We ordered to go and it was very quick. The papaya salad comes with romaine boats on the side making it easy to eat on the go. It was refreshing with a kick of spice. The spicy noodles and pad see iw were delicious and a decent sized portion. Slice levels are 1-10 offering personalization for every taste preference. The mango curry was also yummy, featuring plenty of mango chunks, a balanced curry profile and a nice variety of fresh veg. The Bad - the Cashew Veg seemed like it came from a different kitchen. The sauce was way more watery than expected, which could hVe been overcome if the thin sauce had any flavor but unfortunately it did not. Also, the vast majority of veg was cabbage and there were multiple types of veg that did not look very fresh. Conclusion - While I was glad to find decent roti near me (without making the 1.5 hr round-trip trek to Carlsbad), the price point here was not great ($11 for 2 roti - - even worse value at $7 for one "dessert" roti aka regular roti piece with small side of canned condensed milk) and its hard to overlook the big miss with a standard dish like cashew veg. read more

We love pure Thai. We come once a week as a tradition. I'm convinced their tom kha soup is the best in town. Plus the people who work there are super sweet. We have a somewhat complex special order and they are so sweet about it and always get it right. I also find that I really like their chicken meat. I can be a bit picky about chicken and like theirs a lot. It's well trimmed and never too chewy. I also like that the inside is cozy, although we mostly do take out. I have been going to Pure Thai periodically since I moved into my neighborhood a few years ago. Pure Thai isn't the closest to home of all the Thai restaurants around, but it is definitely of of the better choices around. This review doesn't have many pictures, as I have only gotten takeout, and often brought it to a family member's home to share. Through the years, I have tried several curries, a few noodle dishes, Larb salad, Tom Yum soup, and a few of the appetizers. When I walk in, service is friendly and the restaurant is clean. I am not a fan of the small, awkward parking lot, but typically, street parking is free and easy for a short period of time. I like that you can specify spice levels when ordering online, as I am a fan of spicier Thai food. They have a few interesting dishes that are not as common. The other night I decided to try the Avocado Curry. It was an amazing veggie forward curry (I added protein) with lots of sliced avocado on top. My cousin had requested Drunken Noodles, a typical Thai dish, which they didn't have on the menu. However, they do have several other noodle dishes to choose from. All in all, despite not having dined in, I have always enjoyed my dinners from Pure Thai. read more

I think frequently dine-in customers might be overlooked in restaurants like this one that get a lot of takeout orders, but the servers were very friendly and attentive! Service was definitely 5/5! It was my first time trying Khao Soi (the curry noodle soup) and the Thai version of lettuce wraps. The initial flavor bomb of the soup was amazing (though it got a little too rich for me at the end). The lettuce wraps were delicious; it had more mushroom umami than what I am used to with the Chinese version of the dish. However, despite being super saucy and wet, this had ZERO flavor!!! It tasted like instant pad thai you would get in the ramen aisle at the grocery store. I was not impressed. I ordered shrimp as my protein and it was very chewy and overcooked. The noodles were undercooked. Fresh spring rolls (1/5) - the peanut sauce had a weird after taste to it, and the rice paper was harder almost like the rolls were left in the refrigerator. Ingredients were fresh, order was ready exactly when they said it would be, packaging for to-go was perfect, no spills and piping hot even after a 15min drive back to the hotel. I got a level 6 spice (slightly above medium) and I would call what I got a 3 or 4. I do not see this as a negative on the place though. Heat levels are truly subjective and I get that it's better to be a bit more mild that to overwhelm someone. I'm a big fan of their balance of spice though. It wasn't just a bunch of chili flake or oil tossed on top of it, but rather properly seasoned during cooking. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more
