This review is more of a rebuttal to negative reviews that I read after my doctor referred me to Kallgren. Having been to this office four times now, I can say that they have been friendly and professional at every visit. The complaints I noticed are "rude reception behavior" and "aggressive tactics" by the billing department along with the typical petty bs that someone had to wait longer than they expected (a frustrating but reasonably common event at any medical facility). read more

I am being sued by Kallgren Dermatology for a $191 bill. I have tried to speak with the billing department and the collections agency. The bill has escalated to $480 and I am now being summoned to appear in court during the time of COVID. When speaking to collections when trying to resolve they said, "we will see you in court" This was after the collections agency sent a police officer to serve me. I have been a patient for ten years. Glad I selected Kallgren Dermatology for some skin care needs. Very positive experience from start to finish, as their customer service is excellent, professional and pleasant. All the paperwork is on their site, so it made the initial stages so much easier. My appointment was on time, Lisa at the reception desk was really nice and thorough, while Kirsten on the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant to deal with throughout. Brooke Lewis was my dermatologist, and was superb to interact with, extremely knowledgable, helpful, and insightful. I appreciated her guidance. Front desk reception chick is incredibly rude - and I've been coming here for years. She's new, but precious one was moved to back office which is good as she was rude as well. I come here for the care, not the front desk. But I can no longer "recommend" a 5-star if the experience from check-in to discharge doesn't deserve it. Another (very young) girl came from the back to tell the receptionist not to schedule a patient for 2 back-to-back appts. Further they discussed how rude patients were, not to let them bully her, "Not your fault because I know you weren't trained"... Wow, what is going on here, Dr Kallgren? This business is so competitive now. Is the clinic actually closing soon? Sure seems the goal is to disappoint patients, not encourage them. read more

I've been to a different dermatologist multiple times who kept doing biopsies on a sore that didn't heal. I finally (thankfully) got an appointment at Kallgren Dermatology. I'm so impressed with Kallgren Dermatology and PA Kiersten. Kiersten immediately sent in a skin scraping to a lab, which determined that I had a treatable antibiotic resistant skin infection, and she prescribed an antibiotic that would work. This is after months of getting treatment that didn't work, and, in fact caused me harm. I'm a lifetime patient at this medical practice! read more

Appointment was taken right on time and they provided me information and care that I was not able to get after visiting multiple other offices. (Appointment date: early October 2017) Thought I might as well post this review while I'm waiting here in their office, after 15 minutes of waiting and then being informed they're 10 minutes behind still. And I arrived 15 minutes early to fill out new patient paperwork, so expect to block off over an hour for your appointment here. The front desk person very intentionally rolled her eyes at me when I handed her my paperwork. She stated that there had been "way too many new patients" that day. If there are really too many new patients for the office to handle, then they should stop accepting new patients. Normally stuff like this doesn't bother me, but I felt that she was beyond unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Additionally, as I type this, she is complaining to another woman that she doesn't get paid enough to "deal with this." There are only two people in the waiting room, so I don't understand her frustration. It gave me a really unwelcome feeling, like I made a mistake by coming here. UPDATE: Because I liked the PA I ended up seeing, I give this place two stars instead of one. She was very friendly! The office was clean and simple, nothing fancy, which is just fine. I wish it was been a more thorough appointment, as they didn't do the typical stuff (skin check, ask any questions, etc.) that a dermatologist's office does, even when I told them I hadn't been to a derm in a few years. I was in and out in 5 minutes, so maybe they were just rushing to get to the next person waiting. Additionally, don't expect to see Dr. Kallgren, as she's usually gone and most of the patients are seen by PAs. But I seriously don't understand why they don't get a new front desk person, because she's hurting the image of Kallgren. I have struggled with acne since 8th grade and have tried everything in the book from topical creams to antibiotics and absolutely nothing worked. When my old dermatologist retired and I moved to Colorado, I came here to the Kallgren clinic and I am so glad I did. Right off the bat they were so helpful and gave me options on the treatment, from which I decided to go with acutane. While it was a bit of a difficult process the Kallgren clinic was there every step of the way and helped me out so much. It's been a year since I've gone to the clinic and actually the only reason I am writing this review today is I got a singular small pimple on my forehead this morning and it reminded me of the times where my face was so covered in acne it would hurt to apply makeup foundation. Just wow! I visited a handful of other incompetent dermatologists in Boulder until I found Dr Koger. She is very nice and doesn't rush you. I have a complicated issue and she has clearly shown that she thought about it after seeing me, coming up with new ideas for what is going on in between visits. I highly recommend her! read more

