Beautiful location that met our needs with two beds, two baths, & kitchen! The fully stocked kitchen + full size fridge made it easy to eat well morning & evening while dining out for lunch btwn activities. We thoroughly enjoyed walking to and from the beach as well as the pool. I was appreciative that the beach was a hop, skip, & a jump away with outdoor freshwater showers to easily clean up. The condo provided beach chairs which we took advantage of. The down sides- they don't provide enough tea, coffee, or toiletries for your stay. It's a 1-2 day supply at max. There's no spices or cooking oils/sprays. I wish there has been more blankets/quilts and they supplied more towels. While there was a washer/dryer present, you can't use the dryer during quiet hours. And who wants to do laundry while on vacation anyway? The ocean view was lovely altho you have to tolerate the noisy street to enjoy the view and the sea breeze. The staff don't seem to know much abt their surroundings and aren't passionate abt their jobs. While I appreciated the convenience of the concierge, they weren't terribly informed and certainly more expensive than online prices. The TV was a royal pain to maneuver. This is my kids numero uni complaint. Nevertheless, I'd come back for the home away from home vacation feel armed with knowledge of how to make it more cozy. We stayed at an Airbnb here and it was beautiful. I felt the aloha everywhere. Our place was very clean. I woke up everyday to the view of palm trees and the sound of the water fountain, birds singing from our Lanai. The grounds were kept up very well. Every staff member I encountered was kind, helpful, down to earth. Kamaole beach park III and II are right across the street, and I enjoyed every morning walking on the beach. The pool area has a gym with a variety of about 7 cardio machines, dumbbells, bosu balls, foam rollers and a couple weight machines. There's also foosball and a ping pong table. The accommodations worked great for my family of 5 with 3 older teens. It was our second time here and the location is super convenient for what we do in Maui. Is it the best resort ever? No. There is not much to do right there, it is not a "party" complex. however there are quite a few good restaurants and bars walking distance... well if you like to walk a bit. You get what you pay for I guess. Pool is a bit small for the size of the resort IMHO. Ground are well kept and walling around is enjoyable. The beach is right on the other side of the street, with couple of protected sidewalks. Beach is not the widest, but it is great for mixed used and you can snorkel right in front of a lifeguard tower 30/40 yards from the shore as there is a little reef. Location and manicured landscaping and grounds is what makes this place stand out. We thought the location was fantastic being right across the street from the beach and walking distance to dining, bars, grocery, gas and convenience stores. We took full advantage of the lovely bbq areas which were all very clean and well maintained. Pickle ball or tennis? Yes please, they offer free use of courts and free lessons and the gentleman that runs it is very nice and patient!!! There is a concierge on site to help you book activities, we booked a luau and use of paddle board. Our unit was a 2 bedroom with a loft 3 bathroom with an ocean and courtyard view. My only minor complaint was The WiFi was terrible and desk staff not very friendly. Everything thing else was perfect for our group and I would stay here again. read more

Really close walk to the beach ( it's across the street). Some of the units face the ocean. The grounds are well maintained. The staff has been friendly to us. The pool is smaller and only for the people that live / vacation here. There's no bar at the pool but you can bring in snacks and drinks. Live Hawaiian music on Wednesday nights. Had the opportunity to stay here for 4 days during our stay here in Maui. Check-in is after 4pm and the unit we had has a keycode on the door. There is an assigned parking stall outside for the unit nearby as well as a code to get through the parking gate too. Register at the front desk at building 1, by the tennis courts and it is open 24/7. They want to make sure they collect their $41.67 or so resort fee from you at the start of your visit and of course this would be on top of the cost of the fees for the condo itself too. There is one single elevator for each building unit on the end closest to the main part of the building, where the building unit is labeled. There's stairs on either end of the hallways. It's off of Kihei road and only a stones throw from the beach. Our views from the balcony are of the well manicured courtyard on the complex and of course the beach. The units as a whole are a bit older but the unit we stayed in was recently renovated and tastefully done too. The units are older, the condo unit has a single wall AC unit by the terrace and living area and as such the main bedroom area is a bit warmer than the rest of the condo. The fans help circulate the rooms