I needed to have quite a few test done before seeing the doctor as was a new patient. Everyone was very thorough and friendly .I had a lot of questions and they answered every one of them. I finally saw Dr.Rutzen he was so nice and friendly he took the time to explain all of my options and he also explained each one in detail and also the cost associated with each different option. I left the office feeling very comfortable with my decision to come here. I ended up having to go back in for an appointment with Dr. Franco she specializes with Glaucoma she was equally as nice and thorough. she explained everything and answered all of my many questions. I would definitely recommend Dr.Rutzen and team. feel very comfortable with my up coming eye surgery . I will come back and give an update after my surgery.

I've had consistently poor experiences at this office despite giving it multiple chances. While the…read morefacility itself is clean, modest, and conveniently located, the front desk staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. They regularly interrupt me while I'm speaking on the phone, use an outright disrespectful tone, and place me on hold for 10 minutes or more almost every time I call. Insurance and billing communication is a mess. No one at the front desk seems to understand insurance coverage or pricing, and I was given incorrect cost estimates for both a 6-month and 1-year supply of contacts. It took roughly seven phone calls just to get accurate information, which is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, my last two eye exams resulted in incorrect prescriptions. I continued to see blurry even while wearing the prescribed contacts, which meant unnecessary follow-up visits and wasted time. The doctors themselves are patient and pleasant, but the front desk staff and administrative disorganization overshadow any positive aspects of this practice. I truly hope administration seriously retrains their staff on professionalism, patience, and appropriate tone when speaking with patients, because as it stands, this experience is not one I would recommend.

Dr. Tran is one of the nicest and most able medical professional I have ever encountered. With an office located in the Arundle Mill Costco, each visit is a breeze from a logistical standpoint. Her assistant is wonderful as well and really makes setting up an appointment very easy. I am not sure if the office takes insurance for regular eye exams (standard glasses and/or contact lenses) but the price is reasonable at $100 for my son's contact lens exam. Dr. Tran uses some of the latest equipment to conduct the exam. It looks like some futuristic Jetson's type stuff but it is very effective. However, what sets her apart from other Optometrists is that she always pulls out the the tried and true tools of the profession to check everything out. We never feel rushed with her and she listens to all of our concerns. Just a wonderful experience ensuring my son's vision is correct. I am deathly scared of eye doctors and do not like my eyes being messed with. It's a losing battle for anyone to get drops in my eyes or even do the required test for glaucoma and other required checks but he seems to do it every time. He works with me, takes his time and explains everything before he does it so I know what to expect. Every other eye doctor I've been to has never been able to do many of the test that involves holding my eyes open but he gets it done. This is my third visit to Dr. Miller and I will not be going anywhere else.

Amblyopia (Lazy Eye) is genetically on both sides of the family. When I went to replace my progressive (distance) glasses with prism lenses (to correct double vision) and computer glasses without prism, they quoted a price of $6,200, including a charge of $4000 for the prism refraction with lenses made by Zeiss. The next day I discovered that COSCO Optical can provide similar frames and same lenses for only $330 (20 times cheaper) with lenses made by COSCO Optical Lab. I am not aware of any complaints by other customers about the quality of prism lenses made by COSCO. The prices at Medical Eye Center are way out of line.

The staff is amazing and very friendly and courteous. The only thing is if your appointment is on Tuesday that's usually the day that Dr Elman follows up with patients that had surgery so you may not want to make your appointment on those days if you are just coming in for a regular checkup because there could be just a tad bit of a wait.
