To start off the check in process was seamless amazing customer service. We got settled into our condo which was immaculate and cozy had everything we could have possibly needed especially traveling with children. The property was also immaculate and stunning greenery. Do Not Reccomend this place ! No help getting bags to room. Pool way too small for the amount of units and guests . Kids can not use floats in the pool. Can NOT eat food at the pool. We had a pizza delivered to us while we sat around the pool side, planning to take it to our room to eat and the old grumpy pool man called security on me and my 4,5 & 7 year old grandchildren. Parking stalls are plentiful but our space was a long walk to our units elevator. Security man was very nice though. He asked us as we hung our heads low exiting the pool, if we were the folks the pool man was calling about. We said yes and he went to he pool man and spoke to him. This was a nice place to stay. I will stay here every time I come to Maui. Location... This hotel is located in Kihei and was not far from everywhere we wanted to go. It seemed as if we picked the best part of the island to stay. It was only a 30 minute drive down a highway from the airport in Kahului. Cleanliness... The room was clean and room service comes on the 5th day you stay. You can pay extra for them to clean other days. I stayed in a 1br/2ba condo with a pull out couch. Pool... The pool was clean and there were multiple hot tubs. On Wednesdays the hotel hosts a free Mai Tai Party at the pool with a Hawaiian singer and a Hula dancer. I really enjoyed this performance and I have been living in Hawaii for some time and have seen many different Hawaiian performers. Kitchen... My unit had a fully equipped kitchen which included pots, pans, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, coffee mugs, dishwasher, full fridge, coffee machine, microwave, toaster, and oven with range. We saved a bunch on food by going to Foodland (the hotel gives a coupon for 10% off a $50 purchase and gives you a reward card for Foodland). We cooked almost every meal in our room and the kitchen was more than adequate. As another review stated about plates being chipped. My room did have a chipped/cracked plate but it was still usable and wasn't that big of deal to me since there were a lot of plates to use. Air Conditioning... Most of the rooms do not have central air. I understand visitors from the mainland would find this a down side but I know that is how Hawaii is. I have lived on Oahu for years and I even had a house that had no central air. That is just the way of life on the island... bruddah. This was not a problem for me as the room has many fans and windows to open with a window A/C unit. Parking... Parking is assigned and gated so there are no worries about your vehicle being broken into. I did have an issue one day where someone parked in my space (it looked like a local visiting someone). The front desk quickly gave us another spot to park so it was no big deal. Nearest Beach... There is a beach across the street that is pretty nice. This was less then a 5 minute walk from my room. We went here multiple times to swim (the water is mostly calm) and to watch the sunset (one of the best I've seen here on the islands). The beach was never crowded when we visited, unlike some of the other beaches in Hawaii. All in all I would stay here again and I recommend it to anyone. The rooms are privately owned so the furniture and upkeep vary (as some reviews have mentioned) but I feel the hotel does a good job to fix what needs to be fixed. read more

The staff was friendly but this place surprises you with hidden cleaning fees during check in that are not disclosed when booking with third parties. The room we stayed in was dated. It had timers on the wall air conditioners so you could only cool the unit for a few hours at a time. As a result we returned to a hot unit after our daytime activities and we woke up in the middle of the night from the heat. It seems it would be more reasonable to put a limit on the thermostat (such as you cannot set below 72 degrees) then to have a hard shut off after a few hours. Low-flow shower heads make showering a longer task than it needs to be. While I appreciate being environmentally friendly the cost of the stay did not justify the frugal set up and when you're on vacation you really don't want to feel like you have to keep the utility bills as low as possible. That's what the reality should be after you return home. Internet was extremely slow and didn't reach certain parts of the condo. Again, not a huge deal but things to consider when choosing accommodations for a vacation. On a positive note the washer/dryer in the unit was very appreciated and handy. The pool and jacuzzi hot tub on the property were both the perfect temperature and a great amenity (increasing my score from a 1 star to a 2 star). Unfortunately the secret cleaning fee, that the Manager refused to waive even after seeing our Agoda confirmation paperwork mentioned nothing about this fee, made the cost of this stay a bad deal, even for Hawaii. read more