to help cool them off. The kitchen is well equipped to make a meal. There's isn't an oven at all, only the stove top and a toaster oven to cook with is all. It would have been nice to have a coffee grinder since we have been toting around whole Kona and Peaberry coffee beans and all. The unit has two full bathrooms, neither are big, rather compact, but functional. The kitchen is quite big and roomy. The island counter seems to go for miles in the kitchen. The couch in the living area is quite comfy and nice and it even has a pullout bed too. The bed isn't comfy to sleep as the cushions are gapped some. The terrace or balcony is a good amount of additional living space and affords some nice views out to the beach and ocean. The condo isn't big but enough for two people. What is there to say about this place besides nothing but positive reviews. You have to remember that this place majority of the times that people stay here is because of an Airbnb booking so if there were issues, the issues are not with Kamaole Sands, but more with the Airbnb owners of the place that you rented. The grounds are well kept minus the fact that somebody looks like they broke the back gate, but I'm sure they're working on it. Pool is heated and very large. There are two Jacuzzis one for adults and one for family. The adult one is for adults because it is very hot. Depending on where you stay, there are some condos that have great views of the ocean. I have stayed at 4 separate units at Kamaole Sands over the last few years and had no issues. This time was different. The unit 4112 was a bit run down and smelled like a moldy basement. I spent about an hour trying to air it out but we started to get headaches. We decided to leave and had to book a hotel for 4 days. Nowhere in the description did it say that the condo would smell terrible and that it is probably a health hazard. Nowhere in the description did it say that the carpet would be dirty, or that there would be blistering paint from moisture. I immediately informed the property management of the issues and told them that we were not going to stay there. I asked them if I needed to go to the front desk, they told me that I did not need to, and that they would inform them. I certainly didn't fly half way across the ocean to "make up" a problem and have to spend another $1,700 on a hotel. Also, I did not want to spend 4 nights sleeping in a moldy condo. After informing Kamaole sands, they told me that my request for refund was denied because the unit was "professionally cleaned" and that "no one else's complained in the last 3 weeks". These reasons are not valid because the cleaning does nothing to address mold, and I have no proof that anyone else had even stayed there in the last 3 weeks.The reason some units smell so bad is that the owners are too cheap to cycle the AC and they just keep the doors and windows closed. The AC needs to run to keep moisture down. I know this is true because the owner had a bunch of rules about turning off the ac when we go out. They also mentioned that they had ways to determine if someone leaves it on when they leave. Maybe they use the ring camera that is on the door? Creepy. I couldn't imagine a hotel ever doing this. K.S. is in the business, they should know this. They need to take responsibility when they fail to hold the condo owners to a basic levels of health and safety standards. Instead they take the owner' side because they pay their checks. I only chose to stay at K.S. because I trusted them. Once again, I would have tolerated the unit if it weren't for the smell. We did not choose to vacation on a tropical island to get sick from breathing moldy air. It is illogical for them to just write me off a "making this up", I certainly wasn't trying to ruin my vacation over this. Kamaole sands needs to monitor condo air quality and hold the condo owners accountable. Perform mold tests annually at random and inform the owners that they need to keep ventilation even if no one is in the unit. It is not worth making people sick to save a few bucks. I booked before reading reviews ( not good... i know) so after reading the reviews i was a little nervous. We booked 2 units. We got there about an hour before check in. Only one unit was ready so they allowed us to check in to one and wait there til the second one was ready. