Crichton was a complete lifesaver for us. When our initial DJ decided to cancel on us 2 months before our wedding, we reached out to multiple DJs, and Crichton was the one who stepped in and decided to graciously help us out. Then, 1 month before our wedding the Honolulu mayor came out with the new gathering restrictions of maximum 25 outdoors. We were heartbroken. We told Crichton that we wouldn't need dance music because no one would likely dance, but he assured us that he could get a party started. OMG, he was right! The music the entire night was spot on. He played everything we wanted, the timing of the music was perfect, and he was able to get our families dancing like nobody was watching! I like never see my family members dance, but he was able to create such a fun and positive vibe that everyone felt comfortable dancing. Crichton and his team at The Perfect Wedding DJ's are the real deal! Our wedding journey wasn't the smoothest since it was originally planned for 2020 when the pandemic hit and we had to postpone the entire thing (until 2022) but Crichton was super flexible and accommodating for us and we are so grateful for it! From the very first consultation call, Gabe and I hit it off with Crichton immediately! He was very personable, friendly, and helpful! Admittedly, we were a bit sad when Crichton himself wasn't available for our rescheduled date two years later but we completely understood. After speaking with his team member Chris who was going to be handling our music for the wedding/reception we felt comfortable with him too and assured that we were in good hands! Looking back, a helpful tip I'd recommend (if you're a bride using them for your wedding) is not to spend too much time thoroughly compiling a song list for the dancing portion of the evening. I think that we might have spent too much time on ours though we probably didn't need to. They played all of our key songs for our program during the ceremony and reception which is the most important thing though a lot of the songs we put on our dancing list did not get played which we were a little bummed about but what was played was totally fine. We didn't get the chance to meet our emcee until the day of the event but he was FANTASTIC! Our guests loved him. He was super funny and friendly. Not to mention he kept our guests entertained the whole night through and his improve jokes were so on point! We had a slightly challenging wedding with a few pre-ceremony events in various areas of the venue that needed sound. We also had professional musicians in the family who had recorded music to be played during the ceremony. Everything was set up perfectly and the sound quality was top notch. Crichton knows how to walk the fine line between announcing and keeping everyone in the party involved, and not letting the day become too focussed on the MC. We have had multiple friends comment after the wedding as to how good our DJ's music choice was "not one song was skippable." He even went above and beyond before the ceremony and moved some items that had been left from underneath the tent out of the way of a passing rain shower. If Yelp allowed 10 stars, I would give 10 for Crichton! Crichton was the very first vendor we booked (really!) even before the venue and wedding planner. I was even willing to change my wedding date around Crichton/PWDJ's availability lol. (I was dead set on booking him after he threw an epic party at a family member's wedding a few years back.) Fast forward, we had to cancel/reschedule our wedding 3 or 4 times due to COVID. Every new surge, lockdown, and variant was disappointing because it meant another reschedule. Crichton and his team stuck with us, and they were so reassuring throughout. Due to gathering restrictions, our wedding was ultimately 50 guests instead of 250. Nonetheless, there was lots of love and great energy thanks in big part to Chricton/PWDJ. He is so funny, so natural, and has a great "local" vibe that our guests loved. Everyone wants to be friends with him. What I love is that with Crichton it's more like a talented/funny friend or family member is MC-ing your wedding. He has an easy, likable, infectious personality - it's something you can't teach and you won't find it in any other DJ. His humor is clean, but super entertaining and on point. Crichton and his team were also prompt, professional, and expertly set up their equipment at our venue. Crichton will take the time to get to know you as a couple ahead of time, and he'll get a sense of your music vibe by having you fill out an excel-type sheet of what sort of songs you want (and don't want). Our theme was "Through the Decades", and he played all of the hit jams from the 60s to 90s. The Perfect Wedding DJ's are exactly as they say they are, PERFECT! They were able to get everyone in our wedding dancing! They played our dinner music playlist just as we gave them, but the real magic happened once the dancing began! When we gave them our dance music playlist, it was 100% EDM that our older guests probably would have no idea. Instead, the Perfect Wedding DJ's mixed new and old music better than we could have suggested which got literally everybody dancing! They really gauged the demographic of our party well and threw in some line-dancing, hip-hop, and other era music that we could have never suggested on our own (its hard to remember old song names!). WE LOVE DJ CRICHTON!! From the moment we spoke to him on the phone, my wife and I knew right away that he was hands-down: the fun, authentic, enthusiastic, professional, local vibe we had been looking for. Then, when meeting with him in person, we had the best time getting to know each other, and jammin' out sampling some of the music we had chosen for our ceremony and reception. It is clear that he genuinely loves what he does, and his radiating positivity energy is so infectious. DJ Crichton and his team perfectly executed everything we had discussed, and also went above and beyond, everything from being set up and ready in both ceremony and reception locations with time to spare, equipment and lights were fantastic, the enthusiastic emcee moments were excellent and on point (I thought his joke was hilarious), and I haven't even mentioned the dj-ing yet! The most important thing for my wife and me was that we have a DJ that can truly read the crowd's energy, play our playlist requests, flawlessly spin/cut/fade-in tracks etc, and avoid our do-not-play list.....AND DJ CRICHTON BEYOND NAILED IT!!! From the exact second the dance floor was open for dancing, it was entirely full with people dancing their behinds off and singing their hearts out throughout the night, down to the absolute last note to come through the speakers at the end of the night! We had (and still have!!) the biggest smiles on our happy faces, seeing our guests, of all ages and walks of life, dancing like there was no tomorrow, and we owe that to the perfect party/celebration tone set by DJ Crichton and his team. Idk how to explain how DJ Critchon did at our wedding. He did more than extraordinary. If I could make this review 10 stars I would! He made sure that EVERY.SINGLE. PERSON HAD A GOOD TIME! I never got to meet him until our wedding day and the MOMENT I MET HIM, he already made me feel like he was part of my family that I never knew we had lol! That just shows how welcoming he is and how comfortable he is with people. He took my wedding to ANOTHER LEVEL and with his witty personality really did make the crowd laugh and not only that, he helped me with combining a soundtrack that I wanted to use for my father and daughter dance!
