I've been thinking about the Iskander Platter from Kapadokia Grill ever since I had it for the first time here. So on a whim my husband and I stopped in for lunch. We didn't even need to look at the menu because we both wanted the Iskander Platter. Lucky we came in when we did because we got the last of it. Since having it the first time, I've watched a few recipe videos on how it's made. It's quite a process and takes a while so it's understandable they can't just make more quickly if they run out. This time it had a little different flavor than the last time. It had a saltier flavor and not quite as buttery as I remembered which was disappointing since that was the best part for me. It was still delicious but I was happy for the yogurt that helped cut the saltiness a little. Possibly the sauce became more concentrated since it was the end of the batch they had. I could only finish half because it's such a large portion but my husband finished his. The service was super friendly as always. The owners here are so lovely and always attentive. It was my first time trying their Iskender. It was fantastic! Pitas cut in bite sized pieces, Doner kebab also cut in small pieces and topped with a savory tomato sauce that is a flavor bomb! Hot melted butter is drizzled over the top to make it the dish rich and savory. A scoop of yogurt helps to balance it out and a wedge of charred tomato and bell pepper garnish the dish. All served in a long clay dish. This dish is not always available but it is on the menu. If it's available I highly recommend it. It's a bit indulgent and I couldn't eat it every day, but it is unique and delicious and the best Iskender I've ever had. read more

We were traveling through the area and stopped in for a quick bite., The babaganous (eggplant dip) was among the best I have ever had. All the food was fresh and healthy. I miss the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern options that Greensboro offers, though Winston does have some nice Greek choices, and a new Middle Eastern/Mediterranean spot has opened - Hummus Kabob and Grill, with some interesting offerings - Chicken Mandi, Haneeth, Kebbah, & Lamb Shank. I have tried several items here including the Iskender Kabob, the Kebbeh, and the Mezza Sampler. The Iskender Kabob is not a classic kabob, but rather more of a flat bread construction. It was created by Iskender Efendi in Bursa, Turkey in the late 1890's. It remains one of Turkey's most popular dishes, and is much liked in Germany. Pieces of pita (pide) are the base for the dish, then some of the hot tomato sauce is added. This is topped with thinly sliced beef donor, then more tomato sauce is added, and then a good amount of melted butter is poured on - the butter (traditionally sheep's milk butter) is often infused with paprika or red pepper flakes. A dollop or two of good yogurt is on the side. This was a good version of this very popular Turkish dish, close to authentic, though the tomato sauce is a bit weak, and the melted butter was not a sheep's milk version. This is a good change of pace item, but frankly I still prefer the classic kebob on a skewer! read more

Good place to try - a bit out of the ways coming from north Greensboro, but definitely worth the trip. Best dish - we all liked Lamb Shish platter, lamb was fresh , tender and flavorful. Salad was refreshing. The doner shish was a bit dry , but good flavor. We tried Kibbeh - seeing food recommendations on review. It is really good. Crispy outside and soft inside. Goes well with the sauce. I tried the combo - because I like lamb but try to cut down on red meat. The chicken was surprisingly, grilled the chicken would usually be dry. The mezze are my favorites, though: creamy hummus and baba ganoush, spicy feta dip, fresh zesty tabbouli. And the falafel are perfection - crunchy outside, soft inside. TL;DR: Goooo! NOW!:) This place...wowza! Impressed me in the BEST way. For years, I've been hunting for an authentic, delicious, and affordable Mediterranean-style casual restaurant that feels like home. Growing up in Europe, I've struggled to find restaurants that come close to the many amazing experiences I've had with Mediterranean food overseas, especially with doner kebab. I was delighted to see it listed on the menu and was impressed with how it was prepared once it arrived. Everything about this little gem of a place is fantastic, starting with the welcoming owners and staff. Sabina and Sinem (pictured) were so friendly, kind, informative, caring, and easy to talk to, and the brief glimpses of the kitchen magicians drew an even clearer picture of the love and passion everyone here pours into the food and service. I immediately felt like part of the family. I took a chance by visiting this restaurant on a brief day trip to Greensboro, and I'm SO GLAD that I did. This is my new food haven anytime I'm in town moving forward. It was really special, and with me celebrating a small personal achievement on this day, it was perfect for the occasion. As far as the food, I had the doner kebab platter, which came with rice and salad, plus the baklava and tea. EVERYTHING was fabulous. I literally felt transported back to Europe when having my main course, delicious Kapadokia sauce (tzatziki style), the tea (OMG!). And the main star of the show: the baklava...HOLY COW! I've never been a huge baklava fan, but THIS baklava was