The following reflects my personal opinions based on my experience. Kaled Management does the absolute bare minimum for their tenants. Jordan Platt, one of their managers, was handed his position by way of nepotism from my understanding and as always with nepo babies you get the worst possible blend of entitlement and ineffectiveness. His laziness, miserliness, callousness, sadism, and duplicitousness are only eclipsed by what I found to be functionally incompetent management. His consistently supercilious bearing underscores this arrogant incompetence. In my experience, he has a habit of implementing arbitrary changes without warning tenants, leaving them to deal with the resulting inconvenience, confusion, and expense. If you're thinking about moving into a building managed by Jordan Platt it is my opinion that you look elsewhere. Save yourself the trouble of having to deal with this nepo nightmare. read more

I live at one of their properties in Rego Park. At this location we have had multiple cases of package theft. I had many of my package stolen. However, when I tried to speak to the building super and/or president, they keep telling me there is nothing they can do! Seriously? Why then do we have cameras all over the place? I simply requested to view the cameras as I know exactly when my package was delivered and then stolen. They keep telling me there is nothing they can do. Why, as a paying tenant, I and many others have to go through this? We expect at minimum some level of safety and security! Kaled Management - Property Management Near Me - Westbury, New York

This management company will use the super as a scapegoat for everything but the super will do absolutely nothing. They will ignore blatant needs for repair like leaks and let them fester until the leak is severe. When two people in our building got into an altercation, the management company did NOTHING to address BLOOD IN THE HALLWAY. That's a massive bio hazard. The super will not ever be in the building let alone live nearby. They will gaslight you until you start to think you are crazy. They only care if money is involved and numerous 311 complaints still leads to them doing nothing. The buildings appear nice on the outside but are in disrepair not even three years into them being built. They do not care about you at all and just want to steal all your money. When I purchased, I discovered that the bathroom power vent did nothing. I was told that there was nothing that could be done. WHY??? I thought that in this State all bathrooms had to be vented or have a opening window, When I purchased, the rules and regulations clearly stated that only four people could live in an upstairs apartment. The people who live upstairs have three children, and a married couple.Nothing was done. I lived for 2 years at 135-30 Grand Central Pkwy, Briarwood, Queens, (which is one of the buildings managed by Kaled) and overall I had an ok experience. Quiet building, respectful tenants and Lenny, the super, was helpful when I needed him. He can be a little grumpy sometimes but it didn't bother me. (My grandpa is also grumpy). The process of vacating the apartment and receiving back the deposit was smooth, I received the full deposit without any issues. (But I left my apartment impeccable. They will need to repaint it but it wasn't my fault, it was cheap paint). My main complaint is about the rent increases yearly. I rented an studio for $1300 and after one year the rent increased to $1400 and it was going to go up to $1500 if I had stayed. That's an 8% increase yearly which is a lot. $1500 for a small studio in Briarwood, Queens, is way above market price. They probably have an agreement with the brokers, so they need people to move out frequently. Also, if I wanted to break the lease their penalty was going to be 2 month rent + forfeit of the deposit which is unreal. Most co-ops charge 1 month penalty or they make you pay rent until the unit is rented which usually happens within a month, so Kaled clearly doesn't want to retain good tenants like me who always paid rent on time and never caused any type of issues. read more

Extremely bad, they used to own the building I live on now. When they did, they had at least 7 violations from my family's apartment alone. They had so many complaints that they sold it off. They don't care about tenants, they're extremely slow to solve issues, and they're unreachable. read more

Kaled Management is the worst building management company we've dealt with in New York. 601 E 18th St. is neglected from a security and a maintenance standpoint and the building manager (who is also the Vice President of Kaled Management), Jordan, routinely ignores emails or sends rude responses to concerns over very serious issues. Anyone can get into the building due to non-existent security efforts. Packages frequently get stolen due to major issues with door locks, and the "security cameras" don't work, with inaccessible footage managed by SecureWatch24, who won't even turn footage over after receiving police subpoenas. Necessary maintenance issues go unsolved. Windows don't lock properly. The elevator frequently shuts down and sometimes traps people for hours. A fire in our downstairs neighbor's apartment lead to severe damage in our unit when firefighters needed to break all of our walls open to ensure smoke didn't get caught. We spent THREE ENTIRE MONTHS with giant holes all along our living room walls spreading smoke odor throughout our apartment because Jordan refused to send someone in sooner to literally just patch it up with drywall. It's a real shame, because the apartment itself is a wonderful space, and our neighbors are great. Kaled Management is a huge problem though, and I would recommend any New Yorker to outright avoid any property they control. read more

