    32. Beef Noodle Soup
    Iris S.

The food was just okay. My pad see ew was overly salty and didn't include the eggs mentioned on the menu. My husband ordered the beef noodle soup, which turned out too sour and missing both the meatballs and cilantro. The addition of bell peppers was confusing and didn't fit the dish. On the bright side, the Thai tea was really good, the restaurant was clean, and the service was decent.

Service was not so great - it was empty but the server/owner/manager? was not the friendliest and seemed bothered when we had questions or requests. The lunch specials are filling and the stir fry and curries come with rice. The thai iced tea was delicious too. Presentation of the dishes was really nice.

In the area and decided to try this place out. There was no one in the restaurant. Ordered a pad Thai and panang curry level 1 heat. Food was overly very sweet. The curry came with pork, green beans and bell peppers. Service was good. Lots of parking.

I've tried their Spicy Fried Rice, Regular Fried Rice, and Pad See-Ew on different occasions, and each time, I've asked them to make it extra fried or more charred for that deep, smoky wok hei flavor. The Spicy Fried Rice is absolutely fantastic - bold, flavorful, and seriously spicy, which I loved. The Regular Fried Rice and Pad See-Ew are both solid choices in terms of flavor and texture, but they don't quite compare to the Spicy Fried Rice with that extra wok hei. It's easily becoming my go-to spot when I'm craving a great fried rice dish. Beyond the food, their prices are super affordable, and the service is consistently friendly, making it an even better experience. If you love wok-fried flavors and a good spice kick, this place is definitely worth checking out!

My company ordered catering from this pace and the quality of the food is worsen over the years. The dipping sauce for the spring roll is very sweet and plain. The string beans in Panang curry is not well cooked. The green curry is tasteless and vegetables are not well cooked. The Pad-see-ew is also sweet. The fried rice is not well seasoned. The only thing I guess my company is ordering from this place is either the one who ordered doesn't know how good Thai food taste or the price is very cheap.

This Thai restaurant is located in a strip mall so there is available parking. It has ample seating and a casual yet elegant feel to it, and lots of folks solo dining. However, the food was very mediocre. I will preface that I did pick up my order 20 min. after it was ready but I was still disappointed. -Papaya salad had a very odd aftertaste I couldn't put my finger on. -Pad Thai tasted fine but was way too greasy and the sauce wasn't sticking to the noodles due to the oil. The chicken was also very low quality and probably had been frozen for a while. -Fish cakes were good, but I probably wouldn't order again. I did see a lot of people have curry dishes that looked delicious in the restaurant so if I return, I may try a curry dish instead. The prices are a little more affordable here but I probably wouldn't order the items I did this time around.

Kanda Thai Cuisine is located in the Nordic Village Plaza along Midway Drive in Point Loma. From the outside the suite looks big, but the interior was not as spacious as I had imagined. Parking was reasonably easy as the lot is rarely completely filled with vehicles. Having eaten here previously, I decided to get some food to-go as I was passing by the area. The Spicy Noodles with beef and mild heat (three on a 1-10 scale) was my choice. The pan-fried rice noodles included basil leaves, scrambled eggs, garlic, onion and bell peppers. The spiciness was tame just as I had asked so that was fine. The portion size was good, however the price has significantly increased over the years from inflation and the pandemic. This item used to be $10.95 a long time ago. At one point, this business offered discount coupons which I don't think they provide anymore. The menu prices also differed if you looked at the Yelp listing compared to their business website compared to the hard copy take-out menu. Overall, I gave this restaurant a three star rating for the price, quality, and quantity of their Thai cuisine.

