Love this place! Came in to the restaurant today. I have ordered from Pure Thai on DoorDash many times before. My favorite is the Pad Woon Sen with shrimp. So light and flavorful. The fried rice is stellar too. Pure Thai is great for vegetarian eaters. Pure platter is also a winner with a variety of fresh and fried appetizers for $19.99. Pro Tip: Show them your Yelp review for a free Thai iced tea!

Cashew veg - sauce too runny, lacks flavor
Wendy G.

Came for the roti and left with a mixed impression. The Good - they have multiple types of Thai style roti, and I enjoyed the peanut sauce and veg dice accompaniments. The mango curry was also yummy, featuring plenty of mango chunks, a balanced curry profile and a nice variety of fresh veg. The Bad - the Cashew Veg seemed like it came from a different kitchen. The sauce was way more watery than expected, which could hVe been overcome if the thin sauce had any flavor but unfortunately it did not. Also, the vast majority of veg was cabbage and there were multiple types of veg that did not look very fresh. Conclusion - While I was glad to find decent roti near me (without making the 1.5 hr round-trip trek to Carlsbad), the price point here was not great ($11 for 2 roti - - even worse value at $7 for one "dessert" roti aka regular roti piece with small side of canned condensed milk) and its hard to overlook the big miss with a standard dish like cashew veg.

We love pure Thai. We come once a week as a tradition. I'm convinced their tom kha soup is the best in town. Plus the people who work there are super sweet. We have a somewhat complex special order and they are so sweet about it and always get it right. I also find that I really like their chicken meat. I can be a bit picky about chicken and like theirs a lot. It's well trimmed and never too chewy. I also like that the inside is cozy, although we mostly do take out. Grateful to have this place in our community! (And be sure to finish out with a donut next door from a Christy's!)

Drunken noodle with tofu

Pure Thai is located in a little gas-station-sized plaza alongside a donut shop and mexican place right off the main road. It's my friend's go to in the Point Loma area for years. We were seated quickly on a Friday night and it was casual but comfortable dining. My friend's pad see ew was good, flavorful and how she always likes it. I got the drunken noodle which had a higher spice level. Not too bad, but when I ate the first tofu piece it was a little cold-just on that piece. And although the heat level was a noticeable mild-medium I felt that the flavor of my noodle was not as noticeable as I would like. Otherwise I had no complaints. The veggies were fresh, service was chill, and pricing acceptable.

Thank you staff for creating a pleasant dinner experience for my partner and I first visit. As a vegan, I enjoyed the food & options to choose from! Great place for vegans & non vegan diets to come together. The interior is clean & well decorated too. The overall price is reasonable for amount of food!

My new favorite Thai place! I got medium spice number four, but I probably could've handled number five spicy. The service was excellent. The portions were huge, but I did come after lunch. I could only eat half of the soup and like five or six bites of the noodles I've got a good dinner waiting for me tonight. Ambience was chill. I highly recommend.

FRESH SALAD ROLLS WITH TOFU

Went here after visiting the library and it was a delight. Lots of tea choices. The thing I was most excited for was the sarong shrimp. They didn't have it listed in the appetizers, but they had a picture of it. This menu item is near and dear to my heart because I would order it when I was a child at my local Thai restaurant. Most Thai spots don't make it because I think it is a pain in the butt to do. Anyway I ordered it and the noodles were thicker than in the picture on the menu, but still delightful. I also ordered the fresh salad rolls with tofu which were filling while fresh. The table ordered Tom Kha soup, and I appreciate that you can tell them on a scale of 1-10 how spicy. My friend ordered the pad see eew and it was fine, but nothing to write home about. PAY WITH CASH for 5% OFF!!!!

COCONUT SHRIMP

I ordered for delivery and was a little worried the food would be soggy and cold but it wasn't! The flavors in the protein for the lettuce wrap were so good! The mushrooms added a nice earth taste and great texture. The coconut shrimp were fried perfectly and season well.

They have a super easy online ordering system right at the table which makes things convenient. We ordered the spicy lamb biang biang noodles and the non-spicy beef pulled noodles, and both had the perfect chew and incredible flavor. We also ordered the garlic green beans, but they came out so late that we were already completely full from the noodles, so we took them to go. Thank god we did, because they turned out to be pretty salty on their own and really needed to be paired with white rice at home. Overall, an amazing spot for authentic noodles! Something I didn't love though, you order and pay through the online menu. Considering you leave a tip I don't fully understand how it works when we did this whole process ourselves. I also noticed other tables getting plates and bowls which we had to ask for. Overall, I felt the servers weren't too friendly either and seemed to rush through our table despite them standing around not seeming too busy. The food was excellent though! The soup had a great spice to it and super flavorful. The beef and onion was so juicy and addictive, the green beans were good too and had a slight kick to them.

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice. Oodles by the Noodbar has such a large and diverse menu so I would highly recommend coming in to try them out.

At our most recent visit, we ordered three takeout dishes. - Wonton Noodle Soup: (4/5) was OK. The noodles were a bit clumped together, this dish is probably best enjoyed in restaurant. - Fried Shrimp Lettuce Wrap: 5/5 the star of the show, incredibly crispy and juicy shrimp. - Pork Fried Rice: 3/5 was OK. The pork was a bit tough and the rice lacked uniform flavor between bites. My takeout experience was overall 3 stars out of 5. The big winner was the fried shrimp lettuce wrap which I will 100 percent get the next time I am here.

Me being born and raised in San Diego without ever trying it almost felt like a crime. I finally decided it was time to pay a visit. We came with a party of five. The seating setup was a little different from what I expected. We ended up at a long picnic table style booth that we shared with another couple. It honestly was not an issue since there was still plenty of space. It was just a different concept for me. The servers were super friendly and bubbly. They moved fast too. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles, Fresh Spring Rolls, the famous Spicy Garlic Wings plus the Korean Beef Short Ribs. The Fresh Spring Rolls were good. They were filled with shrimp, thinly sliced pork, lettuce, vermicelli noodles, basil plus bean sprouts. The peanut plum hoisin sauce definitely carried them though. Add some of their chili sauce into it too. Delicious. Now for the Spicy Garlic Wings. I know everyone raves about these, but honestly, based on the ones we got, I feel like I would rather have Wingstop. They were really dry. I even asked a friend who has been here before if that was normal. Apparently they are usually not like that, so maybe we just caught them on a bad day or they spent a little too much time in the fryer. Either way, they had definitely lost a lot of their moisture. The flavor was there, but the dryness made it hard for them to really stand out to me. My favorite was easily the Korean Beef Short Ribs. They came out sizzling over caramelized onions with a generous amount of marinated meat. Great flavor. Great texture. Delicious. This was probably the one dish I would order again without thinking twice. The Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles were fine. The noodles were a little too bouncy and chewy for me. They almost tasted slightly underdone. The grilled beef had great flavor though. Once everything was mixed with the fish sauce, it came together much better.
