Dine in | Dinner | $30-50 Very disappointed this time around wee spent the night celebrating my daughters birthday Orders appetisers they were great placed our orders. The waitress went over the ingredients asking if everything will be okay including the broccoli we say yes we understand what we were ordering. We picked are soups in Face are coming in sushi. First soups never arrived. Entrees arrived we had to say can we please have a soup then we noticed that the the broccoli that she pointed out. We order to Long Island teas and barely had any alcohol in them. Look more lemonade for spending almost $150 for four people in which only two alcohol drinks were ordered. Very disappointed. This is not the first time we've eaten there. I think it's way overpriced I don't think we will be going back.

Volcano Roll on the left, Marilyn Monroe Roll on the right

We go to Yamato at least once every month or two and realized I've never left a review. I love sushi, but my husband doesn't so it's a great place to go as he likes the teriyaki & hibachi meals. We are always greeted & seated right away. This evening, I ordered the Volcano roll & the Marilyn Monroe roll (yes, they missed the mark on naming this the Marilyn Monroll). Too much for one person, but I like variety! The Volcano roll is warm & spicy & the Marilyn Monroe is cool with mild flavors; nice duo together. I also recommend the Irene roll as it's also one of my favorites. My husband ordered the Teriyaki steak dinner. It comes with soup, salad & rice. Choice of soup was miso or onion. The teriyaki steak comes on a sizzling platter. My husband said it's very good but hard to eat. He felt it needs to be served on a plate with a knife to cut the steak strips. He enjoyed it though. Our server, Miranda, was just the sweetest! So friendly, very attentive & even got us drinks to go! We've always had great servers there. This Yamato was remodeled a few years ago and is a nice, casual restaurant with a very friendly atmosphere. We really enjoying eating here.

Chicken hibachi plate (3 stars) meat was very dry, rice was not hot/fresh, broccoli was good.

The atmosphere was nice! Low lights & good vibes inside. Had a late lunch here & really enjoyed the sushi! Fresh & delicious. The hibachi however was very over cooked & dry (chicken) & the rice was not fresh (had been sitting for awhile) broccoli was good. Ordered a margarita, but it tasted like straight lemonade. The waitress told the owner/bartender & after some communication ultimately fixed it. Stick with the sushi it won't disappoint!

Finally had a chance to check out the remodeled Yamato, and they did a fantastic job--environment is excellent! Love the bento boxes and lunch hibachi options.

    Dancing with Salmon

This was a decent Japanese restaurant in Tullahoma. There are a lot of maki variety (not much for sashimi and sushi). I ordered "dancing with salmon", with tuna, white tuna, cucumber, jalapeño, salmon and salmon roe. It is one of those rolls you need to dip into the soy sauce since it's all fish and no sauce. I wish they would've de-seeded the jalapeño. And maybe add more salmon roe on top. Next, I ordered the "spicy star" - and this, I love!! It comes in 4 pieces, in sushi form. The spicy octopus and crawfish were toasted and warm. Solid sushi to the bite! The agedashi tofu had spicy mayo and unagi sauce..a bit different from what I'm used to. Not a fan, but it's not a deal breaker...I like all tofu

Crunch roll, shrimp tempura roll, boston roll, jungle roll.

It's a chain restaurant but it probably won't make you sick. I'd given it 2.5 if able. Exactly half good and bad. Really nice hostess/owner.

Have been here so many times and just haven't taken the time to write a review. Every time we go it's a four to five star experience. I wouldn't expect any restaurant to be beyond perfect and still be reasonably priced. Kami is an admirable blend of comfortable ambience, friendly service, and high quality food and drinks. I love their sushi and I've had sushi my entire adult life. It's always fresh and prepared well. Their other Asian dishes and hibachi-style dishes are also great. I've only ever had one thing I wasn't crazy about, and even it was still good. Their cocktails are also delicious. I recently had a strawberry and gin concoction that was amazing and had fresh muddled strawberries in it. I'm a huge supporter of Kami and appreciate everything their staff does to bring such an enjoyable restaurant experience to our little area of middle Tennessee. If you're passing through, or live here, you can't miss this restaurant!

