(R1) Tonkotsu Ramen with a side of Spicy Paste
    Mikayla K.

This was my first time trying Ramen, so I had no expectations coming into this. When you walk in, you order and pay up front and then can choose a seat where they'll bring it out to you. And it was fairly quick. The service was fantastic. Even though we didn't have a server, there was someone who kept checking in and making sure everything was good and that we were enjoying our meal. There's bar seating, tables, boots, and even some options outdoors (but under a tent so AC controlled). The place is pretty cute and could be a casual date night spot. I tried what I think is their most popular option, the Tonkotsu Ramen. It's made with broth, pork, noodles, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, fish cake, scallions, and an egg. I wasn't sure how hot the spicy ramen was, so I got the spicy paste on the side to be able to mix in my desired level of heat. By itself, the broth was decent. It had a slight flavor that reminded me of miso soup. Adding in some spicy paste definitely gave it more flavor and it was more enjoyable. The pork was TO DIE FOR. So tender and juicy and melt-in-your-mouth. I would come back just for that pork. The egg also, was cooked so perfectly. The bamboo shoots and mushrooms added a variation of texture to the soup. I'd like to come back and try the different broth options because the slight miso-y taste wasn't my favorite. They had a ton of different boba drink options too!

Great ramen spot! We had to Spicy Miso and Shoyu Ramen. Both were extremely flavorful. The staff was very kind and our food came quickly but fresh. The restaurant has a cool vibe, could use a bit more indoor seating but thats a very small pickle. We will be returning.

My favorite dish. Just can't remember the name

The best ramen in north Alabama!!!! Highly recommend. Staff was helpful in making recommendations for entrees. Food was absolutely delicious. Enjoy watching anime on the television screens as well while sitting in the back room. Highly recommend.

Loved the food here so much! What a great find in Huntsville, AL. Truly we enjoyed all the food: 3 Kara - Age, 1 Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Assorted ramen. My favorite item was the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, a great crunch. We were greeted by friendly people, and enjoyed seeing anime on the screens. Would definitely return the next time I am in town.

I've been to the other location several times and this one at Mid City is just as amazing. The curry ramen was very flavorful and the katsu bun was great as well. They also had good music playing while I was there.

Well.. I was pretty underwhelmed trying this place. Ambience was cool for a Tuesday evening after 4pm, service was good and they checked on us often. Brussel Sprouts - 7.5/10 a little soggy because of the sauce but good nevertheless. Bang Bang Shrimp - 3/10 I really could've made better at home. No flavor, just really tasted like they just popped it in flour and grease. Sauce didn't have as much flavor as other places I know that sell it. Ramen - 6.5/10 Not much flavor to me besides the spice.. first time trying ramen and wasn't really wowed. Gyoza - 8.5/10 probably the best dish I tried there. Flavor, sear, all of it! Really good. Not sure if I'd go back and try more but I can say I went.

When you walk into this place, the vibes are very cool! You have to order your food first then find a seat. They have plenty of seating for individual folks and parties. Service was attentive and the food was yummy!

We all decided to get our ramen on as part of our pre Christmas tradition - daughter came in from out of town but had to go back home early, so our Christmas Eve tradition was moved up by a couple of days. There are two Kamado locations in H'ville and we tried the other one so we thought we'd give this one a go because we had a group of 7 and needed the seating space. Ordering wad easy and exactly the same - order at the counter in the entryway, pay, then grab a seat and food is brought out to you. Being that this place was in MidCity it has that upscale vibe, but it stays honest with a Tokyo side alley Ramen shop feel. Orange-Jasmin iced tea is always a hit and, by and large, the ramen was good, but the ramen egg in all of them was cold - bummer. And my girls all love miso ramen, but Kamodo puts corn in theirs and that kind of spoils it for them. This is a northern Japan thing that I first experienced in Hokkaido and I have to admit we don't like it. Thankfully, in Hokkaido it's restricted more touristy ramen shops. Buy now that we know, we will just tell them to leave it off. The rest of it is just great, even our picky eater got what they wanted with a make your own noodle bowl (pick your broth, pick your noodle, enjoy)! The great thing about the mid city location is that it is right next to our favourite boba cafe. That's what we call a twofer!

I love love love this place!! I used to go to the Stovehouse location but this is my preferred location. The atmosphere is a bit more welcoming and the cleanliness is impressive! My go to is the BANG BANG SHRIMP, the Gyoza, the Pork Bun, and the number 11 Ramen (so I can build my ramen bowl how I like :) ). Only request I ask and have suggested multiple times is for them to PLEASE PLEASE I BEG YOU move the Soda cup TOPS from the public area where the water cups are. I've come in MANY times and have seen people grabbing soda in a water cup and trying to put the soda top on the water cup. After they see it doesn't fit. They take that same top and put it back in place with the stacked tops. It's quite disgusting and I've alerted management but perhaps it's not a priority because I continue to see it more often than not. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!

