A fantabulous Middle Eastern restaurant right in the middle of the city. There are so many nice places in Greensboro, so I had high hopes, and I was not disappointed. The hummos is the best you'll find anywhere (with their special za'atar spiced pita chips). The baba ghanouj is the best I've ever had. The spinach pie and cheese pie are terrific, as well (two of my favorite things). I still need to order some of the larger plates -- they all look great. I'm very slowly going through most of the menu. They also have fancy bottled sodas -- which go really well with the food. The service and the folks who run the place are very kind and friendly. I just wish I had more of this wrap cause it was good. But a good portion if you want something that doesn't feel heavy. House-made hot sauce- not too spicy, packs a tiny punch, but keep it on the side if you're sensitive to spice. I have wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time. I finally went and I;m kicking myself for not going sooner. The owner and staff are super nice. The hibiscus tea is amazing. I ordered the lamb burger special (with feta cheese and fries). I ate the whole meal. I}the burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were delicious. I don't eat fries a lot, but I ate every single one. The dining area is very cozy and there is an outdoor area. They have a water station and items for sell. I will be a regular. I was working in Greensboro and a friend recommended we eat lunch here and I am so glad we did. Oh, I can't wait to go back. I have to say I didn't expect that much out of a Middle Eastern place in Greensboro NC. I arrived to find the ambiance surprisingly Christmas-y (I guess there are Christians from that part of the world). Their menu promises local organic vegetables. Getting a falafel sandwich yielded a texturally magnificent creation with a thin, yet soft laffa wrap, fresh falafel, and abundant greens that certainly tasted local and organic. With the optional hot sauce and onions, it was a thoroughly flavorful lunch. Adding fries was a good decision as well, as theirs are skin on with a bit of seasoning. The hibiscus tea I asked for unsweetened, and probably would have been better if I'd sweetened it, but I'd had enough. If I were rating the bathroom, I wouldn't give them five stars. However, the reality is that I'll tell the reader the same thing I told the people working here: I just visited Jerusalem for the first time recently, and if you'd handed me this food there instead of at Jerusalem on Elm in Greensboro NC, I would have said it was great. read more

Upon entry, you'll see a drinks and dessert case and minimal seating, but don't let that dissuade you: there's a more spacious dining room in the back. It's low-key but tastefully appointed. Jerusalem Market's menu offers platters, salads, mezze (small plates), and wraps. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well as lamb/beef/chicken options plus combination plates for those who want a little bit of everything. You order at the counter and take a number back to your table. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I went with the Armenian wrap, which featured basterma (thinly sliced seasoned dried beef), provolone, baba ganoush, and cucumber yogurt with zaatar pita chips on the side. My wife was hoping for the Turk (similar but with sojouk sausage instead of beef) and upon finding they were out opted for the lamb burger on special instead. Given the day's humidity, hibiscus iced tea seemed too good to pass up. Jerusalem Market makes everything fresh, so the food understandably took a bit to arrive. However, it was well worth the wait. The basterma was salty, and the refreshing yogurt balanced it nicely. The zaatar chips were crisp and full of flavor and dangerously addictive (seriously, I could eat a bagful). My wife enjoyed the lamb burger with feta and a side salad, and we were both glad that we went with the hibiscus tea (free refills). While they may not have the huge portions of a Nazareth Bread, Jerusalem Market's prices aren't unreasonable given the downtown location. The wrap was $14 or so and the burger $16. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. Which is what we did. We were travelling and found this on Yelp and decided go out of our way to stop by to get a "to go" order for the road. It was a Wed (before Thanksgiving) and there was one person in the place. After we ordered, she said it would be 15-20 mins to get the food. It took almost 30 mins. My bride ordered the Chicken Wrap ($12) and I ordered the Shawarma Wrap ($12). The pita wraps were super thin (never seen anything quite like it)....which made it a little more challenging to eat. The taste of the meat was just fine. They asked what we wanted for our side....we selected cucumbers (they gave us multiple options)....they were just plain cucumbers....no seasoning at all (and they ended up charging us $.50 when it certainly sounded like it would be included in our selection). read more

The man behind the counter was incredibly welcoming and helpful--he listened to what I was in the mood for and helped me navigate the menu to come up with the best option. Every tweak we made came out exactly right from the kitchen. I appreciated the extra care he took packing my drinks--he placed my cup of water and iced tea in a 4-pack holder and even wrapped them in saran wrap to prevent spills during the drive home. That kind of attention to detail goes a long way. The falafel itself was flavorful, the hummus was pretty darn good, and the homemade hot sauce had a nice kick and a great flavor. They have a variety of goodies to such as baklava and date pastries as well as delicious chocolate candy bars and a selection of wines to try. I live very close to their original location out toward Sedgefield, and it's always a tasty place to stop in for fresh food. That said, I was meeting my pop for lunch in downtown, and we both decided to give this place a shot. It's a great cafe downtown with an excellent location, situated on Elm street with several other choices. The food is made fresh to order, so unless you order something served cold, just keep in mind there's a 15-20 minute cook. This is not something I mind of course. I ordered the Armenian wrap, which is beef tenderloin with provolone, baba ghanouj, yogurt sauce and spices in one of their flatbreads. Comes with Z'atar chips, and I added a small cup of hummus for an upcharge. Personally. I'd like to see hummus come with those chips as part of the price, but it wasn't too bad. For a downtown cafe serving high quality food, prices here are reasonable. The flavor was definitely on point! Texture was excellent too, from the doughy pull of the flatbread, to the creamy sauce and baba. It was great. The Za'tar chips were crispy and spiced nicely. Dipping in the hummus, great combo. I had water to drink, but keep in mind all other beverages are bottled or canned. Dad got a nice fresh salad, chunks of feta and a chicken kabob and also enjoyed it. I had the Jerusalem plate, a terrific selection of appetizers that was just perfect as a meal: a spinach pie whose filling was the exact amount of tart you want from sumac surrounded by crispy-soft pastry, a satisfying pile of hummus surrounded by cucumbers, two perfect falafels and crispy zaatar-dusted pita chips for dipping and textural contrast! The cafe had a great free live band the night I was there: super interesting, jazz standards with a pedal steel player thrown into the mix. In particular the tabbouleh and the falafel were some of the best I have ever tasted. We also got the Feta dip, which was also great.