I would not recommend this property. We stayed from may 10-18 and found 4 bed bugs in our condo bedroom. The company who we rented through had a worker come out and spray some raid and took the bed bugs to pest control. They did not offer us to move condos or offer to comp our stay/reimburse any money. They did not check in after to see if the issue was resolved. we spent the rest of the stay camped out in the living room. Praying that I did not end up bringing any bed bugs back home with me! We were told the bugs were beetles and the bites we had all over our arms were from sand fleas and that bed bugs were not possible given that the mattress had a bed bug cover on it. Stayed in 9101 and let me tell you it is pure FILTH in the room. The sheets had dirty oil stains and what appeared to be red blood. The room itself had a bad odor and the carpet was too disgusting to walk barefoot on. The online pictures look NOTHING like what the room actually looked like. Initially we thought the staff was just having a rough day but boy was I wrong! The staff was very rude and dismissive it literally felt like we were not wanted in Kihei at all. From the day we checked in to the day we checked out that was how we got treated - very poorly. We checked out 2 days prior because we could not stand being there any longer. Location is great, we stayed in 8103 and it was very worn. Needed a new paint color on the interior it seemed like very bad choice for a condo unit, depressing. The lanai was riddled with ants, The screen between our units with made of wood and had rotten bug holes all over it and just dirty... on the plus side, our air conditioning went out, toilet handle broke, fridge handle broke, and when we called they came within a few hours and fixed. They also warned us that there was some construction going on, however, that did not prepare for the jackhammering all day long. read more

Got great deal through bookit.com Plenty of space and everything you need in your condo to cook (food in Maui is stupid expensive. there is a grocery store down the street that was really pretty decent for grocery prices and souvenirs - can't remember the name of it right now sorry!) Furnishings are a bit cheesy... bamboo and 80s hawaiian floral art deco something..was the same in several units (they let us look at a couple to try to get closer to another party we were vacationing with) Kind of irritated tho you pay an extra $80 cleaning fee but.. my place was dirty when I got there (hair in the showers, used ear plugs by the night stand) so they sent someone to clean. But still the hair hadn't moved out of the showers.. the ear plugs were gone, but I found live and dead roaches on this second check through. asked them to send someone again. Saw some traps thrown down and dead roaches gone..still hair in the showers. Fine. I will clean up some strangers hair myself even though I paid for cleaning. gross and proof the universe conspires against me yet again. On the upside the pool was really great and the beach is across the street. Some middle aged biddies were chilling in the shallow end while the kids were playing and were getting irritated cos there was some light splashing (from active swimming) no staff intervened to help the situation. I suppose if I punched some old lady for yelling at my kid for no reason they would have stepped in then, but it really almost got to that point and I couldn't believe it. So at any rate adequate staying quarters, nice pool, but felt like there was no support staff on site. I'd recommend to friends for the value, but not the quality overall. Assigned parking with unit. Washer/Dryer, Stove/Oven, Microwave, Fridge, Toaster.. lots of the units have extras like blenders. Some have nicer tvs. DO pay attention to whether the unit has ac or not. Stayed in unit 3-202. I would not rent 3-202 again. One of the big issues that we had is that they advertised the unit as having AC. This is not the case - to use AC, you need to reset every 2 hours. This is simply unacceptable. We have a 4 year old, and he was hot. We did not sleep well one single night. And this is in winter. I cannot imagine summer. The dishwasher stunk like fish. It was a strong smell that made us sick to our stomachs. When we mentioned it, we were basically told that we were lying. Yes, it was addressed, but the smell was overwhelming, and I don't like being called a liar by 2 people. Second, the whole thing is very confusing. One on hand, we were told that an owner owned the unit, and that was why you couldn't find the safe key. We were also told that the AC was controlled by the owner and that each owner has their own approach. Later, we were told that the unit was owned by the company. Which is it? Booked with expedia and stayed in building 9, unit 108. The location is central, not too far from airport or wailea and with good restaurants close by. Beach is across the stress. The room: it is a one bedroom condo about 30 years old, extremely loud AC with a stingy 60 minute auto shutoff that you can't turn off. This means if you want the AC on at night when it is hot you will need to get up every hour. The ceiling fan is super creepy and the bathroom fan sounds like a lawn mower going off. read more