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our group. We got bldg 6. Rooms 6305 And 6308. As we are walking to 6308, and older lady started making loud comments about our group size. Finally as I am unlocking the door to the unit she yells at me "you better not all be staying in that unit". I said we got another room which she replied "sure, yeah right" I tried to brush it off. Walking into 6308 the AC was running so it was a perfect temperature. The AC is in the living room, only a fan in the bedroom but that was enough for us. The kids stayed in the pull out sofa in the living room. The AC had to be turned off at night bc it is extremely loud. This is the only complaint i have. The place is beautiful. Remodeled. Newer appliances with stocked kitchen. We had a view to the pool. Each unit has assigned parking. Staff was nice. Beach across the street and shopping/food walking distance. We just spent 10 days in a ground floor unit in building #10. Had a wonderful stay. We loved the location and walked to lots of dinners as well as the coffee stands every morning. Wonderful evening sunsets across the street at Kam #3. The pool is nice as well. We never used the barbecue areas but they looked great. Grounds are lovely. The only thing we found odd is that all entrances are gated but the main one. So anyone could come onto the grounds via the main gate while we had to enter a code very time at ours. One night while watching the sunset on the front grass I was harassed by a man that appeared to be high or had a mental health issue that came off the street and waltzed right in. That was a little unnerving. Other than though, great place to stay in a really centrally located spot of Kihei. I'd recommend. read more

Beautiful property. We rented out an apartment for our family holiday. The grounds are extremely well maintained and had all the amenities we needed. Awesome pool and hot tub area, and plenty of grills/BBQ area for cooking. The staff was also extremely helpful when we were trying to book activities. The apartment itself was lovely. We were able to hang out on the lanai when we weren't exploring. There was just enough space for the five of us. Would definitely stay on our next trip back to Maui. Before you book this place, know that units have 6hr timers for the ac. So whenever your time runs out, you'll need to get up and wind it back up. The first unit we were assigned, I would give that ZERO stars! When we arrived, someone was parked in our assigned stall so we had to call and get reassigned. Then when we got up to the unit, the owner did not leave the ac remote and had it set to what it felt like the hottest setting possible as a cruel joke. The setting was also set to auto so the ac would turn off the fan and wouldn't come on for awhile. We even had maintenance come to try and get the AC to stay on but that didn't work. When we called the receptionist, they informed us that everything was booked so we went back in person to get our money back. It was around 4:00 and the supervisor had gone home for the day. The only reason I'm giving this place a 3 star review is because the receptionist remained calm and professional with our tired, sweaty, cranky butts. She was able to find a last minute cancellation for us to stay in that ended up being one of the 2 bedroom units and comped our upgrade. The second unit we were assigned was nice. Again it had the 6hr timer but thankfully it was broken so I didn't need to wind it constantly. My 5 month old baby and I slept upstairs in the loft but because the ac and ceiling fan was so dusty, our allergies were going nuts and neither of us got good sleep. My parents slept downstairs and had a portable ac in their room. My overall recommendation is that if you are spending this much money, spend a little more for a hotel and not a condo (unless it's super nice). The listing for this particular unit only had one review when we booked it and the review was only one sentence, which made me a bit wary. However, this was the only place that was a 2 bed 2 bath that I found within our price range, which wasn't even on the low end. I decided to take a chance and hope for the best. The location is very convenient. The grounds itself is beautiful and well taken care of. The pool and jacuzzis (one for adults and kids and one for adults only) are small considering how many units it serves (the Kamaole Sands is huge). This unit hasn't been properly updated and maintained as well as it should be. There are holes/tears in the screen door to the lanai as well as the screens on the windows of the bedrooms. One of the sinks has slow drainage when you brushed your teeth or washed your face. The bathrooms and kitchen need huge make overs (there is visible old damage to both bathtubs...I know it's old because of the color in each of the holes). The blankets are really old, thin, and not something you want to lay with after a long day. It's great to have access to a kitchen, washer/dryer, and a larger space (compared to a hotel), but I feel that there were too many "boo hoo's" and not as many "whoo hoo's" to justify how much the entire stay cost us. The final straw: having to kill cockroaches in the bathroom. Let's hope we didn't bring any back with us (we took all precautions and put away food and drinks into the fridge immediately, took out trash twice a day, and wiped down all surfaces just to avoid pests). This was our first trip back to Maui in four years and sadly I wish I didn't end up booking this place and having to write this review. But on the flip side I do want others to know what they are getting themselves into as the price per night is expensive, on top of all the added extra fees. read more