There was one other table dining in while we were there. Food took FORever.... Tom kha took 27 mins. 43 mins for the yellow curry and 50 mins for the pad Thai. We also got ginger tea and barely drank them because they tasted like packaged powdered ginger teas with tons of sugar. The Tom kha had okay flavor but had a weird smell. We weren't fans of the chilli oil added on top. The yellow curry also had okay flavor but was very watery. I thought the mix of actual chopped large pieces of carrot mixed with frozen little pieces of carrot was weird. The pad Thai was alright but nothing special. There was no music. Very quiet awkward vibes. Food wasn't great and took forever so no we wouldn't go back. Was not worth it.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I wanted to share my experience dining here with my family…read more The evening started off great. The staff was friendly when we arrived, we were seated quickly, received our drinks promptly, and our food came out fast. The music was enjoyable, the ambiance was nice, and the restaurant had a modern, welcoming feel. Most importantly, the food was excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious, and my kids couldn't stop talking about the crispy pork belly. Honestly, the food itself was 5-star quality. The issue was what happened as the restaurant approached closing time. About 10-15 minutes after we started eating, a staff member brought our check and asked us to pay even though we were still waiting on two mango sticky rice desserts that had not yet been served. I politely explained that we hadn't received all of our food yet, so it didn't make sense to close out the bill. The desserts were brought out shortly afterward. A different employee then returned and again asked us to close out the check, assuring us that we could continue eating while they finished closing. Although I was hesitant, I paid and explained that I would leave a cash tip after we finished since we were still dining. Unfortunately, from that point on, the service noticeably changed. No one checked on our table, our water glasses were never refilled, and the staff seemed focused on cleaning around us. The booth behind us was being cleaned very loudly while we were still trying to enjoy our meal. It made us feel rushed and unwelcome, and honestly took away from an otherwise great dinner. When I asked for containers for our leftovers, the interaction felt cold and standoffish compared to the friendly service we received earlier in the evening. My suggestion would be that if the restaurant is close to closing and doesn't want guests dining in, they should clearly communicate that and switch to takeout only. The food was genuinely delicious, and I would come back again--but not near closing time. Great food, disappointing end to the evening.

We were lucky and were able to grab the spot right out front. For drinks we each ordered a cocktail. We ordered 4 dishes to share, the wasabi scallop ceviche, crispy baby crab, braised beef panang, and crab fried rice. The ceviche was definitely one of my favorites. Super flavorful, fresh, with the perfect amount of wasabi. The crispy baby crab was savory and easy to eat, especially since you're eating the whole crab, shell and all. The curry in the braised beef panang was so addicting, I couldn't stop eating it. The crab fried rice was tasty and filling. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were fresh and sweet. Overall pretty standard but still yummy. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. All the food came out in the timely manner. The vibe of the restaurant is casual but can be a little dressy for a nice date. Overall I definitely recommend a try here. I went with one of my girlfriends tonight at about 5:30 PM. We were quickly seated. I ordered a mango lemonade, which came out quite fast and was beautiful. It tasted pretty good too. I asked the server for recommendations on the menu, but she seemed startled by my question, like she was not used to giving recommendations. The two items that she did recommend didn't really sound appealing so I went with Pad See Ew with mock duck. That's one of my go to dishes at a Thai restaurant. I asked not to have any spice level added to my food, but the food came out and was just generally lacking flavor. It was very bland and even though there was a generous portion of vegetables in the dish the mock duck was super mushy. All the places I've ever been to it's sautéed crispy. Also, the the noodles were all stuck together. Like if you put noodles in water to let it boil, but you don't stir them and they just boil like that in a clump. The restaurant was very cute inside. I would be open to trying it again just because I've heard so many good things that I can't believe this is their standard experience.

When we ordered, our server took the time to explain their spice scale (1-5), letting us know that a 1 is already about a medium spice level. We settled on mostly 2-3, but wow--the Thum Khao Poon (shredded green papaya salad) still packed some serious heat! Even my spice-loving kids were challenged. The server also gave us a heads-up that it's very fish-forward in flavor, which we appreciated and happened to love. The absolute standout of the meal was the Nam Khao Tod. It was hands down the family favorite--crispy coconut rice with pork sausage, crunchy peanuts, fresh herbs, and so many incredible textures and flavors in every bite. We could have ordered a second plate! We also had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which were slightly oily in the best possible way, making them extra rich and delicious. The Chef's Special Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork was another winner. Our server brought over a chili vinegar that elevated the crispy pork to a whole new level--it was so good drizzled over every bite.