I used to love my building (601 E 18th St), but the management company is a true nightmare and building security is nonexistent. Thieves have been stealing from our lobby for months. There are video cameras in the lobby but they apparently don't work because management has ignored our pleas for help. The side door is constantly left open so anyone can walk in. Us tenants have literally started a group chat where we take turns sitting downstairs in the lobby to keep watch and grab deliveries. Building maintenance is gross: I've seen dead cockroaches and stains in the lobby. As for my apartment... Our windows have been broken since October(!) and management has done nothing 9 months later. There was a large fire in the unit below mine and Kaled Management didn't fix the fire damage (like holes in the walls) until literal months later. Lived in their Forest Hills property for around 2 years. Building is kept spotless by competent and responsive onsite staff. Not slumlords who ignore repair requests, at least in my location and experience. The super and porter were great. The corp. management team is responsive, which already is hard to find with other landlords. Not really sure what other posts are talking about, as all of my emails were answered within a business day. I honestly can't remove stars from price increases. This is a great neighborhood, and property values are increasing. Forest Hills is a central hub between Manhattan and Long Island, right in the middle of 2 airports, next to several popular locations, and a great school district. Well worth the increase to be walking distance from a Shake Shack & Chipotle. I've lived in slumlord owned apartments before, and have experienced first hand true incompetence and blatant disregard to state defined warranty of habitability. I feel some of these posts are exaggerations as I've never heard or witnessed anything close to what was mentioned. Can't comment on the "shady practices" as I was given a preferential rent rider and a RA/LR/1 form that defined the formula used to subsidize the cost of the renovation that increased my legal rent. I called the DHCR and after waiting for 2 weeks, was able to confirm that the #s all checked out. Maybe tenants should read their leases and do their own due diligence instead of signing blindly. read more

I wish I could leave the worst possible review about this company. We stayed five long years in an apartment at 135-10 Grand Central Pkwy, a Kaled Management property, and recently moved into our own house. The building super is a responsible person in that, if you needed a fix and let him know, he'd do it in a speedy manner. His assistants are nice, polite, hardworking people. No complaints. Where the super lacks are when it comes to public relations. He simply doesn't know how to talk like a decent human being. He's mostly a rude man. My experience with the management has been a nightmare! We maintained all formal procedures for notifying the management in advance of our departure. We expected no surprise at the end moments. A day before our departure, my wife & I discovered KM charged me for one extra month ($1800)--much later only reluctantly KM admitted it was "an error". It took three weeks before they returned it in the form of a bank check. The timing could not have been worse! We had our first mortgage payment to be due in a few days! What really horrible is the phlegmatic attitude of the KM leasing admin when I had been trying to reach out to her via all possible means: phone calls/voice messages/emails. Gonna keep it simple , they bullies ! They work with scare tactics to make tenants either move out or pay more rent . I've seen it happen for many years ! Only a limited few put up fights and always win but that's through court ! Kaled seems to love losing cases in court it's laughable! We own a co-op at Birchwood on the Green. We've had the pleasure of dealing with this company multiple times since we've lived there. They're a NIGHTMARE to deal with. We recently rented a party room for $200 + $300 security deposit. 3 weeks after the party I still haven't received the security deposit. I called maintenance to check the status and they submitted a deposit refund 3 weeks ago to Kaled. When I call Kaled they stated the deposit doesn't automatically get refunded.......WHAT???? Hahahaha what a f*&($%^ joke. Basically the owners wait 6 months to see if they hear from the client. If they don't the security deposit goes straight to profit. read more

It's been a few months since dealing with Kaled Management but I got a push notification about this and realized I should probably update my review. So where I last left off was I walked away from the unit I was approved to lease because 1) they wanted me to move in even earlier than they initially stated (even after we negotiated and they said I could move in still too early but not insanely early) 2) flip flop from management and too many demands 3) the broker asked for two months for her fee- never seen that before 4) broker also threatened that if I wanted to move in on my timeline then the rent would be $300 more per month 5) after I said no, the broker got nasty and said I would regret losing this unit because so many people wanted it BUT I looked on StreetEasy again like a month later and the rent for the unit I was approved for was actually $250 LOWER than what they were asking from me if I had moved in on their timeline (so without the $300 price hike) So much lying and scheming coming from this company. Definitely think twice before you rent with them or give them any info. read more

