    Dryest Baklava ever

I have ordered from them before and the food was great. Today I received old dry meat, no sauce and the baklava has no syrup or honey and it is also dry. Sigh

Ordered dinner from DoorDash. The 1/3 lb angus burger was moist & delicious. The falafel was crispy & tasty. The fried mushrooms were not good at all. Definitely will not order those again. Would definitely get the burger again.

First time ordering here despite living about a mile away. Falafel was raw in the middle. The fries were limp and soggy.

I'm a fan of this fast casual establishment. I didn't really know this complex existed but on my way to try Dirty Dough next door, I saw this place and decided to give it a try since I needed to find something for lunch (although some would argue that eating cookies is lunch itself). Kalos Grill had a promotion on the window with for lunch specials for $6. While they had several appealing options on their menu, I opted for a gyro pita. If the gyro is good, you know the place is good, am I right?! I appreciated the fact that we could see our order being made and the transparency of their ingredients and the assembling of my order. The owner came walked in the middle of my experience at this establishment and he was so nice. He greeted me, made sure I was taken care of and ensured that I was being charged the right amount for my order. I was accidentally overcharged but he made sure I got the difference back. He also said bye on my way out. That interaction alone made me like the place without even taking a bite of the pita. The gyro pita was fabulous and I'm not just saying that because Kalos had great customer service. The gyro was tasty and they gave me a hefty amount of meat. It was flavorful and I liked the additional veggies to really balance out the sandwich. The pita texture was great and it had a great bread to filling ratio. The gyro was filling and I didn't feel hungry until hours later. Since I work in Tempe, I'm happy to know that I have some great options while support small businesses that know how to do it right!

I've written before about small family run businesses. But some don't live up to their hype, Kalos Grill on the other hand is exceptional. My coworker Cam and I were headed next door for the Tuesday Chicken special, but stopped here instead. Both of us are glad we did. First, a word about the owner, Peter. He is an amazing ambassador for his business. As we walked in, he greeted us warmly and asked if this was our first visit. Since it was, he brought over samples of Steak, saffron flavored rice and chicken. He's incredible fun guy who came to The Valley to attend GCU. He kept coming over offering us other food items to enjoy. Wow! Suffice it to say our meal was incredible. I ordered a Gyro ($6.95) and Cam the Steak. He skipped his Keto fast to order the steak after trying it. Yes, it was that good! See photos. My order was less than $9, including a soda. Great new place. RIP FlameBroiler! Long live Peter and his Kalos Grill. Enjoy!

I was staying at the nearby hotel and wanted a healthy meal that wouldn't break the bank. I found Kalos Grill to fit the ticket. I eat as close to whole food plant based as I can so this place really met my needs. I'm glad I used Yelp to find my way to their counter. My Rice bowl with veggies and hummus was delicious. I also had a small sample of their lentil soup ant that was good too. Give it a shot. I am giving it a high rating mostly because of the service. The guys who helped me were awesome and oh so courteous.

    Ubereats receipt

This review is based on an Ubereats delivery. I ordered the meat shawarma but I think I actually got the filet mignon as it was all beef and so tender. Hubby had the gyros plate and reluctantly shared with me! The gyro meat is very not dry and very flavorful. The saffron rice was well seasoned an perfect texture. However, the vegetables was just reheated frozen vegetables with a dab of butter and salt. The cilantro jalapeño hummus was very flavorful, much better than the roasted pepper hummus. We got a deal where we got a free order of hummus if we spend over $20. So we got the plain hummus and it was decent. A bit lighter on garlic and tahini, may have been slightly watered down. The pita was probably just store bought, nothing to rave about but came warm, wrapped in tin foil. Overall, great solid food. I will definitely order from Kalos again!

I ask for my salad in separate box, you get more and dressing doesn't mix with rice. Very fresh.

