We had the opportunity to visit Kamado Ramen while in Huntsville for space camp in July 2026. We ordered Spicy Miso ramen, Shoyu ramen, gyoza, and karaage chicken at the counter and managed to get a table on a fairly busy Saturday night. Soft drinks and silverware are self serve, but multiple servers stopped by and made sure we had everything we needed. Decor is an elevated kidcore with Pokemon characters mixed in, with fun but chill vibes. Our food arrived quickly and was devoured quickly! Spicy Miso was flavorful and nourishing. Karaage chicken and gyoza complimented our ramen very well. Manager stopped by every table, including ours, to check on diners and made sure everyone was satisfied. And we sure were very satisfied! This was my first time trying Ramen, so I had no expectations coming into this. When you walk in, you order and pay up front and then can choose a seat where they'll bring it out to you. And it was fairly quick. The service was fantastic. Even though we didn't have a server, there was someone who kept checking in and making sure everything was good and that we were enjoying our meal. There's bar seating, tables, boots, and even some options outdoors (but under a tent so AC controlled). The place is pretty cute and could be a casual date night spot. I tried what I think is their most popular option, the Tonkotsu Ramen. It's made with broth, pork, noodles, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, fish cake, scallions, and an egg. I wasn't sure how hot the spicy ramen was, so I got the spicy paste on the side to be able to mix in my desired level of heat. By itself, the broth was decent. It had a slight flavor that reminded me of miso soup. Adding in some spicy paste definitely gave it more flavor and it was more enjoyable. The pork was TO DIE FOR. So tender and juicy and melt-in-your-mouth. I would come back just for that pork. The egg also, was cooked so perfectly. The bamboo shoots and mushrooms added a variation of texture to the soup. Brussel Sprouts - 7.5/10 a little soggy because of the sauce but good nevertheless. Bang Bang Shrimp - 3/10 I really could've made better at home. No flavor, just really tasted like they just popped it in flour and grease. Sauce didn't have as much flavor as other places I know that sell it. This is nice spot to get a quick bowl of ramen. You order at the counter as soon as you walk into the restaurant and they give you a number to take to your table. They have a lot of variety on the menu from the appetizers, ramen, and specialty boba drinks. They also offer combo options. I had the spicy tonkatsu ramen with gyoza. The ramen flavor wasn't great but the portions of pork were big. I expected more of a pork flavored broth, but I'd admit that I've never tried spicy tonkatsu. They have a nicely stocked bar in the center of restaurant with seating. They have a decent seating, but not convenient for large crowds if the 2 large tables are taken. We all decided to get our ramen on as part of our pre Christmas tradition - daughter came in from out of town but had to go back home early, so our Christmas Eve tradition was moved up by a couple of days. There are two Kamado locations in H'ville and we tried the other one so we thought we'd give this one a go because we had a group of 7 and needed the seating space. Ordering wad easy and exactly the same - order at the counter in the entryway, pay, then grab a seat and food is brought out to you. Being that this place was in MidCity it has that upscale vibe, but it stays honest with a Tokyo side alley Ramen shop feel. Orange-Jasmin iced tea is always a hit and, by and large, the ramen was good, but the ramen egg in all of them was cold - bummer. And my girls all love miso ramen, but Kamodo puts corn in theirs and that kind of spoils it for them. This is a northern Japan thing that I first experienced in Hokkaido and I have to admit we don't like it. Thankfully, in Hokkaido it's restricted more touristy ramen shops. Buy now that we know, we will just tell them to leave it off. The rest of it is just great, even our picky eater got what they wanted with a make your own noodle bowl (pick your broth, pick your noodle, enjoy)! The great thing about the mid city location is that it is right next to our favourite boba cafe. That's what we call a twofer! read more

My go to is the BANG BANG SHRIMP, the Gyoza, the Pork Bun, and the number 11 Ramen (so I can build my ramen bowl how I like :) ). Only request I ask and have suggested multiple times is for them to PLEASE PLEASE I BEG YOU move the Soda cup TOPS from the public area where the water cups are. I've come in MANY times and have seen people grabbing soda in a water cup and trying to put the soda top on the water cup. After they see it doesn't fit. They take that same top and put it back in place with the stacked tops. It's quite disgusting and I've alerted management but perhaps it's not a priority because I continue to see it more often than not. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!! read more

