I was very disappointed with my experience. We arrived at the ticket counter around 12:25 p.m. for the 12:30 p.m. ferry. Even though the ferry was still boarding, the employees refused to sell us tickets for that departure, forcing us to wait until the next ferry at 1:15 p.m. What made the experience even more frustrating was that we were quoted $110 at the ticket window, but when we purchased the exact same tickets online a few minutes later, the total was only $96 and some change. The customer service was unacceptable. One employee slammed the ticket window shut while we were trying to ask questions, and another responded with "whatever" when we said we would just purchase our tickets online. It was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. The only reason I'm not giving an even harsher review is because the bartender inside Jet Express was wonderful. She was friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent customer service, which helped turn around an otherwise unpleasant experience. I hope management addresses the customer service at the ticket counter because no customer should be treated this way. read more

A friend and I booked a room in Port Clinton for the night on Sunday, May 24th and purchased Jet Express tickets online to go to Put-In-Bay for a few hours and called to confirm last boat from the Bay back to Port Clinton was 12:45a.m. We got to the dock at 12:40a.m. to catch Jet back to Port Clinton and it was dark and closed down. We where never informed that the last Jet off the island was now at 12:15a.m. We panicked cause we had no place to stay, no overnight clothes, essentials, etc. After searching numerous hotels we did find a place to stay for $172 for the night (luckily I brought my emergency credit card). We ended paying for two rooms for one night stay!!! We got up in the morning to catch the 9a.m. Jet back to port clinton in time to pack up and check out of hotel we never got to stay in. We never received a email to inform us that they cancelled the last Jet back to Port Clinton. This is poor customer service!! read more

My four year old son and I found this to be a fun way to get to Put-In-Bay. He insisted on sitting on the upper deck on the absolute hottest day of summer. Even with a breeze and a light mist, it was pretty hot with the sun beating down. The ferry seemed clean and there was plenty of seating on a Monday. Sounds like the weekends may be a different story though. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful and it was easier to swap our return ticket for a different departure time. It is a bit pricey, but it lets you off right in the center of the downtown area and my thinking is that it just saves on golf cart rental if you don't plan on going too far (which we didn't for our brief visit). read more

The ride is a bit choppy toward the middle. If you have suitcases, be prepared to LOCK the wheels because they'll go flying and slam passengers; don't just prop them up against the wall and forget it! I ended up babysitting some young couple's luggage because they didn't see fit to do anything but socialize and ignore it. That was annoying. The boat ride is so much fun. First stop is Cedar Point. Next is Kelly's Island (family friendly). Third is Put-In-Bay. We had so much fun on our day trip. Be sure to use the landlubber potties on the mainland or island before boarding. Theres only one loo on board and you're gonna share it with drunk men and women (who start early in the day), and some people don't aim well when the boat hits a bump and flies. The trip went more quickly than expected. The ride was smooth and a fun experience. We had our dog along with us which was a plus that they allowed our furry friends. The staff was very friendly. Awesome time on the Jet Express. Super easy booking process, large parking area, great bar and play area, smooth 30-minute ride, easy onboarding and offboarding process, plenty of seating inside or out, and friendly staff. The only downside for this trip was getting out of the parking lot. There is one lane that splits into 3 exits but you have to pay at the terminal. Many people including myself had issues with the card reader taking our credit card so we had to switch to cash. It took quite a long time to exit. I'd love to see an option like Park n Fly at the Cleveland Airport where you can pre-pay or pay via the app and then scan a QR code to leave in a separate exit area. Only one star reduced for this item but everything else was fantastic! read more

Nothing bothers me more than people who are in a customer service role but do not provide good/helpful customer service. Pretty poor from the bright blonde haired lady in Sandusky working the morning of 8/16. We realized we had messed up by not buying our tickets in advance online, but wow, she did not offer a bit of support or solution and was quick to dismiss us. One word answers, seemed like she didn't want to help us, attitude. Luckily, we were able to speak to another wonderful lady who helped us out and actually got us on the boat we needed no problem. Really disapointing, as we have had zero issues with the Port Clinton staff. read more

The ferry itself is very nice and clean. The staff on it are wonderful. Did not have a bad experience at all however, no one told us it would take one hour to get to Putin my goodness what a long ride! We used to go to Miller's it takes 20 minutes and it goes straight to Putin Bay. I just wish somebody had told us it was gonna stop at every island and the ride would be an hour long! read more

Terrible,terrible customer service. Tracy should never be on the other end of that phone. Interrupting and nasty attitude. She told us last boat leaves by 10 for bash on the bay on the phone. Then proceeds to tell us next day that last boat left at midnight. Well we could have made that one if we knew about it! Wouldn't refund money since that is policy but wouldn't make an exception. Triple the price of miller ferry and way less times to catch the boat. Miller ferry took care of us after their nasty attitudes. Will never give this company our money again. read more