After telling James, the owner, about the hard and dry Al Pastor I wrote about in my first 3 star review on 12/17/20, he said he removed Al Pastor right away from his menu, because he found his employees (like college age kids) did not take the care to grill the expensive cuts of pork that he chooses to purchase, so that it isn't overcooked. Indeed Al Pastor is no longer on the backlit menu board. Kalos Grill has the best gyros I ever had in my life! I found other restaurants' gyros, like Green Corner in Mesa, was always dried out, because the restaurant keeps it on the heat source turning and turning while all the juices drip out and moisture in the meat dissipates. Well smart James puts small amounts of freshly shaved gyros in a covered steamer, so the meat stays moist, soft, and hot. When supply gets low, he shaves more, so the steam doesn't blanch out the flavor. James told me he buys the best quality gyros he can get. Then the freshly made jalapeno and cilantro hummus is so addictive, I could eat a whole big bowl with a spoon in no time, like you would eat a bowl oatmeal. But it is expensive for a small container. Everything tastes so good. Salad is so fresh, the dressing is sooooo "homemade". You can taste the fresh herbs in the salad. I had chicken wings here, too, pretty good. They let me pick only the flats and fry to order for me. I eat here with a Local Flavor 50% off voucher that I buy when LF has 25% off sales and I usually order the same thing: One pound of gyros for $15, and $5 worth of the jalapeno and cilantro hummus. I have a class in the industrial area near Kalos Grill every Monday at 7 pm, so I come here to eat, before I go to class. James had to cut back on his hours because all the thousands of workers in this industrial area, now work from home. I saw James turn away people who arrived at 6:30 on Monday (I only come Mondays due to my class nearby). Before Covid, James said seven employees at the counter could not keep up with the business, and they worked sooo hard! Now it's like I am the only one there at 6 pm Monday nights. James is good to me, treats me like family! I don't have any family. So I hope you go eat here often, and support this business. Yum ! The gyros smells SOOOOO GOOD in the takeout box in my car!

I want to preface this 3 star review by saying that the food here is good! I really enjoyed my Philly Cheesesteak Pita and my girlfriend went for the Gyro Fries which were BOMB.COM (sauces also) Service was something to be questioned on the day I was in though. Masks were present, but workers did not wear gloves behind the counter and beyond into the kitchen (yikes). In addition to this we had to repeat our order 4 separate times (twice after paying), field inhospitable service staff, and ultimately missing a few extra sauces we asked for in the order. My advice, get an order delivered and make sure it's all there! Ultimately the food is worth a 4 star; so no need to deal with the 2 star service.

    $5 rice/meat bowl such a good value!!
    Say M.

Oh man really good, fresh food for the prices. What a value! I came by to try one of their happy hour rice bowls for only $5. I got the falafel bowl and it was fantastic, and a steal at the price paid. Quality healthy fresh made REAL food at that price is honestly super rare. Even crappy fast food is way more expensive than that these days. The falafel was crisp yet really moist and perfectly fried/cooked. Veggies tasted fresh and rice was really good. I asked for a good amount of tzatziki on top and they were generous with it! Owner was talking with other customers and you could tell he takes pride in his business and food and wants to share that with others. I will be making this one of my regular spots to hit up for lunch that's for sure!

From the moment we arrived, the restaurant had such great vibes. There was also a subtle, almost secretive animal theme throughout the space that added a really cool touch. The hostess and waitstaff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The drinks were good, but the food was definitely the star. The milk bread was absolutely delicious, and the pibil dumplings were also really good. My only complaint is that they only came with three pieces, which felt a little expensive for the portion. The beef tartare was another standout. It was delicious on its own and paired really well with the banana chip, which added a nice contrast in texture and flavor. I would probably skip the white oak grilled skewers, though. They were pretty burnt, and unfortunately, they didn't really stand out to me compared to the other dishes. The ribeye was cooked to absolute perfection. We asked if they could prepare the two halves of the ribeye at different temperatures since my wife prefers her steak closer to medium, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. They even comped our milk bread because it took a little longer than expected to come out, which was a really nice gesture. Overall, an excellent experience from start to finish. I will say they don't seem to skim on salad ingredients either - - the Philly salad was covered with shaved beef, and my berry salad had a lot of chicken and tons of blue cheese. The fries were delicious - - slightly seasoned and crispy. This place is clearly dog friendly. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Great bar food and a good selection of beers. What's not to love?

Cocktails were made well, I'd come back and try others. Our friends suggested The Hudson which worked for me, it's been sitting on my list for a while. Bar food was pretty good. Next time I'll try a burger since people like them a lot in reviews, and I love a good burger. This visit we had the carne asada cheesesteak with some onion rings and boneless wings. Both items were good. I think for me, 4 stars seems right since there's an element of having to order at the bar and then come back up if anything is needed. Making it feel somewhat self service but I'm sure we tipped like full service. And at first we were trying to figure out the menu, where to order, and apparently we had a learning curve that night. Brains were tired. We sat outside with the misters at night. That was totally fine. It wasn't one of the nasty hot days.