Those who have given these people 5 stars, you should reevaluate because you probably, if not already have been, screwed over by this management company. They are a modern slumlord company and are looking to get every penny out of you no matter what you agreed upon. They took over my apartment building a month after I moved in and everything after that has gone downhill. Lived in the apartment at 111-14 76th ave and the management is so bad, i had a bad neighbor downstairs (who has now moved out) and they would complain every minute of walking, sitting on the table to eat, going to the bathroom, even sleeping and think were making complete chaotic noise and mess when honestly it was nothing and its the floor boards are old so its normal that noise comes out. Even called the police one night at around 8-9 pm to complain that me and my sister are jumping on our beds and were in our 20's even the police didnt believe and we've complained to the management with letters explaining but no they ignored all the complain letters i've sent but when the downstairs neighbors sends one they listen and send us one back saying they want to bring us to court over "noises" and "disturbances" when those arent true and said she recorded us making noises at ther crack of dawn when were asleep and at the session played it but it was so low and you barely heard anything but wind from outside. This management is useless and doesn't help when needed but will do it when its something not to complain about and out of their control. been living here since september 2001 and its crappy as hell and these workers dont help at all read more

I looked at a couple apartments today which are managed by this company. Their application process is so expensive and invasive you would think you were buying a house. You have to pay $200-$600 for an application "administration" fee to lease or sublease apartments. Outrageous. In addition to the looking through your paystubs, tax return & credit check, you also have to list your savings, life insurance, student loans, and all other financial information. All for paying way too much for mediocre apartments. Agents are condescending too. read more

Do you like never getting your calls returned, dealing with rude and unhelpful employees, and paying ridiculous fees on top of a monthly maintenance fee on a coop you already own? Then Kaled is PERFECT for you! I have nothing good to say about this management company. They have been entirely unhelpful in every aspect of dealing with the coop my mother owned since she passed away. I haven't gotten a single call returned and have gotten hung up on more times than I care to remember. They refused to provide information about their legal representatives to MY legal representative (then how are things supposed to get worked out, exactly?), can't answer simple questions about things like bulk garbage disposal, and do things like charge a monthly assessment fee on top of the usual monthly maintenance fee for things like an old and failing boiler that they're too stubborn/broke to completely replace. And almost every single property manager, billing representative, share transfer representative, or assistant I have spoken to has either been extremely rude, unhelpful, or both. If you already live in a Kaled-owned property, I hope you're lucky enough to at least have a building super who is attentive and helpful. read more

Explain to me how a management company allows a tenant who has nightly screaming matches and throws urine out their window to remain a resident. Forget getting in touch with Jordan Platt. Any complaints will go unanswered. I have an ongoing roach problem due to terrible upkeep of the building and crappy renovations and all they could do is send their exterminator who literally does nothing other than tell me he feels bad for us and we shouldn't be dealing with this bc we are such clean people and Kaled Management is becoming a slum lord. Only concern is collecting rent without actually MANAGING their buildings. I can't wait until my lease is up so I can get the hell out of here. I have lived in their Forest Hills property for about five years now and the property is kept clean and the staff has been absolutely wonderful. Extremely responsive to any repair requests or any other kind of issues/questions that we may have. We have been very happy tenants in this building. Recently, I had two separate issues regarding rent questions and Carolyn Mallazzo went above and beyond to help me. Super quick responses and extremely helpful and professional. I haven't really worked with anyone else in the corporate office but for both issues, she was easy, kind, sympathetic and overall so willing to help. read more

The apartment in Murray Hill was absolutely disgusting and no place for a human to live in. Full of roaches and mice. Garbage is always piled up in the main floor where you have to walk through if you enter from the side door. If you think the rent is cheap, all the money you have to spend every month on buying roach and mice traps adds up and it's not worth it. Even tried not cooking for months to try to get rid of the pests but nothing works. Also the management is terrible. They only care about money and everyone is rude and nasty to you if you ever need to contact them. Keep buildings clean but not very caring company when it comes to tenants. My apt got flooded badly and they didn't even show up or call to see if Im ok. When super called them to report damages, they just told that damages will not be covered because it was a natural disaster. Ok, but at least ask " are you ok?", "can we assist with anything?". One huge plus, super Lenny is very very good and always there for you. Yes, a bit grumpy, but gets his job done always. Maintenance staff is friendly, but the management company..... not so much. Also, read your lease carefully. Remember to check your "legal rent" on the lease, they will do yearly increases based on that number, not preferencial rent. My "legal rent" was close $5000 for a small studio! in Queens in the middle of nowhere. Yes, $5000. I want to see anyone pay that much for apt of this size in this location. Way above market. Their employees are reckless. Had one of their drivers drive over the sidewalk and hit my shoe. I called the corporate office because I wanted to know if they were aware of their terrible drivers. They know who it was but ended the case because "he had another story" and his partner couldn't speak English. I wanted to talk to the manager but the receptionist wouldn't give me the name but said he would call me. They never did. It would be professional if they contacted me directly but they don't. I've been a happy tenant for the last two years and just extended my lease for another year with Kaled. Have a great relationship with the Super and his team -- who had been on point with fixing up our place whenever we need (e.g., window coming loose, sink leaking). Carolyn and Anat, the point team that oversee leases, were very helpful and responsive when I wanted to make a slight timeline adjustment to the new lease. Got to a good resolution pretty quickly. Maybe one downside is the no-pet policy (but that's not Kaled's fault -- it's just one of their policies). I've been wanting a dog but have postponed that until later in the future where we move to a pet-friendly spot. read more