I give the Castle Kamaole Sands 2 stars, as a lovely beach is very close by, the location overall is great for excursions out of Lahaina, and the little town of Kihei is great, with wonderful food and neat little shops. I also give this rental 2 stars for the following reasons: the place is shabby (at least our particular unit is - Building 10 unit 112.) You are able to choose based on photos when you book, and I chose a floor level spot, and the pics looked like it was a nice place. Not so much. The unit set up oddly - you enter the front door, and are faces with a Long hall. Immediately to your left is the bedroom, (which has a slat window that is unable to close completely since the weather is so nice typically) BUT, through which you are able to hear EVERY PERSON coming through. We are early to bed (10:00) and early to rise (5:30) being east coast folks and 5 hours ahead, so I was woken up st least 4-5 times every night by unsuspecting people. I do not blame this on them, they were not being overly loud, but I blame it on the layout. Last place we stayed in Lahaina had the bedroom right next to the main living space and it made MUCH more sense. As a result, I've slept horribly on this vacation :( Additionally- I suspect that some of the people here are condo owners, and are not particularly thrilled with tourists. They are not very polite. Another clue is that while we are sitting on a cracked poured concrete tiny patio in cheap awful patio furniture, the units on either side are tiled, spacious, and have beautiful furnishings. I've attached photos of the ragged carpet, the bathroom sink level that falls off, and one of the patio chairs. I could not attach a photo of me running out of hot water in the shower last night after being in there a grand total of 2 minutes. Ridiculous!! One last note - when you are paying upwards of $3K for a week here, you might expect some basic housekeeping to come through occasionally?? Oh no, my dear. Be prepared to pay $40 for a housekeeping visit. Or at least $20, which I did mid-week, for them to come replace our towels, dish towels, and take the trash. They won't even change your bed sheets!! Overall, it is doable, but not what I would recommend for a nice stay in Hawaii. We're finding somewhere else for our next visit. read more

Kamaaina Rates are pretty darn good. $166/nt for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom. At first we were given Building 9 Apartment 205. It only had air conditioning in the master bedroom and living room. The second bedroom had a ceiling fan that made the room cool, but you had to keep the bedroom door open. We weren't really happy with this condo, but luckily the hallway bathroom air vent started leaking fluid. We aren't sure where it was coming from or what the fluid was, so they moved us. Ask for the 4th floor loft condos. We were moved to Building 9 Apartment 411. It was great! Super expansive. Lots of plates, glasses, utensils and seating. read more

I don't know where to start.. I stayed here for 4 nights paying 400$ a night for a two bedroom roach infested condo. The security constantly harrassed me for room information every time I left my room despite seeing me multiple times! Constant maid/maintenance coming in your unit without knocking or acknowledgement! Shady! My last day I was harassed for a payment TWICE that was already made! Non welcoming and uncomfortable! Our room was great! We had a full kitchen, two bathrooms and a large bedroom. The showers were awesome and the bathrooms were spacious with tons of counter space! The bed was super comfortable and had a flat screen tv right across from it. We really couldn't have asked for anything more out of our room. Our unit had air conditioning throughout, so that was another huge bonus. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, the staff friendly, and pools awesome! They had a family hot tub as well as 18+ hot tub which was nice. The pool area also had the activity center booth where you could inquire about any activity you may be interested in doing they book it on the spot for you! This is the worst place to spend your vacation and a very poor hospitality. I booked one of the room in kamaole sands for 5 nights with my wife and 2 kids..I landed on 5th at 12am got to hotel at 1 pm ..Front desk people were very cold didn't even greet me and when i asked for check in told me that my room is not ready until 330pm even though I told them before in hand that I will be there by 1pm..But the worst is still to come..On Dec 9 I got stuck in the restroom as the lock did not want to open for me..My wife and kids were outside ..she called them right away and they said somebody will be there in few minutes ..my cell phone was outside but luckily my wife was able to slide that underneath the door..I waited for 20 minutes, nobody came in.I called them from inside to send somebody in right away because I am claustrophobic instead of being sorry and being worried the lady Kim? Started yelling at me and started asking me the type of lock on the door and said I am not helpful then she hang up on me.After 40 minutes one person came in and checked on the door lock and said it needs lock Smith to open it and he will be here in next 15 minutes..I waited 20 minutes , nobody showed up, i called front desk people they did not answer my call neither they called me back and asked how I was doing.After waiting for another 30 min I called hotels.com and told them about the situation these people are in Barcelona so they couldn't do anything except saying sorry to me.Finally I had to call 911and to my surprise they even told me to wait for lock smith..I was getting very impatient and called fire department and gave them permission to break the door..Fire fighter people came in and opened the door for me ..It took them only 2-3 minutes to open the door..I am very shocked about the service they are providing here , they don't care about anything..I am attaching some of the pictures..Please see the lock..it looks like 20 year old lock read more

We loved our stay here! The room was very clean and stocked with spices, essential kitchen utensils, and beach needs. Couldn't have asked for anything nicer. A washer and dryer with soap was so useful. The beach across the street was perfect for snorkeling and relaxing. I will definitely stay here again my next maui trip. read more