It was remarkably fast! And smooth. The landing point on the island was conveniently in town. And on this particular trip, the Jet Express schedule fit my needs. But I won't be using Jet Express again unless similar circumstances require. It costs SO much more than the Miller ferry, and then there's the parking charge on top of that. I see what you get for the extra money, and there is really something to it, but in the future, unless I have a tight schedule like I had this trip, I'll be traveling from Catawba Island to the Lime Kiln Docks, and not the faster but much farther trip (they both end up taking about a half hour) from downtown Port Clinton to the village dock in Put-in-Bay. read more

We departed out of Sandusky to Put in Bay round trip. It took about 45 minutes to get to PIB and the trip was very enjoyable and scenic. As soon as you leave the dock in Sandusky you have great views of Cedar Point. You soon enter Lake Erie and can see the Marblehead lighthouse and peninsula. They do make a quick stop at Kellys Island but you do not have to disembark from the boat. You arrive at downtown Put in Bay a short time later after cruising by a few of the Lake Erie Islands. The trip is narrated and informative. The crew was friendly and there were plenty of seats for everyone. The ride was pretty smooth even though the lake had some waves the day we went. It is more expensive than the Miller Ferry out of Catawba, but it was a very enjoyable ride. read more

Best way to get to Kelley's Island and Put-in-Bay. In fact, the only way to get to Kelley's Island and Put-in-Bay. Jet Express takes you from Sandusky all the way there. Prices suck. You can't avoid being ripped off because this is about the only service there. It has several different docks. Most popular seems to be the one in Sandusky, because it has good parking locations. This one takes you first to Kelley's Island, which is the closest island there. It's about $20 to get to it. This is just one way. It can then take you to Put-in-Bay if you have another ticket to get to it. The ticket can be purchased at any of the Jet Express locations. It's about $10 to get between the islands. The entire trip to visit both islands is about $58 whether or not they're bought together. It doesn't take that long to get to the islands. It's a good thing because the boat smells. This is not a good value but there's not much of a choice for lousy tourists like you. read more

Great experience! Well-organized boarding/departing process. The staff was very accommodating for our party of 12. One thing for the management, I printed our tickets as suggested, however, they are meant to be scanned on the phone not from a paper ticket. That caused a bit of a delay as the crew was trying to figure out how to process us. Still early enough in the season to figure this out! The crew was very calm and polite as they struggled with the process. For those who are prone to motion sickness, PLEASE take medications/patches, whatever you may need BEFORE boarding. Bring your own plastic/vomit bag just in case. The lake can be rough and the boat goes fast. The crew can only clean your mess during the short layovers between stops. Great way to island hop and see a different relaxed lifestyle. read more

I had a great experience using Jet Express getting out to Put-in-Bay. The online reservation process was very easy, parking was straight forward, and the trip was easy. There is outdoor seating on the 2nd and 3rd levels of the boat, with optional indoor seating on level 1 and 2. There are tables if you need them indoor to sit your stuff on and even work if you want to. There is some narration as you get close to the island telling you about unique things about some of the surrounding islands, but it is not overwhelming. If you show up 5 minutes before the boat is scheduled to leave, you can walk right on which is nice instead of having to show up early. The boat wasn't over crowded, so people could spread out and have space. If I were going back to Put-in-Bay, I would use them again. read more

The 10/6/24 Lighthouses & Islands Tour was a VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE! There was very little narration (as advertised) and they only slowed for two of the lighthouses! Basically this year's tour was blowing by everything and was a tour of the lake without seeing much of anything! I understand windy conditions and the waves can affect things with the tour, but if that's the case it should have been canceled or postponed because it certainly wasn't what we paid for or what they advertise the tour as being! Even when calling to purchase our tickets the day before the tour the employee that I spoke with was extremely rude and seemed like she didn't want to assist me at all and only wanted me to go online on a computer to purchase our tickets like I was inconveniencing her! It DEFINITELY was NOT worth the cost of our tickets and the parking fee for what we got! read more

Great trip and everyone was so professional, very nice, and pleasantly accommodating! Can't wait to go again to the islands!

Best friend and I purchased round-trip tickets for our first overnight stay on Put-In-Bay. September schedule (as are all schedules) are online and very easy to understand / interpret. We selected our departure on Saturday and our return on Sunday and since we had a few hours to burn before our departure - we used the time wisely and found (free) overnight public parking, walked around and did some shopping before having a lunch before boarding. The travelers are lighter in September so it was very easy to find a desirable spot for our journey - from Sandusky on Saturdays, you make a stop at Kelley's Island to drop off / pick up and then head to Put-In-Bay. Check the schedule. For our ride back, we ended up running ahead of schedule and arrived early enough to exchange our tickets for an earlier departure. Since there was enough seating, this was done as a courtesy and we were really appreciative. The staff is very friendly, efficient, yet keeps safety of all travelers in mind in a very professional and courteous manner. In short - everyone is very nice and appreciates your business. The round trip pricing is a great way to save a few dollars, too. read more
