We found this place when visiting another favorite that had gone out of business. The owner greeted us when we came in and explained all the options. He gave us a sample of almost everything while we were waiting. The hummus was decent. The garlic sauce was the best I've ever had. The feta changed my life. It's not like any feta I've ever had. It was clearly fresh and authentic, with an amazing flavor. I had a rice bowl with steak, which was filet, and it was cooked perfectly. Lots of rice (maybe a bit much), cooked veggies, and other fresh toppings are available. My husband had the pork on his rice bowl. It was sweet and spiced. Such a great combo with the rice and sauce. The food was okay. Gyro was crazy dry and thick, definitely gross. Pita Bistro up the road is much better. This place was in shambles a day or two after their opening, very obviously they were still under construction with tarps and ladders in the kitchen. A lady was asking for ice and a guy behind the counter was just wandering aimlessly while she waited- IDK what that was about. Since I literally live within throwing distance of this place, I was bummed that it was just *ok.* Mediocre. Meh. I had given them a little bit of time before visiting since new places often have hiccups. First off, the setup is just weird. It's crowded and the configuration is totally illogical and everyone is in everyone else's way. Annoying, but I guess this is mostly about the food. I ordered a bowl with falafel. They informed me that I would have to wait because they make the falafel "fresh." Ok. My husband got a meat bowl, we paid, and then I waited. And waited. Finally, it was ready, and it was SUPER awkward to try to get the toppings and stuff because it basically seemed like I was having to cut back into line. Rushed, I picked a few things and got in and out as quickly as possible. The yellow rice was just ok, the vegetables were straight up out of a frozen bag of mixed vegetables, and the falafel was good (I'm not sure I've ever had a bad falafel. It was pretty much on par with every other falafel I've ever eaten). All in all I just found it to be an underwhelming and frustrating place to eat. Honestly, it's doubtful we'll be back even though we could literally walk there in two minutes. Yawn. I seriously don't understand the good reviews. Go down the street to Hummus Express. Had to talk my husband and daughter into eating Mediterranean instead of burgers. But even they were raving about how delicious this food was. The gyros had so much flavor my husband didn't even want to give up one bite for me to try. But he finally caved. I had a delicious falafel plate. The saffron rice and hummus were perfect. The only thing I would change is the over abundance of vinaigrette on the Greek salad. But the veggies were crisp and the feta almost like a whipped feta. It was on point. I can firmly state that it is rare, especially on a Friday nightz to have a five star experience anywhere. I was driving in Tempe waiting for my girlfriend to get off work, was originally looking for Flame Broiler, and happened to see a new Middle Eastern place called Kalos. As soon as I stepped inside I could smell fresh pita and rice. I quickly became acquainted with Peter, who guided me to an amazing gyro that I will be back with my girlfriend tomorrow AGAIN for. The pita was hot and fresh, the meat was tender and moist, and all of the ingredients are super fresh as well. And the tzatziki was AMAZING, easily better than Pita Bisto and Niros Gyros. The first time I had their food was when a coworker brought in bowls. I work at a gym, so I was happy to eat something that was healthy compared to most food in the area. Today I decided to go over and check it out myself and was immediately greeted by the owner who was very friendly and informative. What a gold mine! A hidden gem in between Jersey Mikes and Buffalo Spot. This place holds its own! I have something different each time i come in from gyros to tacos thats right tacos at a greek place and their bowls. They have filet mignon, grilled chicken, gyro, adobada. My mouth waters. I think this place is OK, both with respect to the food, service, and prices. I think the serving sizes are great for the "plates" but there are few things that could be improved. First, they use these very small takeout containers which are actually too small for the serving sizes they give. This makes for all the food running together. The rice I got was very wet and mushy, not dry and fluffy as it should be. I also did not especially care for the steamed gyros meat....I know they do that to keep it moist, but steaming changes the consistency and the taste somewhat. We also got the grilled chicken plate. I think they use chicken breast meat, which is nice, but the breast meat was not well trimmed. It had pieces of gristle and some bone chips in it. My wife hates this and would not eat her grilled chicken meal. Lastly, their fountain soda machine was out of 4 out of seven soda categories. Not many choices of what you could drink. Am I disgruntled? No, not really. I actually kinda like the place and food is OK. But just offering some observations and constructive criticism for improvement! read more

My mom and I came here right after we hiked, and this is our first time coming here! Super cute small place, the service was super fast. I ordered a gyro bowl and my mom ordered a chicken plate. The workers were very nice and gave us extra hummus without charge. We didn't have cash to tip and felt super bad but the worker didn't seem to mind, such a welcoming atmosphere. Coworkers, and myself, ordered a pickup order for lunch today. We ordered pita sandwiches and a rice bowl. Once it was brought back to the office the sandwich had nothing inside of them but the meat. The Falafel was rock hard and tasted like rocks. I would not recommend this place. Absolutely horrible. You should eat at Pita Bistro instead. The owner James and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the food they serve. We had cilantro jalapeno hummus, stuffed grape leaves, tabouleh salad, a gyro, and a filet mignon rice bowl.
