Kami is a gem of a restaurant in Manchester! We are so happy to have this cozy and wonderful place in our small town. We often prefer it over other Asian restaurants in bigger cities. Have been here so many times and just haven't taken the time to write a review. Every time we go it's a four to five star experience. I wouldn't expect any restaurant to be beyond perfect and still be reasonably priced. Kami is an admirable blend of comfortable ambience, friendly service, and high quality food and drinks. I love their sushi and I've had sushi my entire adult life. It's always fresh and prepared well. Their other Asian dishes and hibachi-style dishes are also great. I've only ever had one thing I wasn't crazy about, and even it was still good. Their cocktails are also delicious. I recently had a strawberry and gin concoction that was amazing and had fresh muddled strawberries in it. I'm a huge supporter of Kami and appreciate everything their staff does to bring such an enjoyable restaurant experience to our little area of middle Tennessee. My husband took me here for dinner because he knows I love sushi. He isn't a sushi person, but he was able to order some other foods like steak and tempura. Food was delicious, service was good and restaurant is very clean. The only thing I wasn't pleased with was having to use a QR code to see the menu. I'd prefer an actual physical menu. read more

Came here on a Friday night just before 5. We were seated right away. The waiter was very nice and friendly. Part of the table ordered sushi and the other ordered hibachi. So here's my issue with the restaurant. Hibachi items came out way before the sushi. I was finished with my food before the sushi came out. Everyone's food was good but, the kitchen really needs to get their timing down. Really impacts the dining experience when the meals aren't served at, or near, the same time. read more

This was my second time at this establishment although my last time. We placed our order 25-30mins fine we get there in 20 minutes had to wait on our order another 50 minutes. It's was not crowded. The food for the price horrible. ( Rice in the Sushi hard. Serving low grade seafood. Shrimp dumplings had pieces of shrimp more wrapper than anything. We came in after a recommendation and we haven't had sushi since we moved here. We got a few appetizers like a Kami salad octopus sashimi and appetizer sashimi platter . The tuna and salmon were great on my entree came with ginger and wasabi in a martini glass . Wife's kani salad was great as well and just like back home in NY. The octopus was a little tough but still delicious. Everything was very fresh and they have a wide selection of meals to choose from. We'll come back again. read more

Kami was hands down one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in a long time and it was all because of the bar. We waited an absurd amount of time for our drinks. Not fancy, complicated, smoke-infused cocktails. Basic drinks. It took so long that we were halfway through our appetizers before anything even showed up. By the time the drinks finally arrived, the excitement (and honestly, the patience) was completely gone. If you're going to run a restaurant with a bar, the bar needs to function properly. Waiting 20-30+ minutes for a simple drink order is unacceptable. The food might have been decent, but it's hard to enjoy anything when you're stuck feeling ignored and dehydrated. The whole experience felt disorganized and poorly managed. If you're planning to go to Kami, either skip the drinks entirely or be prepared to test your patience. I won't be rushing back. Overall, the management was genuinely terrible and made me never want to go back. read more

This place surprised our entire party of 5 with its quality and value. No shade on Manchester, TN, but its rural vibe and quaint small town feel didn't exactly scream "great sushi" at first glance. We were wrong. We ordered a variety of entrees, a few appetizers, and 3 different sushi. Everything was fresh, tasty and appropriately proportioned. We reminisced to Old Timers Day in Manchester on this glorious fall day! We wanted to experience Kami Sushi & Asian Kitchen on the beginning of the Korean Thanksgiving holiday (Chuseok- Fall Harvest). The restaurant is a little hidden off Highway 41 on the back side of the courthouse square in Manchester. The restaurant is authentic with its ambiance of decorative dining room with a sushi expert preparing fresh dishes! The service was extremely inviting and friendly to cater to each guests quickly and efficiently! The menu was extensive with every Asian cuisine to enjoy over and over! I had Hibachi Steak and Chicken with steamed vegetables that were cooked perfectly. My wife had California Rolls and Hibachi Shrimp with noodles. I'm a regular. I always get sushi here, and it's always excellent. If you want to be extravagant, go for the ultimate sushi and sashimi combo (see photo). Cost is $40, so not cheap, but could be a lot more. My wife loves the steak and chicken hibachi. This is a new place, and they haven't figured out timing quite yet. Often the sushi comes out after the hibachi stuff, because it takes longer to prepare. Also, I once had an addon order take about 45 minutes to show up. Probably because they put it in the back of the line behind a bunch of full orders. They learn from their mistakes, though. I expect in a year's time they will have ironed out the organization problems. If the food is great, the rest doesn't matter much. If the food isn't great, no matter how good the service is it won't be enough. read more

Service was great. Miso soup is literally water. You're better off going to Kroger or Publix for sushi for more flavor and less rice. The hibachi is OK but small portions and the fried rice has no egg or veggies in it. read more

Austin was our server he was amazing. But the manager Mika was on a little power trip. He had a little DS syndrome. We didn't know that we couldn't seat ourselves and to be treated like crap and to spend that much money. We will go back, but not when Mika is managing. we did tip Austin really well because he was an amazing server. Just be careful when you go there. Watch out for the management. read more

A treasure for Manchester. We walked in at 8pm and were seated quickly in their very spacious and well decorated dining room. The service was exceptional: you can tell you're in a family restaurant that cares about their reputation. Food came out quick, hot, and fresh. My tonkatsu ramen was just what I wanted: savory, hot, REAL chasu with char marks and flavor, presented in a way that was appealing to my eyes and tummy. The Golden Phoenix sushi roll blew my socks off: the grilled flavor of the roll combined with the tangy sauce was a welcome treat. My wife's chicken and salmon hibachi was huge, and came out hot and equally easy on the eyes. We spent a little over $50 and that was with drinks. I really hope more people try this place so I can continue to eat here. It's an excellent spot for a date night, or any other night out away from the home kitchen.
