing front office team--Kerrie, Abi , and the other staff member (whose name I didn't catch). They play such an essential role in keeping everything running smoothly, and I'm always thankful for their friendly and efficient service. Dental assistant Ashlee deserves special mention as well. Her kindness and lively personality make the appointment feel so much more pleasant. Every office needs someone like Ashlee! Although I haven't met the other dentists at the office yet, I'm confident they're excellent. Aloha Family Dentistry is located on the 3rd floor of the American Savings Bank building at the corner of Kahuhipa St. and Kamehameha Hwy in Kāne`ohe. They offer convenient parking entrances on both Kahuhipa St. and Kamehameha Hwy, with wheelchair-accessible parking and building entrances on both levels. Choose Aloha Family Dentistry and you'll be on your way to an even more beautiful smile and healthier you!

NO ALOHA, NOT OHANA…read more I asked for help but I was disregarded. I asked for flexibility because it wasn't part of my original treatment plan and was denied. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and zero regard for patients. I'd been complaining about my tooth for months and was told nothing was wrong. Enduring the pain, turned out to be fractured....causing an issue that could have been avoided. Staff informed me that this nearly $1500 procedure where I was responsible for at least half would be "no problem" when I asked to pay monthly, so I agreed to the amount where they said we can work out the payments after. But in the end they demanded full payment immediately and refused any partial payment. To me, it's insult to injury when this was an inconvenient bill that could've been prevented. The fact that I've ALWAYS paid the full amount no matter the cost and asked for them to work with me tells me they DON'T know their customers and they are NOT a family oriented business. Unless my mind is changed, help me find a new dentist!!
