Kalahari just asked for my thoughts on our stay this weekend. I share it here as well. I will reject any passive, corporate-scripted response looking to save face, and telling me the WONDERFUL things I may have missed. Bull. Respond sincerely or not at all. Here's what I wrote them (between bouts of vomiting, because KALAHARI MADE US SICK, but I'll get to that)...Our stay was DOOMED from the beginning. When our reservation was made, it was clearly explained that the room charges were supposed to be taken from our gift cards and not our bank/credit card. They were not and it caused a huge problem with our bank account. After finally speaking to a manager, on the third phone call, she corrected the problem. When we arrived, everything seemed to go well until bedtime came and our hallway was filled with running, yelling, swearing ADULTS and children. My own children were continuously woken up until my husband, who had had enough of their behavior, went down to the front desk at 3AM and complained. Only then was security even seen on our floor (Are they not supposed to patrol the entire resort, or just the main floors?) Why didn't my husband simply call the front desk? Because our phone did not work. (This was corrected later as stated above.) In addition, I was nauseous all night, but couldn't figure out why...until the next morning. I had purchased one of your pastries from the Java Manjaro. When I went to purchase a coffee the next morning, two men were servicing the cooler which my pastry had come from and I overheard the employee standing with them mention that "it's been broken since yesterday" and noted how warm everything was, even to the point of the frosting and such melting off of other things. Mystery solved. I was given an improperly stored food item. Other than an entire grumpy family, from not having slept the night before, things went fairly well our second day. Two notes I'll make here that were observed the entire weekend, the waterpark was much, much colder than anticipated. Our children were always shivering when out of the water, the towels in the rooms were inadequate in both size and texture and all of the "dry" activities were shoddy and overpriced. (t-shirt making, pottery, mini golf, zombie ride etc). We attempted to play in the wave pool to end our second day and were forced back out again within minutes for an undisclosed reason (rumor was that someone defecated in the pool). My husband, who was curious, asked several people how/when the water would be cleaned, and NO ONE he spoke to could answer him! We tried to end the evening on a high note and had some ice cream and played a board game in the lobby. We noticed your fireplace and asked that it be turned on, to which we were answered by the front desk, "no one knows how to turn it on". Which brings me to our last day. Our breakfast buffet was somehow more expensive than the day before (how does that happen?) the locker rental for the waterpark...TWENTY DOLLARS are you kidding me??? and someone (employee or guest, we didn't see which) removed out luggage cart from outside our room before we could load it, which became more hassle than it was worth. I will state here that no follow-up by any manager was ever made, for any of these problems. The housekeeping manager who helped us with our phone, cared more than anyone about our stay, throughout as we saw her multiple times. I end now, with the biggest problem of all. Finally at home, I have FOUR family members who are violently ill. Only my oldest child is okay as of writing this. Began on the ride home. Had to pull over to vomit on the side of the highway. We went nowhere else the entire weekend, so either from bad food, or bad water conditions...KALAHARI MADE US SICK. We would NEVER return here, unless standards are drastically changed, reviews reflect this and someone PAID us to do so. Would be skeptical even then. read more