I'm a huge fan of this place. After going to several other dermatologists for a seemingly unsolvable problem, this place was recommended to me by one of my physicians. They did a painless and quick biopsy, prescribed me a steroid cream without hydrocortisone in it (finally), and the problem went away in 2 weeks, after two years of struggling. Scheduled an appt here to see a dermatologist based on the fact that it was going to be several months to get into my regular dermatologist (Rocky Mtn Derm). They were able to get me in within a couple weeks. I saw the PA and she was awesome -- very friendly, genuine and efficient during our visit. Pretty sure that I am going to start coming here on a regular basis and switch from my previous derm office. read more

I've been several times with my kids and they are quick, efficient, friendly, and able to schedule us soon after I called for our appointments. Once I went for a really bad case of poison ivy and I liked that they did not recommend oral steroids if at all possible, gave me enough samples of a few types of steroid cremes which worked miracles. They were wonderful with my kids (12, 16) and have quickly and painlessly removed benign moles on both myself and my daughter. Thanks to the team at Kallgren! read more

Former Patient and employee here. This place is absolutely awful. Billing department lady, Debbie, is the most hostile person besides the man who calls himself the "practice manager" who is barely there except to yell at employees and to make people feel lesser than to deal with whatever issue he has going on that day. Constant yelling in front of patients at their employees. The place is festering with bad energy. It's a doctors office! The atmosphere should not be this way. All the doctors and PAs care about is money. They overwork their Medical assistants and admin staff and have the ill equipped, oversharing, and loose cannon billing department lady running the show! And she is scary. The practice manager hires people based off of looks and physicality! Even if they are not qualified ha! No one that works there is happy and is always in a bad mood. Skin checks take ten minutes, TOPS. That is not enough time to thoroughly check a full body. Whether you work there or are a patient there you will be treated like dirt at some point. Beware Kallgren Dermatology billing department is extremely unethical and predatory. My entire family had been seeing Brooke the PA and had followed her from another practice. Brooke is competent and a pleasant person. In July of 2016 my husband received a threatening phone call from the billing department. I had paid his bill 4 days before but the woman that called threatened to throw him in jail and ruin his life. I called the next day to explain that I had paid and perhaps that she applied the money incorrectly or to someone's account. The woman hung up on me. I called multiple times and my calls were not returned. Fast forward 8 months and Kallgren turned me over to collection. I called again and asked to speak to the doctor to discuss the situation. My calls were not returned. I disputed the issue via letter and received a response that did not address my payments. The predatory bill collector they sold my incorrect bill ignored my written response and filed suit. This has caused me a great deal of distress over $175, which I discovered was added to my bill with ill intent by the billing woman to create this scenario. I do not know if Brooke or the doctor ever got my phone calls but I would not recommend their practice based on this traumatic experience. I have been a loyal client that referred many people to the practice and they have treated me and my family very badly. read more

My husband was referred to Kallgren to treat a lesion on his face. They used liquid nitrogen, but not enough as the lesion returned and he had to have more extensive surgery at another office. The second Dr. said they hadn't used enough liquid nitrogen. Also he went to a follow up appointment and they refused to see him because he had a lesion that was not sufficiently healed, yet they charged the co-pay and would not refund it. There are plenty of dermatologists in Boulder so avoid this one!!! read more

Wonderful experience. I made an appointment with the Doctor herself as opposed to one of the PAs. I was running 5 minutes late and they were okay with that. First, Dr. Koger's assistant Katie was so kind and helpful, willing to take her time explaining things in detail and very personable. She made sure I was very clear on all the directions of medications and picking up prescriptions. Dr. Koger was very knowledgeable, caring, and understanding. She answered all questions thoughtfully and with care. She was happy to be working and made me feel like I could rest assured with her doctors orders. Overall great experience, highly recommend. Do not go here. I was charged all sorts of money for tests that I was not even aware the doctor had ordered. When I raised this concern, they were very rude and not willing to acknowledge that it is reasonable to inform someone before charging them for expensive outside tests. read more

Some friends recommended a few Boulder dermatologists, but they couldn't get me in quickly, so I just called around randomly and found several openings in Cathy Koger's schedule. So that is a plus. I left the appointment not sure what caused the freakish redness on my face, but was given a prescription, so hopefully that'll be the remedy. If I wasn't looking for the first dermatologist with openings, then I'd get an appointment with the ones my friends recommended vs going back. read more
