Cute small shop with a sweet and friendly dog named Paul to greet you! The owner mentioned her daughter's friend makes the tie dye line of clothing at the front of the store - very creative and local! This shop has a small footprint but fits a niche market here in town. Unfortunately I have more jeans than I could ever need at this point in my life so I didn't spend long in this shop. They had cute masks and fabrics for masks as well but it was all pretty pricey. read more

This is THE BEST boutique in beautiful downtown Truckee. I cannot say enough good things about this super chic, modern yet comfortable store. Yes, the clothing is not cheap but high quality, trendy, yet classic pieces that you can wear for years to come. Christy was so helpful with combining some cool outfits that I never would have thought of pairing but it totally worked! She's an absolute doll and I feel grateful to have met her & her beautiful family. (I left there feeling like I made a new friend who's truly genuine and has great style!) This boutique has very unique clothing. I really wish that it wasn't so far from home. They currently have a facebook page which they update with their new merchandise. I came into this store after going to the North Star location which had superb customer service, and they told me about this location so I was curious to what kind of clothes they had here since I fell in love with the items I bought the day before. All their clothes are very high-end but very pricey. Their boutique had a variety of clothes in an assortment of colors. I felt that it stood out from others I've gone to. All the material was so soft, and the designs were unique in their own way. But you can tell everything was of great quality. I was told that they did free jean alterations with purchase, so I decided to try on some jeans since I'm 4'10 and always need to get my jeans altered. I was kindly escorted to a dressing room after being asked what type of jeans I desired. Within the large stack of jeans I chose 2 with the help of Christy who helped me throughout the process. She also helped me order another pair of jeans from Los Angeles. She took down my information for the alternations, and shipped them to my house for free! I just got the first two pairs of jeans last week and they fit me perfectly! And there was a cute note in the box from Christy telling me she shipped me the first two to make sure I got them as quick as possible and that the 3rd one would be well on its way after coming from LA. I'm super excited, and would love to go there again. Both locations of this boutique I've gone to I've had a wonderful experience and great customer service. read more

I've shopped in this store for years, buying things for my daughters, granddaughters, and myself. Today I went to the Truckee store to pick up some birthday gifts, and I walked out upset and empty handed. There is way too much political merchandise (all one sided) scattered around the store, no escaping it. I found myself in a campaign headquarters, when I just wanted to do some apolitical shopping. So disappointing. Why would a retailer risk alienating 1/2 of the customers who walk into their store. I guess they don't care to have that business. No problem, I'll take it somewhere where there is either a balanced, or better yet, no political agenda on display. read more

I started shopping at the Kalifornia Jean Bar two years ago and now shop there exclusively. The staff is exceedingly nice. Owners Christy and Mike Hall treat every customer as a friend, always bending over backwards to provide great service. I can recall one afternoon when I was in the store and Mike left for the airport to get a customer their newly altered jeans before they boarded the airplane. Honestly, I was shocked that a store owner could care so much. I had never seen such service before. The Jean Bar also offers free alterations, which makes buying jeans from them even more convenient. Not only do they pull the most flattering jeans for your figure, they can bring jeans up in length and tighten the waist as well. The jeans you buy from them end up being custom fit for no extra cost. Unless I am mistaken, I have not known another store to do this. Every time I go into the store I am greeted by name and made to feel more comfortable than I do in my own home. Kudos to the Kalifornia Jean Bar, you have done a fabulous job and Reno is lucky to have you!!! read more

This is by far the worst store I have ever been to. The owner accused me of stealing after trying on a woven hat and asked me to take it out of my bag. I was appalled and pulled out 2 woven scarves that I had bought 2 stores down. She was embarrresed and I was mortified. I have never stolen anything in my life and I would never. I told her how awful it was that she would accused Of this and she then offered a gift card. I told her I would not be back and she should be 100 percent next time she accused anyone of stealing -much less a mother w two daughters and a husband who is a doctor in town. i could buy a lot in there but after that experience I will never go back. A beautiful store with a well-curated selection of my favorite brands including Rails, Aviator Nation, Zadig & Voltaire, Citizens, Paige and many, many more. I also think the service here is excellent (regardless of what some of the other reviews state) and feel welcome every time. It's isn't inexpensive, but they carry high quality merchandise and the prices are the same as if you looked at similar lines and pieces at other stores. The best women's and men's store in Truckee! The owners bend over backwards to help. I have always been greeted with a warm hello and always feel welcomed and valued! If they don't have something in your size, they will call one of their other stores and get it brought over. The quality and selection they sell is consistently top end. There is something for everyone, every budget! I like shopping in a non-pressure environment and this boutique is never pushy! My husband who is not a big shopper loves going in and always finds cool, unique items. I never go toTruckee without stopping at KJB for a quick looksie. The best customer service ever! My daughter bought a cowboy hat for me for my birthday but it was too large. The lady at the store exchanged the hat AND changed the hat's embellishment (a stone and leather hat band) so my daughter wouldn't know I had to exchange the very personal gift she'd bought me. I have never been treated with such disrespect as I was in the Truckee store. My daughter has a store credit that she tried to use in the Truckee store. There was very little selection in her size and when she asked about another brand of jeans that she had seen in a boutique store in the Bay Area the response from the store employee was rude and demeaning. We were told to try the store in Tahoe City for a larger selection. We visited the store in Tahoe City. We waited in the store for over 10 minutes while the store employee visited with her friend. She never asked to help us. This was not a good shopping experience. read more

Charming and unassuming boutique in the middle of historic downtown Truckee! Part vintage, part bohemian... Delightfully unexpected and unexpectedly delightful. They have all sorts of lovely and decently-priced trinkets, blouses, dresses, espardilles (yesss), and jewelry, and the shopstress is helpful and kind, though not intrusive. *Almost* worth going out into the middle of nowhere, i.e. Truckee, for.
