They have several display cases and it is an open concept workspace, so I think you get to see everything being created. (I was there at an odd hour so it was just one staff member who was very helpful). I purchased 6 or 7 different kinds of cupcakes - everything from my favorite chocolate with vanilla frosting only with an adorable Halloween decoration, red velvet, carrot cake, apple pie (with apple filling and lattice work on top!), almond joy, and chocolate peanut butter. Oh my word! Incredible! Icing is perfectly balanced, light & fluffy. Decadent without leaving you in a complete sugar coma, unless, of course, you can't stop with just one. And then the macarons! I got one of each. Perfection! They had little crisp when you first bite into them and then they end up melting in your mouth! I can't wait for my next excuse to go back!

They had trays of cupcakes in the display case and one cake. Because of the single cake, I wonder if the cakes are all made to order. The cupcakes looked really good so I bought three of them. The lemon one I ate was very fresh and tasted good. The kitchen area was quite big and they were busy preparing things. There was a separate room just for ordering wedding cakes. Their web site claims they make chocolate but I didn't see any on display. Overall I was pleased with my purchase and will return.

But now that I know they're in Salem, I'll be visiting very soon! The macarons were front and center in the booth, and I kept goggling at how beautiful they were. They are slightly larger macarons with generous fillings and bejeweled shells ($3.75 each). I asked the person manning the booth what her favorites were (sugar cookie and cookie dough), but I still had trouble deciding which to try, there were so many unique flavors. She was very helpful though. Macarons are generally gluten free, but some flavors had cookie or cake crumbs and were labeled as containing gluten (fyi all served in the same case). These macarons were certainly not dairy free, but I decided to try them anyways; they were way too tempting. The Tall Man and I ended up getting a guava and a gingerbread macaron. His dad got a pistachio and a cosmic brownie (typical brownie vs the peppermint version). If I had known he was going to get some, it would have made more sense to get a half dozen. Macarons aren't cheap cookies, but they were certainly worth it. The guava was the plainest in appearance and taste. It wasn't decorated, and only the shell was flavored not the cream; it was too subtle and could have used a jam. The gingerbread was my favorite of our choices, spicy and not overly sweet with a nice textural crunch with the mini gingerbread sprinkles. The cosmic brownie had fun chunky sprinkles and a very fudgy texture, which was more brownie than macaron like (probably intentionally), but the taste was like a typical brownie so I would get something different next time. I didn't get to try the pistachio, but my father in law enjoyed it, and he doesn't even like cookies. Everything on display was beautifully fun to look at. I was also intrigued by their hot chocolate bombs and cake jars, but more as eye candy since they were full of gluten and dairy (but would make for great gifts!).