Also, we had a serious security issue where an owner below us was stalking us and scared a young woman in our group very much. We filed a police report. Stayed here in late June through early July. Amazing property, condo, and location! You need a gate code to enter the property. There were in the middle of fixing several units roofs while we were there, but this did not diminish the ambiance or slow anything down. About 1000 feet from the beach. We stayed in unit 9. Almost everything is within walking distance. Parking is included in the stay. However, parking in not the best outside of the resort. We stayed in a 4th floor 2-bedroom loft with a hideaway bed. Spiral staircase in the middle. It has an ocean and mountain view. The room had chairs, towels, a boogie board, and other items you could use at the beach for free (we donated the snorkel gear - enjoy). They offer tennis and pickleball. It cost $10 +tax to rent pickleball items (sign up in the lobby). The Wi-Fi was not the best, but it did not deter form anything. My only complaint was that the front desk staff were very robotic. Always had a smile and didn't do anything wrong, but we were visiting paradise...they obviously live there and it might be just another day to them. We stayed in Oahu for 3 days before this and even though it was overwhelmingly touristy, they made us feel like we were on vacation. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is thinking about staying in Maui. read more

The room assigned to us at Kamole Sands was being cleaned when we arrived for check in, the front desk employee had us wait an extra 3 more hours before the room was "clean". When we finally got in our room the main bathroom had long black, brown, and blonde hair all around the bathroom floor and around the rim of the toilet. I knew it couldn't have been from me or my husband as I have short, purple hair and he's bald. There was black mold on the shower railing and rust chips around the tub drain. The shower curtain had not been cleaned in a while as you could clearly see black mold spots growing. The TV, WIFI, room safe, and water heater were all broken and did not work. On our last day we experienced two maintenance men opening our hotel room door; unannounced, stating the hotel manger, Kasper Rasmussen, needed them to fix the safe...which was clearly broken before we arrived. My husband and I were about to go into the shower when these men opened our front hotel door and stepped in. We asked them to leave and immediately went to the front office. As we informed the front office of our concerns they did nothing to calm the situation or apologize. They just lied to us and said it "was no big deal", when I also asked to speak with the manager they informed me the manager was on the property and would be with us shortly. We found out quickly that the manager was nowhere near the hotel on Wednesday afternoon. After waiting over an hour and a half to speak with the hotel manger, Kasper Ramussen, could NOT be bothered by our concerns for our safety and privacy being violated, along with the decency to check the rooms before sending contract workers to a clearly used room. Thankfully we were inside the room with all of our valuables. After over an hour of trying to communicate our privacy being violated, and waiting for a simple apology and ownership to his mistake, we were given an eye roll and lightly shrugged off with a half-baked "I'm sorry..." My husband and I had to request a new door code for our room...not the manager himself. He also responded to our request with, "Do you trust the hotel staff?" Which left us stunned with no response to answer him with. Our last day of our stay was spent locked in the hotel room with an unsettling feeling of vulnerability, and no sleep from the both of us. We left the next morning as soon as possible, completely disappointed and appalled by this hotel's mannerisms and lack of professionalism from the employees and manger, Kasper Ramussen himself. read more

Since I knew we were staying in Kihei, I found Kamaole Sands to be the best value for two couples sharing a two bedroom unit, and it was a short walk to a great beach. My privately owned unit had DVD player, CD player, full kitchen w/ microwave and dishwasher (though I brought one), washer & dryer, beach chairs and towels, two TVs, ice maker, and cooler. Very dirty! I should have known better than to book on Priceline. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is nice. It's in a great location and the staff is super nice. The problem was the dirty room and no AC in the bedroom. There was trash and hair from the past guests. Nothing was clean and be aware they have a $300 cleaning fee.....not sure what they use this for exactly since nothing was cleaned except they placed new towels. I'm ok with old worn things as long as it's clean. This was not clean and smelled terrible. Also, the bed really sucked and needs to be replaced. read more