Super excited to go inside the restaurant on a cold night out! I love the open floor plan and seating arrangements. Several beverages to choose from (sake, cocktails, teas). They had two big screens playing One Piece which was cool and I loved the figurines they decorated with. I gave 4 stars because of the girl at the front taking our order - rude and wouldn't even let me take 10 seconds to order. At least we didn't have to deal with her after that. Everyone else super friendly & attentive. I ordered the Miso Ramen & my husband ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen. Didn't have to wait long and a warm treat on this cold night - I have plenty to take home! We order this out all the time so it was nice to go in the store front. We will be back

The ordering system here is is different from most restaurants. You're asked to order items prior to sitting down. After you order, you can sit wherever you want with a number. I can imagine when it gets busy that it may take a while for people to order food (while waiting in line). Fortunately, once I placed my order of Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen (no fish cake), I received it within 5 minutes. The broth was definitely spicy. For some reason, I kept tasting something fishy which makes me think that the broth has some sort of fish sauce. The wheat noodles were slightly chewy, and I would have preferred it to be a little more cooked. The quantity of noodles was perfect though. The chashu was quite nice, and definitely was a melt in mouth experience. It was slightly sweet as well. I usually have my egg at the end, and it added a nice sweetness at the end of a spicy meal. I'd say for the amount of money I spent here I expected to be full and I am. They had a station near the drinks for water and infused water, and I grabbed a glass of the latter. I couldn't really tell if it tasted differently though it did smell differently. I thought it was interesting that they reward dine-in customers with a chance of winning a free dinner (ramen).

Nestled in historic Madison, V&O offers some of the most unique wines and whiskey/bourbon offerings in the region. There's a typical bar area with TVs showing sports, but surrounding the bar are plush, lounge chairs and couches that feel more intimate and inviting for groups. Selection of libations is a great start, but without passionate and knowledgeable 'tenders the experience feels... incomplete. V&O doesn't disappoint here either as everyone is well-versed and opinionated in what they are serving. It's the perfect place to let a few hours bleed away and forget what is going on in the world; maybe have an intelligent sparring session about tastes in the 'brown drink' or adult grape juice... You can spend an entire night here or end up here at the end of the night for a night cap... I don't think you can wrong either way. It's becoming one of my favorite places for wine and whiskey/bourbon... but tread carefully; there are so many things to try you may find it hard to walk out to a ride home. However, you won't regret the time spent within the walls of this gem... I can't promise the same for the next day

There are televisions playing softly in the room with the bar but there's also a more intimate room; I think it'd be a nice place to gather with friends. I was told there'd be wine tasting nights starting soon! The bartender, Teylor, was exceptional! She put me right at ease, spoke knowledgeably about each cocktail and wine option, and had a good sense of humor. She worked efficiently among the patrons and was very attentive and polite. Shout-out to Teylor! The vibe was really great too - the other guests were friendly and sociable without being overbearing and I enjoyed my visit while having a drink. I ordered the Monte Sano Sunset, which is a rum drink with fruity elements to include orange and pineapple juice as well as a squeeze of lime. It wasn't overly sweet and didn't upset my stomach as similar drinks often do. It was a pleasure to watch Teylor make my beautiful drink as well as what others ordered; there was even fire involved with one particular beverage! I enjoyed my drink and heard rave things from the other guests about each and every drink that was served. Although this bar is rather far away for me, I look forward to bringing friends from out of town to this special new place.

The restaurant sits just a stone's throw from the ballpark where the Rocket City Trash Pandas play, so the whole place already has a fun, lively atmosphere before you even sit down. Now given the name "Prohibition," I half expected someone to knock on the door and ask for a secret password like it was 1927. Back in those days, enjoying a drink required secrecy, dim lights, and maybe a jazz band playing in the corner. Today, things are a little easier... though for this non-drinker, my order was simple: water on the rocks, hold the lemon. I prefer my water about 100 proof for maximum flavor. My boss and coworker grabbed seats at the bar while we looked over the menu. We kicked things off with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends and the Pork Bao Buns. Let me tell you, those Pork Belly Burnt Ends were an absolute masterpiece. They came out crisp and seasoned just right with a little spicy kick. Served with raw carrots, homemade pickles, and lettuce wraps to bundle those little jewels together--downright tasty. If food had a Hall of Fame, these would already have a plaque on the wall. The Pork Bao Buns were good as well, but they simply couldn't match the grand slam the Pork Belly Burnt Ends delivered. For my main course, I ordered the Smoked Wangs with the Jala Mango seasoning and a side salad. The wings were delicious--cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was solid. No bootlegging required. Prohibition definitely hit it out of the park today. Between the great food, the great service, and the fun atmosphere near the ballpark, this place is a must-stop for locals or anyone just passing through Madison. Our waitress tried pretty hard to convince us to order dessert, so I'm guessing their sweets are just as flavorful as everything else on the menu. The only problem I had today? I couldn't finish my meal. I was absolutely stuffed. If this had been the 1920s, the only crime committed here would've been leaving food on the plate. Great food. Great service. I'll gladly return--though next time I may need a little more room in the stomach.