Super excited to go inside the restaurant on a cold night out! I love the open floor plan and seating arrangements. Several beverages to choose from (sake, cocktails, teas). They had two big screens playing One Piece which was cool and I loved the figurines they decorated with. I gave 4 stars because of the girl at the front taking our order - rude and wouldn't even let me take 10 seconds to order. At least we didn't have to deal with her after that. The ordering system here is is different from most restaurants. You're asked to order items prior to sitting down. After you order, you can sit wherever you want with a number. I can imagine when it gets busy that it may take a while for people to order food (while waiting in line). Fortunately, once I placed my order of Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen (no fish cake), I received it within 5 minutes. The broth was definitely spicy. For some reason, I kept tasting something fishy which makes me think that the broth has some sort of fish sauce. The wheat noodles were slightly chewy, and I would have preferred it to be a little more cooked. The quantity of noodles was perfect though. The chashu was quite nice, and definitely was a melt in mouth experience. It was slightly sweet as well. I usually have my egg at the end, and it added a nice sweetness at the end of a spicy meal. I'd say for the amount of money I spent here I expected to be full and I am. They had a station near the drinks for water and infused water, and I grabbed a glass of the latter. I couldn't really tell if it tasted differently though it did smell differently. I recently visited Kamado Ramen (Mid City location) for the first time, excited to try something new. My companion and I ordered the Spicy Mrs. Ramen. After paying and sitting down with our food, we realized pretty quickly that we didn't like the taste--not because it was poorly made, just that it didn't suit our palate. Since we had just taken a few bites, we thought it was reasonable to let the staff know and ask about possible options (refund, exchange, or at least some understanding). We approached the front counter and politely explained that we didn't like the taste and asked what we should do. The staff member directed us to the manager, who was seated at the bar. When we explained the situation to him, his response was dismissive. He said, "That's not how it works here," and didn't offer any solution, apology, or even basic customer empathy. We were left feeling awkward and unwelcome. We asked if we could just leave the food and go, and he said yes--end of conversation. Later, we tried to follow up. We accidentally called the Stonehouse location first, and the manager there was incredibly kind--even though it wasn't his store. He apologized for our experience, empathized with us, and said he'd be more than happy to help if the situation had happened under his watch. He also gave us the number to the Mid City location. When we called Mid City, it was immediately clear that customer service wasn't a priority there. The tone was indifferent. When we asked who the store manager was, the staff said, "His name is Mark," but wouldn't provide a last name or ask if we had a concern or wanted to speak to him. The whole attitude was unprofessional and cold--completely different from the Stonehouse location. Bottom line: the food didn't work for us, but it was the poor customer service that really stood out. No one expects every dish to be a hit with every customer, but there's a big difference between not liking a meal and being treated like your experience doesn't matter. I can't believe this place has been open a year already! Time flies! This is my favorite ramen joint in Huntsville. It's also connected to Kung fu tea. Owned by the same people. They recently changed a few things. You now have to order at the front and they will bring the food to you when it's ready. They couldn't keep enough staff on hand to do full table service. Things seemed to work smoothly. My ramen was beautifully presented as usually and tasted amazing. My new favorite is the shoyu + spice. read more

Kamado has some of the best ramen in Huntsville. I usually choose the Kimchi Ramen. Their kimchi is fresh and very spicy, just perfect. Some of the other variants of ramen fall behind other spots in town though. The chicken katsu is excellent here as well. I have previously found the Tonkotsu a little flat with only moderate flavor. I've died and gone to Raman heaven! This place is amazing . Legit authentic Raman recipes . I got the spices tonkatsu & my BF got the spicy misu, both great spicy options. We also got the fried calamari, which was perfectly seasoned and fried. What really blew me away was the attention to detail that the owner (Jim) put into this place. The decor and logo is a deconstructed Raman painting made by the owners girlfriend. The carry out dishes have have a Naruto character , the to go bowls come with an adorable carrying bag (very creative), and the bowls have a message at the bottom. This place used to be one of my favorite restaurants in town but the food quality has degraded so much over time that I visit less and less. My most recent visit was the last straw, and I will not be coming back again. My boyfriend and I ordered the takoyaki and 2 different ramens, as well as 2 sake bombs. First of all, the food was terrible. The takoyaki tasted like ketchup and the ramens were both incredibly bland. But the real problem was the way my boyfriend was treated by one of the food runners after he expressed surprise at the serving size of the sake bombs. The food runner must have taken his comment about the drinks personally, because she proceeded to make several derogatory remarks towards him, including one remark in an offensive racist accent about how she doesn't speak English (he is Latino). She came back to the table on multiple occasions to keep saying negative remarks to him, including comments she made to me while he was away from the table talking to the manager about our disappointment with the meal. She asked me about his ethnicity, which doesn't seem relevant to her job at all, and then continued to denigrate him. After all of that, the meal made me sick when I got home. This is not the first time Kamado has made me sick. In fact, I swore that I would never go back to the Stovehouse location after they ruined our New Year's Eve celebrations with food poisoning. I'm very disappointed to have to make the same decision about the Mid City location. This place used to be great but I won't be giving them my business anymore. read more

Stopped in since my niece wanted Ramen while in Huntsville. She said the ramen was spectacular. The noodles and packaging were very nice. She liked how the ramen was separated from the broth and thought it was very clever. The container said you needed to microwave the broth and thankfully our hotel had a microwave in the lobby.