Do I think 306$ a night is worth it, at this specific location (building 5 room 416)? definitely not. This condo is in heavy need of a 30000 dollar renovation and needs tons of work done. One would think for the amount being paid each night, there would be more work done to make this place actually look decent. The minute we walked in we were warmly greeted by cockroaches and don't expect it to be a one time encounter. You will definitely see multiple cockroaches each morning. We were so alarmed to see a cockroach that was about two inches long. All the ceiling fans were laden with a film of visible dust that one would not even dare to turn it on. The ac smelled musty and probably hasn't had a filter change in ages. The curtains were absolutely filthy with heavy staining seen, that one wouldn't even want to touch it. A brown Film of dust on window sills with candy wrapper was at every window. All the bath towels and bedding sheets had a stale stench that we had to run a wash cycle prior to using. The bathtub has heavy staining and mold in the corners. Ancient water taps that drip constantly. Towels that are threadbare. Vacuum cleaner that doeseven work and no dust pan. No safe for valuables. Screen door needs replacing and the list goes on. The only redeemable factor for this place was our scenic ocean and garden view with the sunshine always hitting us :) Please make this establishment more appealing that one would want to fork over 300 plus each night. I would give this place zero star, but it's not an option. I stayed in 5-106. There's quite a few things in the unit that I am not pleased about, but I will skip to the part that is really unacceptable. I checked in Thursday night. On Saturday night, I came back to my unit after a long day only to find out that I am locked out. The keypad to the unit wasn't working. Called the front desk from my cell phone and they never answered the phone. Finally got in contact with the front desk after I used the phone from another unit. Long story short, battery on the keypad needed to be changed. Security unlocked the door for me that night. I was told that the next day, maintenance will have to change the battery on the keypad. I left the condo early Sunday morning to go to Hana. Came back late night and the same thing, locked out of my unit and the keypad was still blinking red. No one changed the battery! Unit was then unlocked by security but was told they couldn't give me the key. I was planning on using the spa after a long day of hiking but I risk getting locked out of my unit again if I leave. Yes, I can call the front desk again and if I get lucky they might answer the phone when I call from my cell phone. So I'm basically a prisoner in my own unit. I'm not even going to get to the amount of time I had to wait for my unit to get unlocked, heck, just the time for the front desk to answer the phone! The level of customer service is very poor. Front desk personnel has been trying to get in contact with the manager but not getting a call back. I have stayed at plenty of hotels, Airbnb, VRBO places in the past and this is the first time I have experience this level of service. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Rude and dismissive check-in staff. Awful wifi that barely works. Our 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms unit in building 9 had zero reception and the slowest internet ever. Our reserved parking spot was a far walk away from our building, which made carrying luggages and groceries to/from very difficult. The blanket on top of our bed was filthy - oil stains and a red stain that looked like dried blood. Disgusting! We immediately threw it off and into the washer machine. There was a really crusty and dirty knife in the kitchen. Although I must say, the kitchen was nice and updated but the bathrooms were very dated. We paid about ~$260 per night here and stayed a total of 3 but because the unit was in dirty conditions, staff was rude, complex was noisey, we will never stay here again. Like many yelpers mentioned earlier, we are being charged undisclosed hidden fees $$$ (so-called checkout cleaning fee) during our two days of staying in a one bedroom. The staffs were very unwelcoming. Although the room itself was decent, we only had a single use decaf coffee bag in the kitchen, and the housekeeping person never showed up. The general manager seemed arrogant and inattentive. Whenever we asked him a question, he just seats behind his computer and said: " read here, go there..." This was our 3rd trip to Maui and each stay was a different condo/location on South Kihei road so I am basing this review off comparing it to price point and amenities of the other spots. We booked this vacation through a travel agency in January 2020, travel date for late July 2020, not expecting the pandemic to continue through the summer. When we booked, we paid the travel agency in full, just a little over $3200 for 10 days at this resort, rental car, and airfare from Nevada. We though it was a good deal until we learned in March 2021 that the price of the hotel increased by $880 and we would have to pay that in addition to continue our reservation at this resort. The photos online looked amazing, so despite thinking this was a significant