to die for. All 3 kinds - chocolate pistachio, regular pistachio, and walnut. All 3 were DELICIOUS! There's complimentary coffee and tea when dining in, and even a sugar alternative for those who need it (I used Splenda). And the menu has plenty of options on it. Parking is free and there's quite a few spots right in front of the restaurant, and the seating area is quaint. Enough for multiple visitors and at least 1 or 2 larger parties. I was traveling to Atlanta from Virginia and decided to stop by this restaurant. I ordered the protein platter with chicken and lamb as well as a side order of hummus. First off, let me be clear that Kapadokia Grill is a fast casual, order at the counter, choose your own seats and serve your own fountain drink type of restaurant. There is no alcohol available. With all of that said, this is a MUST try restaurant. Their food is phenomenal. It is all fresh and filled with amazing flavor. Four of us tried it out and went for a large family meal in order to taste a large portion of the menu. All of what I list came with the family meal. We chose four small plates (mezzes) and opted for hummus, dolma (stuffed grape leaves) spicy feta, and tabuleh. The star was the spicy feta. It has a modest kick that enhances its unique rich flavor. The tabuleh was more green onion forward than most I have tried, yet this version was bright and aromatic. The dolma and hummus were both well balanced and tasty. The salad that came with the meal was a refreshing and vibrant Mediterranean salad with a smooth, not overpowering olive oil dressing. The main course was a huge platter with 3 chicken shish kebab, 2 lamb shish kebab, 8 oz doner kebab, 10 kofte. (Rice and pita bread rounded it all out) All the meats were marinated, juicy and seasoned beautifully. All four of us were blown away with the quality and flavor of the food. Not one element fell flat. They serve Halal if that is important in your cuisine choice and they offer pickup and delivery; however, I believe your first taste of Kapadokia needs to be in person with the food right out of the kitchen. Decided to come here as we were craving something turkish/greek. It is a small mom and pop shop, and it is packed. Not so much so that you had to stand and wait, but enough to tell that there is a constant flux of customers. When you first walk in you look at the menu and order before seating which is different from regular restaurants. After we picked our food and paid, we could sit anywhere we would like. The service is fast. Was seated for maybe 15 minutes before our meal rolled out. We had ordered a family meal and it came with sauces, pitas, rice, a salad, and a variety of meats. 5 solid stars. I have driven by this place multiple times and I am kicking myself for never stopping. I walked in unsure of what to try. I planned on just grabbing take out. The man behind the counter gave me some Turkish oil to rub on my hands, it smelled heavenly. I peeked into the dining area. It was super cute and pretty cozy place to dine in. I planned on doing take out, but quickly switched to requesting dine in. I enjoyed listening to the Turkish music. Customer service is top tier. They had fountain drinks available. The chicken pita was absolutely amazing. I had this same meal at a different restaurant and this did circles around them. The chicken was tender. The lettuce, tomato and sauce was a great ratio and the bread was divine. The fries were sooooo good. When I was finishing up, the nicest woman offered me double boiled Turkish tea. I'm a big fan of lamb and a good homemade hummus will send me to the moon. The owner is so sweet and such a nice lady! She helped us make our choices and we felt right at home. I ordered the lamb pita with a side of rice -- everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made from scratch. You can really taste the care and love that goes into every dish. The staff was outstanding -- friendly, accommodating, and transparent about preparation times, which I really appreciated. Kapadokia brings a unique twist on traditional Mediterranean food with its Turkish inspiration. They offer many dishes that cannot be found at your typical Mediterranean restaurant. They operate through counter service but also bus the tables when you're done. Sabina is very friendly and offers great customer service. There's a cold case for drinks and a selection of baklava to choose from as well. I particularly enjoy their wide selection of mezzes to choose from. If you're visiting with a group, I would recommend the mezze sampler so you can try 4 different mezzes! My two favorite mezzes are the spicy red feta and the beetroot tarator. I was hesitant to try the beetroot at first, but it has grown on me a lot over time. The shaksuka is a great vegan option as well! The cheese rolls are another delicious appetizer that I would recommend. It's similar to a mozzarella stick but wrapped in filo dough as opposed to battered, which allows it to be a little lighter. Of the platters, the doner is what I've had most often. It is quite filling since the platters come with a side salad and rice. The salad is always fresh and perfectly dressed, and the rice is very flavorful. The most interesting dish I've had at Kapadokia is the iskender, which is composed of sauteed pitas layered with tomato sauce, yogurt, doner, and grilled tomatoes and green peppers. read more
