The table on the dock at Kaler's

Kalers is the best way to enjoy a lovely harborside lunch in Boothbay! They have a great deck out back over the harbor. Food is fresh, made to order with large portions and fabulous flavors. And they have a full bar if you want a drink!

2 lobsters and fried clams and oysters. Don't worry.....I had help eating all this!

We have come here several times on our annual visits to Maine. Friendly and efficient staff, eat inside or outside. Great water views from outside. The whole lobsters are delicious and the fried clams and oysters excellent. Delicious onion rings and fries to compliment any menu choice. Free drink refills too!

Grilled chicken wrap, with substituted onion rings.

The service was great! Friendly staff that helped explain some menu items. It was a bit chilly that day, so we sat by the window with a great view of the harbor.

Just 2.5 stars. You place your order at the counter and pick it up when it's ready, no table service and using disposable dinnerware. Average clam chowder. Can't really mess up a burger and steamers. Scallop dinner was a huge disappointment and way overpriced. A few tiny pieces of bay scallops that's overcooked is not worth $32 with baked potato and carrots. The picture make them look good size pieces... but they were tiny, chewy and over cooked. Maybe get their lobster dinners or fried dishes.. but the broiled seafood dinner was not worth it for me. The only positive was a friendly bartender making good drinks. Honestly, I prolly won't be coming back here again.

We stopped in to satisfy an evening chowder craving. Their flight of chowders was perfect! Tonight it was traditional clam chowder, a buttery haddock chowder, and a spicy lobster corn chowder. We also split a side of tater skins (could have been a meal alone!). While everything was truly delicious and it was a lovely evening to sit outside and dine, the spicy lobster corn chowder was the star of the show! You have GOT to try it!!!

The staff was friendly. Though this is a sit down restaurant, you order and pay for your food when you walk in and they give you a number. If you want an alcoholic beverage, you then go to the bar area to order and pay for your drink. You then can find sitting either inside or outside deck. They will cal your number for you to get your food. The food is good. I got their lobster pie. It was filed with lobster, they didn't short on the lobster and the lobster bisque soup that had lots of lobster pieces in it.

I like this restaurant which is very comfortably casual. We managed to get us a seating area by the dock overlooking the bay. I ordered a lobster roll which was delicious and was very happy. Assembled clam chowder which was great in addition to the fried clams Did get a little hot there but if you're early enough you can get a table comfortably for 3 to 4 people outside since there's umbrellas.

Second time we visited, we both had the lobster roll with mayo. Again, a very generous portion topped with a large whole claw meat. What we especially liked was that it wasn't swimming in mayo, but just enough to lightly coat the meat so the true flavor shines through. A true Maine lobster roll and so reasonably priced! I was already in a foul mood, walking in here set me into straight sensory overload. It's a bar where they sing. I am unable to get inebriated enough to enjoy bars where they sing any longer. Call me miserable, maybe I suppose. In addition to the merry old fella belting it out on the mic, we had the joy of having some drunk guy in a large group behind us try and out sing him without a microphone. He even challenged the old guy singing to a form of a duel. Anyway I was so off, I cannot remember anything about my server at all. Nothing. I do remember almost screaming and running out. I sat there trying not to lose it while my wife had the time of her life. Every song made it worse, everyone else is singing, I am dying. When the guy took a break, guess what, dickhead from the crowd goes up and takes over. Shots helped at this point and the weed is kicking in well at this point. Now I'm hungry... My food was inedible and I'm pretty sure incomplete as well. The worst flatbread in the history of flatbreads. C's looked pretty good actually so I am sure her experience was quite different than mine. I hope to never return. '25 - extra

For $100 (cash or check only), you receive a 55-minute narrated boat tour, a bonafide Downeast feast (fish chowder, 1 lb. of steamers, 2 lobsters, corn on the cob, a baked potato, an onion, a hard-boiled egg, a large piece of blueberry cake & either coffee, tea, iced tea or water). You can purchase sodas ($2) or alcoholic beverages. We indulged in the light & tasty Cabbage Island Aide ($10), with Pinnacle blueberry vodka, pink lemonade & a splash of club soda garnished with Maine blueberries. Only cash is accepted for drinks and gift shop purchases. After finding a picnic table, either indoors or out, your server will take your drink order & bring your fish chowder. Shortly afterwards, the dinner bell will ring & you head down to the pit where the food is cooked to pick up your meal. Our delightful young server, Griffin, graciously offered to pick up our trays & bring them to our table. He remained attentive & solicitous the entire time we were there. We couldn't have asked for better service. There is a gratuity jar on each table. Tip generously! These kids do a fabulous job! We were also pleased that the two Moore brothers who have owned this family business for 38 years stopped by every table individually to ensure that all were having a good time. And at the end of the day, they stood on the dock waving as our boat left Cabbage Island. Such a gracious gesture! I'm looking forward to making this an annual event. Please be aware, though, that parking is expensive in Boothbay Harbor. There is metered street parking, if you can find an open spot, but be prepared to walk a distance to the ticket booth. Close by lot parking cost $50.

We ordered fried calamari & scallops wrapped in bacon and we each had a clam roll. I can't eat white potatoes as it's inflammatory for my auto immune- no sweet potato was available - I do prefer them -or used to them- and so I got asparagus (odd for a substitute but it's veggies) this was a super treat I'm not sure how the crab should have tasted but it's not what I'm used to growing up so for me , I personally didn't like it and I didn't think the flavor was good - I added lemon- didn't seem to help. The atmosphere was great but the concentration was on that back room. The crab roll could have been better as I've had them before, calamari was good and scallops too. Also noting most of these restaurants never have NON COLA DIET SODA - It sits right in the harbor - the waitress engaged in conversation - a lot of these folks are immigrants on a work visa returning to the Harbor during summers & then fly to their countries until the next summer.