I booked this as part of a package with Hawaiian Airlines and yes, I was on a budget. When you book this way you are not given an option of room choice other than price. This wasn't concerning to me since I wasn't planning on staying in the room much other than to sleep. The price was one of the most reasonable I researched which is what I based my choice on. The location is great- right across the street from a public beach, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. You are close to town, and we were able to walk to dinner every night, with enough variety to keep us happy in our 6 day stay. The rooms appear to be "hit or miss" based on the other photos supplied by other guests. Ours were fairly Spartan with many repairs needed. Nothing we weren't able to overcome and you get what you pay for, yes? This is a family-friendly place and there are lots of families here. Many of the owners know each other and they are friendly to guests, although there is a clear sense of being an outsider. We came during the New Year so that may have been attenuated since there were many owners here at that time. When we arrived we were told that the owner of our rental wanted the unit the next day, so we were being "forced out" and reassigned another room. They handed us a letter to that effect and we planned our day around that - which meant packing up to be out of the room by 11:00. When we went to check out we were informed that we couldn't move for another day and the office receptionist acted like I had misunderstood her (even though she was the one who checked us in the afternoon before!). I showed her the letter that clearly stated we would be moving after one night, and she repeated that we'd have to wait until the next day to move. So, we moved everything back to the room and repeated it all the next day. Very disruptive to a vacation if you were planning on spending the day out - which we were. To make matters worse, the staff made you feel that since you weren't an owner, you weren't worth their time or respect. It felt like being third class on the Titanic. I apologize for not being wealthy but I am working for a living. When we moved to the new unit, the new receptionist didn't know anything about it and we were required to show the letter (which fortunately my husband had the foresight to have the previous receptionist sign), and he asked us how we were planning to pay for this! (It was pre-paid when I booked!) You do get charged additional hidden fees. We still haven't figured them out, but they were a little over $200. I don't mind this since the overall cost was very reasonable, but I do prefer to know why and where my money is going. Overall, I probably would not stay here again based upon treatment by staff. read more

The plastic laminate was chipped and could cut you when opening the cabinet.The air conditioner was in the living room only an old roll around unit and if you got the TV on then you had to crank the volume up as it sounded like a old 727 . The sink in the bedroom bathroom over flowed as it was plugged causing an issue,the lamps in both bathrooms were old school and heated the bathroom to an uncomfortable temp. If you are into the 70's motive then this place is for you , otherwise avoid it for $303 a night it is a travesty and am sorry that VRBO booked me through Expedia without my knowledge So BEWARE of VRBO handing over your booking to Expedia as I was told that Expedia bought VRBO but haven't verified that . Loved the fact that this condo was right across the street from our favorite beach. We had a great view of the sunsets as well. We had the two bedroom unit, second bedroom on the loft. It was extremely HOT and the one little airconditioner couldn't travel the air all the up to cool the room down. The bathrooms were out dated and shower fixtures were difficult to turn on. As for the kitchen supplies - very limited in cooking and utensils, who doesn't have a spatula in their kitchen? As for parking - they had fixed parking sites and only one per unit. Beware - they administer parking violations. All gates have codes- make sure you know them before heading to the pool or beach to get back in because not all units are on a electronic key card, thus you having a $100 key deposit for those that still have hard key copies. read more

STAY AWAY FROM 403-3!! The only thing this condo has going for it is that it's in Maui and hear the beach! First look, you might think, eh.. it's ok, it's big, it's island decor.. Then you spend a day or two there and notice 1- it's has not been properly cleaned or dusted in a very long time; the lights are full of dust (as in dust bunnies not just a thin layer), and at the base of the beds ugh 2- the sliding shower door doesn't have any knobs so you can't open it, the tub is gross anyway and missing a drain cover. And I like good water pressure, but this shower is like a firehose 3- the glass on the closet door in one of the bedrooms is broken and taped back to hold in the glass! And, to add to the safety issue for the kids room, it was off the rails and nearly fell off! 4- there were 2 shards of glass on the carpet 5- the bowls and mugs in the kitchen were cracked and chipped 6- patio furniture was rusted, cushions were stained 7- clearly had a smoker in the condo for a long time as there was an occasional smokey smell 8- the fans were noise and didn't feel safe to use read more

All condos are individually owned. The first night we got a very ugly terrible room. Dishwasher didn't work. We asked for a new room and the immediately gave us a few different keys to other rooms to go room shopping! We picked a great room with new furnishings, dvd player, flat screen tvs. New kitchen! They even had beach chairs and an umbrella which we used every day. We enjoyed the weekly mai tai pool party. Is located where it is pretty much always sunny and the area is very nice. Close to lots of restaurants and open market shopping. Keep in mind that it is a condo and a lot of them are under construction constantly so every once in a while we got to hear drilling and power tools. Not so good when the pool area was under constuction and we decided to go to the beach instead since it wasn't very relaxing. We will stay there again for sure. read more