increase to our trip we went ahead and paid it. Upon arrival the grounds are certainly well maintained. They put a lot of effort into the appearance of the location. Very tropical, lush, and beautiful greenery and floral. Our condo, not impressed at all. Building 4, bottom end unit. Loved the grill access right outside our patio and that was about the best part. Condo alone was roughly $235 a night. I realize Hawaii is flocking with tourism now and people will pay anything, but this was NOT worth over $200 a night. In May 2021 we took an impromptu trip last minute with 2 kids for a wedding. Stayed 7 days in an Air b&b at $89 a night. The place was small, one bedroom one bath with a kitchen, but was significantly more impressive than what we just paid nearly $2200 for. Things that were worth it... Unit was close to pool. Jimmy the day pool guy was super friendly and gave us ice daily. We left him all our uneaten food and beer as a token of appreciation. Grilling area was super nice and convenient. Full kitchen was functioning well. Washer and dryer in unit. Dishwasher. Close parking in assigned space was very close to condo entrance. Clean pool area, BYOB and food allowed. 4 beach towels provided. Lots of pool and ocean gear as well as beach chairs (no cooler, our last condo left us a cooler, beach bags, and had 12 bottles of various sunblock) in the outside closet to use. Good air conditioning--one unit in main area and separate unit in bedroom. Things that let us down... (I want to add a disclaimer that we are not hoity toity people. We make good money, but can stay at a $59 room or a $599 and it wouldn't matter to us, we just like the price point to reflect what we're getting) The condo was so outdated. No extra blankets. The one blanket we had for our bed was comparable to a Uhaul moving blanket. The main bedrooms comforter looked like it was purchased at Family Dollar for $15 bed in a bag style. The mattress was awful. Tropical inspired furniture was ok, but super tacky and needed updating. Some small inexpensive touches would make the place so much more inviting. There were no amenities in the kitchen at all. We usually pay it forward and replace baggies, tin foil, spices, Saran Wrap, etc. the condo website said the units had basic spices and oil or cooking spray. Ours had NOTHING. These are not things people want to buy on vacation and lug home or leave behind. The least they could do was have some basics for guests. I am a chef and cooked 7/10 nights. I luckily brought things with us, but was very disappointed in the lack of anything useful. The utensils were sporadic. No spatula. No grill utensils. 19 forks, but only 2 spoons. The pool is not big enough to support the amount of guests there. Pool concrete deck smelled strongly of urine from all the kids. Needs a bleach power wash. No Mai Tai Wednesday's anymore, but they advertise they still have them. No access to ice. Have to ask someone to fill coolers or bags for you. Staff looks annoyed to have to do this. No paddle board or kayaks for use, other condos we stayed at had these for free with the same price point. Internet didn't work and I spent an hour with a Charter Communication person to resolve it. Not how I wanted to spend my first hour in Maui. The employees should be dealing with units whose owners reset the settings back to default. The wifi and code we were given were not working due to the owner resetting them. It was an easy fix but took a lot of our time to handle an issue the condos front desk should be keeping track of. Long walk to the beach that was just Ok. Other two places we stayed at for way less was beach access with 30 seconds walk out the front door. If we ever go back to Maui I'll rebook at One of the cheaper condos that offered much more foe way less. Were they as "big" as this unit. No. But for the 2 of us, no kids on this trip, it wasn't worth the price point. I think the condo itself is great for people with families and probably different units have a lot more to offer, but I would not suggest this location if you're looking for the luxury you would expect from a condo that has over a $200 average per night cost. read more

To me this is a shady place. I booked through Agoda and was told I was to pay $75. What a lovely surprise to walk in and be charged $75 and an extra $155 cleaning fee. The third party merchant told me that this was not a fee I was suppose to pay and even called the hotel-- they didn't care. The hotel could not justify the fee. They did not add the fee to their online listing-- so I got a false rate. In order to get the keys they forced us to pay this fee. To me this is an unfair business practice and they couldn't care less. I would not stay here again and think that the price they advertised should be the one they honor. read more

