This is the best dive shop on Kauai. Their prices are great, much better than other shops. Their service was spectacular! We went in for a dive knife and a speargun. The owner was very helpful and didn't make us feel like dummies for not knowing a thing about spearfishing. All in all they where great! And they have a beautiful pup! read more

Straight forward pricing, family run and friendly people. So many businesses to rent from in the area and after much research we decided to rent here. That decision was a very smart choice. They have a few parking places in front of the store and there is street parking as well. Parking could be a slight challenge in busier times but still worth the minor challenge. We only rented bicycles but I did look at some of the other rental gear. Just like it has been mentioned, they rent quality equipment and not tiered levels and varying prices. Great place for beach rentals! We rented snorkel sets including mask, goggles, and fins for $6/day ($15/week). The owner was really friendly and helped us fit them correctly. Also rented a Johnny Bahama chair which was quite nice and includes cup holders, built in pockets, a towel rack, and backpack straps. Totally worth it for $5/day (I don't remember the weekly rate but I'm sure it's a great deal). Return times are flexible and they won't go after you if you're a few hours behind schedule. They also rent a ton more stuff. Will definitely recommend to others. read more

Wonderful service and great prices. We only had an afternoon to try and catch some sights and we were able to get great, clean, perfect fitting gear and a bunch of suggestions on where to go. Even though it was close to sunset, we were able to make it to the suggested beach, catch a quick snorkel and see a whole load of beautiful fish, and it didn't even cost over $15 for two. So glad I skipped the other two shops down the street to come here. I had a brand new snorkel from home that kept taking on water so I figured I'd buy a new one. Mike carefully looked at my snorkel and gave me his expert opinion and detailed instructions on how to clean it and saved me from buying a new one! I ended up renting one from him for a mere $3/day in case my cleaning didn't work and found out his rentals are from 9 am to 5 pm THE NEXT DAY! Over a 2 week period in June of 2014 my son, his pal Chris and myself rented and purchased all sorts of gear from this shop: boogie boards, bicycles, swim fins, scuba tanks, dive masks, etc. All the gear is in very good condition and well-maintained. Their prices are very competitive (you won't find lower prices for quality gear on Kauai, period). Additionally, Mike and his wife were extraordinarily helpful in providing us with information on the best places to boogie board, snorkel, eat, scuba dive, etc., etc. They're just plain quality people and go out of their way to help you make the most of your time on Kauai. read more

My wife and I were looking for a place to rent snorkel gear that wasn't Snorkel Bob's (or any of the other chain stores) - and picked this place based on the Yelp! reviews. Mike (the owner) got our gear together- then recommended five or six places to snorkel based on the weather they were having... and I can't tell you how valuable that was. Hawaii is beautiful. It's wild and it's amazing. It will also kill you if you don't know what you are doing... so having a local who had assessed the conditions and told us where to go based on what we wanted to see and where the visibility would be best was invaluable. read more

Worked with Mike and he helped us pick out a couple cruisers to ride the bike path which is directly behind the shop. We only ended up doing about an hour (possibly slightly over) and he gave us the hour rate of $10 for 2 bikes and a lock! The bike path has really nice views and a nice breeze from the ocean. We drove 45 mins to get here and found it worth the time, something fun and scenic to do. My husband and I visited Kauai in April of 2012 and rented both snorkels and bikes from Kapa'a Beach Shop. They were really friendly and helpful and had great prices to boot. We rode our bikes down the bike path on two different days because it was so much fun. Renting a snorkel set for the week we were there was such a great idea - we just threw it in the trunk and grabbed it whenever the water looked good for snorkeling. Saw tons of fish and turtles. This place has friendly staff and good prices, but many of the bikes are severely lacking in maintenance. Exchanged three bikes over 24 hours. First bike had a loose bolt clamp for the seat that would drop mid-ride. Exchanged this for another bike which had loose handlebars. The third bike lost the stripped bolt holding the pedal arm. Bike fell apart two miles into my ride. Had to walk the broken bike home and return the following day. Be careful of the equipment that you checkout. read more

We rented 2 boogie boards and 2 snorkel sets for the whole week for $62 bucks! The gear was comfortable and we even got to choose between 2 different kinds of fins. Skip the other 2 "big operations" and go straight to Mike. He was genuine and took the time to make sure everything fit right and the kids understood how to put everything on. $15/week for a full snorkel setup is an awesome deal and it is really good gear... not the crappy stuff that they try to bait and switch you to pay $40/week for the "good gear" with at the other 2 operations in town. Another big plus is mike does not try to cram timeshares down your throat the entire time, like S.B's and B.F's. read more

$10 to rent a nice 3-speed beach cruiser for the day with a bike lock. They tossed in baskets as well. There is plenty of parking near the public pool and park off of Kou St... Walk past the coconut cruisers and Chicken in a Barrel. The location is near the center of the 5-mile long beach ped/bike path. This has some great views of the coconut coast. We were referred to this shop by another couple staying at our hotel. Last year in Maui we rented snorkel gear from Bob's ... or whatever that chain is called. Their coupon said $9 for the week but that was for terrible year and once upgraded it was quite a bit more. This place was $15 for the week per set and they were quality sets! They also rent umbrellas which was great for my fair mainland skin ;) The owner was VERY informative on areas to snorkel on the island & I really loved that we were supporting a local 1 man business. Amazing service and even better pricing! I actually came from the bike rental place next door. They charged $18 for a single cruiser while KBS rented TWO 3 speed cruisers for $15.60.
