Everything was delicious! Nelly was very attentive and knowledgeable. We started with oysters and their raspberry mignonette was fantastic! I could drink it by the bottle. We also really enjoyed one of their deserts, the hazelnut truffle. Imagine a Ferrero roche with a more creamy middle. Apparently it was made by their sister restaurant, Harborside treats. SKIP THE $33 mock lobster roll. First of all. Don't believe some of the pics you see here. The lobster roll was the biggest disappointment in the 8 days I was in Maine. It was chopped lobster salad. NOT the traditional lobster roll anyone else sells OR like the pictures shown on the photos page here. And there was about 3 bites worth of that. Service was impeccable but had I seen the pics of the lobster rolls on Yelp before I ate here I'd have sent the lobster roll back! read more

We stopped in here on a rainy cool day. Was glad to find it warm even being seated on the deck area (it's enclosed) really enjoyed the service. Super friendly. At the end our waiter became the bar tender and so we waited a little longer but someone noticed apologized profusely and they gave us complimentary tasting of a special drink. We had a delicious salad and a crab/ lobster sandwich. If I went back I would ask them for their specialty didn't find the sandwich memorable. Nothing wrong but for being the east coast expected more, enjoyed the environment and would try again. read more

We were so hungry I forgot to take photos except for dessert. We went for lunch. Service impeccable. The servers were so out going and set the tone for a delightful lunch. Harborside? Technically, but expect a view of mostly parking lot. While the bartenders were wonderful and the craft cocktails divine, we found the food sub par for all the raves this place gets. Shrimp dumpling appetizer was dry and tasteless and the chicken with the Caesar salad was tough and overcooked. Drinks aside, I can't say I'm in a rush to go back. read more

This place is horrible 1. Food quality was no better than a Red Lobster or Ling John Silvers 2. Portions were small for the price. When I mean small, 5 scallops, greasy, poorly breaded, and soggy. Fries were garbage. My Brother in law got the seafood platter and it was tiny for the price-same thing soggy, poorly breaded and greasy. 3. Drinks were super weak and all show. 4. Waitstaff had a five star attitude for a 1 star restaurant 5. Sushi was bait quality. Absolute garbage Anyone who gives this place a great review is high. read more

We ate here before going to Gardens Aglow. Great experience. Excellent cocktails, excellent appetizers, very good main dishes. The grilled octopus appetizer is outstanding! The espresso martini and the mocktails are also excellent. We were a party of six, the server was attentive and efficient. The land entrees were excellent, and the seafood is outstanding. The French fries were so good! A few small things for 4 stars instead of 5 The branzino was a little bland, but cooked perfectly. The spicy margarita was not spicy. The crispy rice cake appetizer was not described well on the menu, and thus was a surprise to be 3 very small bites, although there were delicious and beautiful, there were over priced for 3 small bites. read more

We arrived early and got seated right away. Our waiter Chuck showed up and quickly admitted it was his first day. We asked for recommendations but he had none. We got our orders in and waited quite a bit with no indication of the status. He did show up and apologized for the long wait and said our food would be out in a few minutes. It showed up and looked great. I got the spare ribs with mushroom risotto and my wife got the cauliflower steak. My ribs and risotto were extremely good and cooked well. My wife's cauliflower steak was a presentation neither have seen before for this. Not really a steak but a few heads. I would truly call it a salad. Service, ambiance and location are 5 ! Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best yet will give them the benefit of being early in the season. The lobster rolls are tiny and mostly bread and French Fries on the plate. Sushi was an even bigger disappointment. Clam chowder was awesome! Came back for lunch on a Sunday. I had the lobster taco which was wonderful except it came on a corn shell - but my bad, I forgot to ask. But the rest of it was amazing. One of my dining companions had fish and chips with haddock. They were excellent and came with fries. Another person ordered a hamburger and it was satisfactory. The service was good and it was a little quieter than a previous trip. this restaurant can be a little loud so the ambience today was very nice. We ate at the Harborside last night. Cute place, we had a spot on the porch. Staff was attentive and friendly, very good service. The food tasted very good but the portions were quite small for the price. The seafood alfredo had about 8 or 9 pieces of seafood, and very little linguini. We were disappointed. read more

Great Mocktails, Bland Food, and a Disappointing Experience We decided to go for a late lunch, not realizing it was already 4 p.m. and they had just switched over to the dinner menu. They were kind enough to let my husband order the lunch burger since he's not a seafood fan, and the dinner menu was mostly seafood. I ordered sushi, which made up about half the menu options. A few minutes after placing our order, our server -- who was great -- came over and explained that sushi wouldn't be available until 4:30 because the sushi chef was on break. He offered to bring the menu back so I could choose something else. Honestly, there wasn't anything else I really wanted, and I wasn't in the mood to spend $30-40 on a dinner entrée, so I ended up ordering a burger as well. If the restaurant has already switched to the dinner menu, and a large portion of that menu is sushi, there really shouldn't be a wait to order sushi because the sushi chef is on break. When the food arrived, my burger and fries were piping hot, but my husband's were not. We assumed his food had been sitting while they waited for mine so they could bring everything out together. We both ordered our burgers medium. Mine came out medium, but my husband's was medium well -- again, possibly from sitting under the warmer. The burgers were juicy, but they had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Even the cheese was bland. It was honestly the most flavorless burger I've ever had. The best part of the meal was definitely the mocktails -- the Lime Lavender Refreshers were delicious! Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not recommend this restaurant and would not return. read more

Absolutely phenomenal experience at Harbor Side 1901 Bar & Grill! We met the owners in Augusta the night before, and they were so kind that we decided to drive out to Bar Harbor the very next day and wow, it was so worth it. We started with the calamari, dumplings, and vegetable rolls each one was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully plated. The fish and chips were crispy perfection, flaky inside, and easily some of the best we've had in Maine. The Key Lime Pie martini was beyond phenomenal sweet, smooth, and pure dessert magic in a glass. The Purple Bloom was just as stunning, both in taste and presentation. Our waiter was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, and the view of the dock made the whole meal feel special. You can really tell there's heart behind this place. Note to the owners: sad we missed you this time, but this visit was unforgettable we'll definitely be back soon! read more

Price point: a little higher than average however, this was not average food it was great food! Additionally this is a tourist area so expect a little elevation in prices.