This place is a great deal for what it is, and relative to the other places to stay in Maui. Let's me clear. This is by no means a high end luxury resort...all the condos are privately owned and maintained. So there will be some variance between rooms. You won't open your balcony to see the beach right there, there's no spa and meditation center with cucumber water either. Just a place (at least in our rooms) with a master bedroom, a kitchen, a sofa bed, dining area and a washer/dryer! I know I'm vacation, but I've never been the type to be ultra super pampered in the aforementioned places above. I can stand to do my own laundry, cook a meal for myself and drive a little bit. And it's actually just a walk across the street to Kamaole beach...one of the nicer (and less crowded) beaches on the island. If you're willing to make those sacrifices then this place will cut save you lots of money on lodging. How much? Well since you can comfortably sleep 4 in this place, and looking at the prices of other resorts on the island in other areas you could conceivably pay 5 -10x the price per person per night elsewhere! I don't know about you but I'd save that money to come back more frequently! It's not perfect mind you, the AC unit is a small wall unit that can struggle and is loud, there are little critters sometimes (hey it's a freaking tropical island - we're in their environment) and the furnishings can be dated - although there has been remodeling since I last stayed here years ago so that shows they do do maintenance. Yay! Everyone in my group loved Castle Kamaole Sands. Though all of our condos were v. different as far as furnishing, renovated rooms, and how well stocked they were with amenities (like kitchen stuff or beach stuff), they were all comfortable and clean. The unit I stayed in, 8-210, had wifi and the kitchen cabinets were extremely well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. There were 3 coffee makers, 2 rice cookers, an electric griddle, George Foreman grill, and a blender. We made use of everything they had to offer. It's pretty much a luck thing, whether or not you get a condo that's equipped with useful things but if you're dissatisfied, you could always inquire about getting a new room. The staff were pretty friendly (though one girl seemed kind of incompetent) so I'm sure they'd be cooperative. The one incompetent girl had trouble understanding that we had booked 2 rooms under one name and 3 more rooms under 3 different names. She thought the 2 rooms under one name was actually just 1 room even though it said on the confirmation printout that there were 2 rooms. She kept saying, "No, it's one bedroom, TWO BATHROOMS, not two bedrooms," while we argued, "No, we booked TWO rooms, TWO separate condos. We realize that there are two bathrooms in each condo." It was kind of a waste of time and she had a horrible attitude and reaction to our arguing. The grounds themselves are really pleasant and I liked the pool area. If your condo doesn't have wifi you can always go to the registration building. Each condo is assigned a parking spot. There are a few barbecue areas set up around the complex. The one closest to my room had 3 grills and 2 picnic tables. The complex is right across from the beach, which is convenient and there are tons of shops on the same street, within walking distance. read more

My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend at Kamaole Sands and had an overall great experience. I found Kamaole Sands when searching for a good air/hotel/car package deal on Maui. We were in building 9, unit 307. The decor had that 1990s Hawaiian vibe, but it was almost so tacky that it was charming. Great lanai that had a partial ocean view and nice, big table for 4. We checked in at about 4PM (one hour past check-in time) and had to wait about 20 minutes outside the front door while the maid finished up. Not the worst thing in the world, but if we had been traveling all the way from the mainland or something I would probably be pretty irked after all that traveling to find that my room wasn't ready on time. Again, not a big deal for us, but slightly annoying. Our unit had all the amenities we needed: towels, extra blankets and pillows, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, laundry detergent, cookware, silverware, beach chairs, everything. The only things we had to buy were a little bit of food and booze. The A/C situation is kind of weird, but I can understand that it can get pretty pricey if guests are constantly running the A/C whether they are in the room or not. You could only run it for an hour at a time, it had a timer on it, so during the night while we slept the A/C would be on all the way in the living room (down a long hallway) but only for one hour. And then, of course, you're sleeping so you're not going to want to get up all the time to keep cranking it. We had a ceiling fan in our room but could only keep it on a low speed...any higher and it looked and sounded like it was going to fly off! So, that's probably my only gripe. It wasn't uncomfortable sleeping, at least not for me, my husband slept above the covers and said he was hot throughout the night. There are quiet hours, but a couple nights we did hear other guests talking quite loudly in the parking lot or the hallways in the middle