I was in a real bind with a moving company. I was moving out of state and the moving company made a last minute shift in terms of scheduling and what they can offer. I reached out to Jordan Platt and his team and they were extremely accommodating to my needs. They were very understanding of the situation and provided storage for my belongings until I could reschedule another day for a move. They were very responsive and really bailed me out of a tough situation. I am very grateful and I would definitely lease from them again if the opportunity arose. read more

They have a thorough financial vetting process for each applicant which ensures that each tenant is credible. The building is kept very clean by maintenance and the super is responsive and fantastic! Love dealing with this company. Every time I call, I ask for Anat and if she isn't there, I speak with her assistants. They are also great. Luckily, I haven't had to call often, but everyone is so super sweet and kind. Throughout Covid, the super and porter made sure we were safe and the building was clean. This company is run by a bunch of monkeys. My husband and I applied for an apartment there recentlly. We are moving to the city since he got a new job. Those fools turned us down because he doesn't have pay stubs to show yet from his new employer. THAT'S WHY WE'RE MOVING IDIOTS...we have good credit, 6 years of good employment and housing relationships, but no. That's not good enough for them. They'd rather give the apt to someone who might have less income but has worked at that job for at least 3 months. What buffoons! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. Worste management company every and they are crooks. My mom and her friend lived in a building managed by this company for more than 20 years. When her friend moved out, (she did not break the lease) a month later he gets a call from the collections company saying that he owes the management company more than $6000 in damages. There were normal wear and tear at the apartment and maybe some small items, but nothing that amounts to that much. On top of that, there were no bills, notices sent, calls made... they just sent it straight to collections. My mom's friend got a lawyer and the lawyer contacted the collections department, never hear anything again. They know that they cannot provide documentation nor roof for that insane amount. My mom and ! moved out about a month ago, and guess what the SAME THING happens. Collections agency calls saying that we owe them money. I know for a fact that they have my mom's forwarding address, but they did not send any bills, letters nor did they call. We did not get a list of the itemized list of the damages. The nerve of these people sending things straight to collections and not even giving us notices, they have no consideration for people's credit. Well, believe me we will be getting a lawyer and taking htem to small claims court, see if they hcan back up the claims of the damages. KALED will find any way they can not to give you back your deposit and then they will send some bogus charges to collections. If you fight back and get a lawyer then they back down, but they count on most people not fighting back. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM read more

I recently moved out of a Kaled Management Apartment Building in Forest Hills. I had the pleasure of dealing with Anat, Christian and Carolyn. They were all super sweet and kind in assisting me with coordinating the move out with the building super and expediting the return of my security deposit. I couldn't believe that while they told me it would take up to 60 days to get my security back it took less than 30! I was so happy since my second mortgage payment was due in a week! Terrible. First, they asked for an exorbitant security deposit because of a small dog, so they got leverage over us. They also misled us -- we specified that we could only take the place if there was no construction since we work at home, and then they proceeded to do construction for 3 months in the apartment directly overhead -- INCREDIBLY LOUD. They made no attempt to compensate or apologize. The "new" construction in our apartment also looked good initially but the quality is very low. Stay away. read more

I worked with several property management companies in NY when it comes to sales of Co-Ops and without flaw, working with Ms. Susan Rubin, the transfer agent at Kaled has been so helpful in getting the job done. Her professionalism in returning my calls and emails with my concerns and questions is amazing. I have done many deals with Kaled and all applications, board interviews and closings went very smoothly. I feel a management company that is thorough in the application and interview process is a plus in this industry. read more