I stopped here a few weeks ago with my co-driver before getting back on the road. I had been…read morecraving sushi for a while and found Sake Roll & Grill on Google Maps. To start with the positive, the sushi itself was actually solid for an all-you-can-eat spot. AYCE sushi can sometimes be hit or miss, but the rolls and sashimi here were better quality than I expected. We arrived around 8:30 PM on a Sunday. The restaurant closes at 10 PM and the place was still fairly busy with customers. We were greeted kindly by a host with pink hair and seated near the TV across from the sushi station. Service overall was friendly. Where the experience became frustrating was how early the sushi bar shut down. By around 9 PM, every sushi chef had already broken down their stations. I'm talking fully cleaned cases, wiped counters, and the sushi bar basically closed. There were around five to seven sushi chefs working, so it was surprising to see the entire sushi station shut down while customers were still dining. At the very least it would make sense to keep one or two sushi chefs working closer to closing time, or let customers know something like "last call for sushi is at 8:45." We weren't told anything when we walked in. I've spent about 17 years working in kitchens and culinary, and in most restaurants if something is about to be 86'd or is nearing last call, the staff communicates that clearly to the guests. To be fair, the sushi I did receive was good. What I ordered: Miso soup Two crab salads Avocado salad Snapper sashimi Tuna sashimi Tako sashimi Spicy California roll White Tiger roll Spicy tuna roll Crabmeat roll Cucumber roll And yes, I finished everything. My co-driver was honestly surprised I was going to eat all that, but I don't leave food behind. I even had room for another roll or two. The sashimi and rolls were good quality overall. A few pricing things were a little confusing though. Sashimi costs an extra fifty cents per piece while nigiri does not, even though the only difference is the rice. There is also an eighteen percent charge for wasted food plus fifty cents per uneaten piece. I understand discouraging waste, but the combination of those charges felt a bit excessive. The base AYCE price was around twenty-two to twenty-three dollars, which is fair. However the additional charges can stack up quickly. The miso soup was unfortunately the weakest part of the meal. It tasted extremely watered down, almost like plain broth. My total ended up being around thirty-three dollars after tax, which isn't terrible, but the early sushi bar shutdown and lack of communication made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be. Overall the sushi quality was solid and I'd still come back again. Just give customers a heads up about last call for sushi and this place would easily be a home run.

Most sushi restaurants aim for quiet elegance. Sake Roll &…read moreGrill went with giant sports bar television and hoped the sushi would keep up. This place is a little off the beaten path, but the reviews looked promising, so we decided a small sushi road trip was in order. I walked in expecting the usual sushi restaurant vibe. Instead I was greeted by a television so large it could probably pick up signals from space. When I say massive, I mean it takes up an entire wall. Nothing pairs with delicate nigiri quite like a television the size of a drive-in movie screen. The all you can eat menu is a little limited when it comes to rolls, which was a bit surprising. But the nigiri selection was actually pretty strong and, more importantly, surprisingly fresh. Plenty of options and the fish held up well over multiple rounds. The cooked items were also plentiful, which helps if someone in your group is not fully committed to the raw fish lifestyle. Overall, I enjoyed the food. The service, however, moved at a pace that felt very... deliberate. Very, very slow. Slow enough that you start wondering if the rice is being strategically deployed to fill you up before your next order arrives. Still, the food was good and the experience enjoyable enough to land at a slightly above average four stars. Tip: come with extra time and patience. Settle in, watch a good sporting event on that enormous TV, and pack away some pretty solid sushi. Four stars. A little off the beaten path, a little slow on the service, but good sushi and possibly the biggest TV you will ever see in a sushi restaurant.