of the night. No raging parties or anything, just some drunks with no volume control. This probably wouldn't have even affected us if we were able to keep the windows closed and the A/C on instead of the other way around. Overall though, we were satisfied and I would recommend Kamaole Sands. The grounds are maintained very well, the staff was friendly, the beach park across the street was perfect to unwind at the end of the day and not have to worry about driving back "home". Also there's some fun little restaurants and whatnot just a short walk down the road. Kihei is a fun little town. It was great for a long weekend, but I'm not sure I would choose this place for an extended stay...not more than a week anyway. And this is purely based on the A/C situation and the less than stellar bedding (thin comforter! Personal pet peeve). read more

If I could give this zero stars I would . I will give it one because the grounds were maintained which is what makes this dump so deceiving. I booked through Costco travel and sadly didn't look at reviews first . I had such a wonderful Maui experience 5 years ago I figured how could you go wrong anywhere in Maui . I quickly found out you can go wrong . This hotel is on the bad side of town . Which I understand now was a nice place to go about a decade ago . So first the room/condo or whatever it was was old and completely dirty . Bugs , mold in shower , the ceiling was even full of dust walls marked up , floors dirty . I didn't realize when I booked they considered a fold out could a second bed . I asked for 2 queens . The fold out was fit with a very this mattress with a sheet covering that didn't actually cover . The thin sheets were old and smelled . Room smelled old and like cigarette . Air conditioner didn't work well . The place was a sweat box .TV was old and didn't work . We saw bugs crawling in the coffee maker . We didn't even have sand soap . I traveled with 2 daughters and a toddler . The beach across the street is not really a beach with sand you can lay and play on . It's mostly all black rock . You must cross a busy street and a park filled with homeless persons and drunks that stared us down . A group of 3 men actually followed us around until we left and walked back to the hotel . We were horrified with the whole experience . The hotel manager was a mean Asian guy who just yelled back when I had a complaint . Not friendly at all . We didn't shower or unpack anything . We slept here one night and the following morning I got us out of this hell hole . I got a refund from my Costco travel and booked the rest of my vacation on the opposite shore in the Lahaina end . Which is a complete 180 from this dump . It cost me extra but well worth the switch especially for our 2 year old . The difference is like night and day . Heed warning spend some extra and go to one of the resorts on the Lahaina / kaanapali side you will be glad you did for your family . read more

We really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo, came with 2 bathrooms and nicely furnished island style. All kitchen amenities made it so useful since we saved money doing most of our own cooking. The location was perfect! Close to everything including our favorite supermarket, Safeway and Longs Drugs (very inexpensive & covered all our needs, including much lower priced souvineers). The Condo was well kept and the owner even had beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys etc for use. Aside from a tropical setting, pool, jacuzzi, gym,etc, This place is also right in front of Kamaole beach III....a beautiful beach perfect for snorkling and swimming.... If I return to Maui, I would definitely stay here again! read more

Really REALLY depends on which unit you get. Can only write about 1-207 (bldg 1, condo 207). Well stocked unit that super impressed us, including kitchen to beach items. Only room complaints are that being across driveway of registration building meant we heard EVERY car and guest arriving at all hours of day. Place was listed as "partial ocean view," it's not. No water view at all. Should be listed as "garden view." Being across from beach was fantastic. Useful location for exploring Kihei. My review in no way recommends other units so really check out what is in your unit and the location before selecting (we wanted bldg closest to beach and far from a noisy pool). Low stars are for overall resort. Incredibly small pool for a 10-building property. Hot tub overloaded with unsupervised kids beyond body count max. They should be in kid pool instead. No staff to enforce rules. Small snack bar but cash only. Loud gardening three days in a row starting at 8ish was totally not cool. Chance to have coffee on lanai but couldn't due to gas exhaust rising from motorized mower. Work has to happen but three straight mornings is pushing it. Don't come here expecting resort amenities like onsite restaurant too. Think more stand alone rental and you'll be happier. If you expect perks and large pool, book a true resort spot elsewhere (our plan next time). read more