Like I said, I was here to do some work and studying, by 7:45 when I ordered my cocktail, the spot was close to 90% full. Seems like a fun and hype spots.. I would like to come back for the games. Spoke to another young lady Tamara with a question about the drink another table had an Calvin made sure my water stayed full. Great team!

They still have the…read more"scan this code to view the menu and order" system, which I'm guessing came from COVID ... the system is annoying and not easy to use, even for techie people. Modifications, re-ordering drinks, even just reading the menu, etc... just not easy. I'm with the boomers on this one - just give me paper! I suppose it is nice that I can get a drink without waiting for someone, but at the same time service is not great because people don't come to check on you unless you order through your phone. They still want an auto-gratuity if you're with more than 6 people, even though we all ordered separately. I understand that's pretty normal - but what service did they give us besides putting the food on the table? None! The food itself is pretty good, not fantastic but good enough for the kind of place it is. The games are fun and there is a good selection. The ordering system and lack of service just really brings it down, though - it kinda feels like better quality fast food at that point.

We arrived in time for sunset, and it did not disappoint. Watching the sunset over the Phoenix skyline made for a beautiful evening, and the restaurant itself has a unique atmosphere. We had a 7:30 reservation and were checked in right on time, we were seated outside, but there was very little shade, and unfortunately it was a hot, humid, and windy evening, so it wasn't the most comfortable dining experience. Our server, Sergio, was friendly, but we had to ask several times for water refills. One of the highlights before the meal was the complimentary bread service. The bread and butter were delicious, and the staff member who brought it out took the time to explain each item on the board which was a nice touch. The food was good. The 8 oz filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was the highlight of the meal, tender, flavorful, and worth ordering. We had enjoyed the desserts. The chocolate mousse was rich and creamy, and the Pavlova was light, fresh, and beautifully presented with berries. That said, the outdoor seating wasn't quite as relaxing as we expected. It was pretty windy the evening we visited, which made dining outside a little uncomfortable. The resort Pool is directly below the patio, and there happened to be a party going on, so there was quite a bit of noise. The restaurant also overlooks the freeway. Traffic wasn't heavy during our visit, but I imagine the road noise and air quality could be more noticeable during busier times. Overall, if you are looking for a scenic dinner with a memorable sunset, top of the rock is worth visiting. Just be prepared for the weather if you sit outside and know that the ambiance can depend on what's happening around the resort. The steak alone is reason enough to come back.

Hostesses and dining room staff were friendly and provided excellent service. Unfortunately, the kitchen had an off night. Free valet parking is available (tips appreciated) and they do have a handicap ramp, but it's a long walk and it wraps clear around the restaurant. We were told that there was an elevator from the downstairs event area, however the door was locked, so we ended up taking our time and my 93-yo mother-in-law walked up the multiple level of stairs. DRINKS: We tried the non-alcoholic Basil & Lemons ($12) and a Berry Limeade ($16.50). Both drinks looked great, were well made, and tasty. Nice cocktail menu and a decent wine list. Unfortunately, I didn't hear if they had a corkage fee or allowed you to bring in your own bottles. FOOD: Kenny waited on us and the service was excellent (5 stars). He started us out with some complementary bread, including cornbread and focaccia with two different types of butter. We chose to share the Oyster Rockefeller ($21), which comes with five pieces and then for our entrées, we had the Calabrian Shrimp Toasts ($19), the Seared Duck Breast ($46) with Shiitake mushrooms and a blackberry glaze, and the Black Truffle Scallops & Risotto ($51) with wild mushrooms. The oysters came out shortly after our cocktails, and they were delicious. The issue was that the kitchen must have forgotten my scallops, as we waited about 45 minutes (maybe more) for our entrées. When they finally arrived, my scallops were fresh off the grill and hot, but the shrimp toast and duck were barely warm. It seemed like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. My wife sent her duck back to be reheated, and unfortunately it didn't really make it that much warmer, and it cooked it a little past the medium rare temperature she requested. I will say that Kenny apologized for the long wait and comped us a dessert. We tried the French Opéra Cake ($16) which was amazing! The scallops & risotto were delicious, and the shrimp was good, but the duck dish was sorely lacking. Overall, we had an okay experience, and I hope it was just a fluke night for the kitchen. I would return and give them another try, as the service and most of our food and drinks were good. In better weather, I'd like to try the outdoor deck, as the views in the evening are spectacular!
