    lamb shank (mouza)

This place absolutely nailed it again! I ordered the lamb shank mouza and it was the kind of dish that makes you slow down mid-bite because your brain is busy filing it away as "new comfort food." The lamb was fall-apart tender--rich, deeply seasoned, and cooked the way lamb should be: flavorful all the way through, not just on the surface. It was a foodie's heaven, and it paired perfectly with the fragrant rice, which was fluffy, aromatic, and clearly made with care (not the bland afterthought rice you get in too many places). The shish tawook was just as impressive--juicy, char-kissed, and marinated so well you could taste the citrusy, garlicky brightness in every bite. It had that ideal balance: smoky edges, tender center, and zero dryness. I'd order it again on its own without hesitation. And the hummus? Smooth, creamy, and legitimately craveable. The flavor was clean and bright, with that perfect lemon-tahini balance, and it tasted fresh--not like something scooped from a tub. It was the kind of hummus that makes you keep "just one more bite"-ing until it's suddenly gone. Overall: generous portions, bold flavors, and that unmistakable "someone in this kitchen truly cares" feeling. If you like Mediterranean food even a little, this is the kind of meal that turns into a repeat stop.

The food was delicious. I really loved the limonada. It was delicious and frothy. So good. The service was slow but I honestly wasn't in a rush. The gentleman that served us was nice and helpful even brought us baklava for my friends for free. I would suggest for them to hire a couple more people but its a fairly new place so I hope they do well. I will definitely go back.

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised with this place to be honest. I came in with very high standards having lived in Toledo and Cleveland comparing it to my favorite spots in Detroit, Dearborn, Toledo, and Cleveland but it was actually pretty good! The portions are generous and the food tastes good, that's a fact. The chicken shawarma platter was good. The chicken itself was absolutely delicious but the dish as a whole was a little dry without any sauce or anything. The side salad is mediocre as they always are but no complaints there. The kafta was really well seasoned, it just didn't have the same level of juiciness and char as the best I have had but the seasoning was spot on. The rice was great. Our biggest gripe was the 7.99 hummus appetizer. The hummus itself surprised us, it was actually really good! Great smooth texture even if it lacked a tiny bit in flavor. Definitely the best hummus I've had in town though. What got us is that it says it comes with pita but it doesn't, it's fried pita chips which was super disappointing! Would I go back? Actually yes. Despite some small drawbacks, it 100% scratched the itch for good middle eastern food and I think did it justice. I would go back to get the chicken shawarma as a sandwich instead of a platter cause the chicken itself was SO GOOD. I think the pickles and garlic sauce etc. would add much needed moisture to the mix and really be good.

I would recommend based on the food only. Both of our entrees were good. We had a salad and side of hummus, both were a little plain. The chicken shawarma was tasty, even though it was dry. I had to request some halal sauce. The flavor of the charred chicken was delicious. The service and atmosphere were fine, nothing special. I am willing to try this place again, but would be inclined to get it to go, pass on the salad and hummus.

Finally! Middle Eastern food in Winston Salem! I am giving this place 4 stars because I see the potential but I will say we had a few issues during our visit. I won't focus on that because the flavors once we actually got the food were delicious. We got the chicken shawarma pita which was delicious although we were told it came with fries it did not. We were charged $4.99 for the amount of fries you see on the platter. I found that to be a bit pricey for 15 fries lol. But other than that it was great! We got the Mazza platter which was also fantastic- lots of great dips. Loved the hummus and my mom loved the babaghanoush! The tabouli had lots of fresh herbs and was very good as well. Our waitress was very kind and there are nice touches of middle eastern decor. We went the second week they opened but will be trying them again!

Glad to have some kebab options in Winston! They had quite a lot of options to choose from - which we appreciated! The meat was crispy / charred (in the best way) and flavorful, the sauce hit the spot and balanced the flavors out. I think more vegetables would balance out the dishes- for example would've loved to have some fresh veggies along with the fatter shawarma and the kofta kebabs or to dip the hummus in. But all in all - good flavor and very quick service! I'm curious to try their other menu offerings! There is a 3% CC charge just fyi!

Worst food in town . bad customer service .I could not eat this Shawarma was awful

Worst food in town and worst customer service ever. I could not eat this Shawarma so I tried to talk to the chef he was super rude and offended, so I didn't really wanna argue with him. I just paid and left. Trust me do not go there. You will lose your time and you'll stay hungry and go eat somewhere else.

    Mix grill with extra skewer

Fantastic food and service . Also the atmosphere is unique. Food was tender and well presented

I opted for to go and the food held up well to my 15 minute drive home. The falafel was hot and fresh and I got the chicken and steak over rice. I could have used a little more sauce but it was very flavorful and seasoned well. The protein was thinly sliced and it was a large portion. I ate some for dinner and lunch the next day and still had some left over. The environment is very calm and casual and would be great for a working lunch or lunch with friends. I'll definitely be back.

Aladdin's Shawarma! How can you resist a restaurant with a name like that? LOL Aladdin's is conveniently located on West Market Street. Easy to find and easy to park. When we walked in, I felt like I was in another country, and I mean that in a good way. There were many families from foreign countries speaking different languages. In that the restaurant is halal, there were many Muslim families there as well. Always a good sign when ethnicities are eating at local restaurants of their own cuisine. The place was pretty full. I ordered the Arabian salad and added chicken and Sally ordered a mixed grill plate. Her plate was expensive but plentiful. Mine was expensive for what I got and quite small. I was disappointed, although it was tasty. I could tell Sally felt bad for me that my portion was so small since she shared some of her dinner with me! I am still struggling with how expensive everything has gotten in restaurants, and so I tried to take it all with a grain of salt when I am comparing a price with the portion, but in this case it was hard for me to justify over $15 for a small salad with one small skewer of chicken. So as far as atmosphere, location, taste of the food and service, it was all excellent. I just could not help but wonder if they could have given me more food for what I paid. It made me feel like I might have been better off eating at home or going somewhere else for a better value. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, or I need to accept that everything is much more expensive and portions are getting smaller. In either case, if you are looking for authentic Middle Eastern food in an authentic Middle Eastern atmosphere, Aladdin's Shawarma deserves a visit. I might consider trying them again, but ordering something else. I left hungry!

I first discovered Odeh's when it was deemed the favorite restaurant by our local Yelp ambassador Erik and they had just a few tables in a small space with just counter service. Since then they have grown to add a larger dining room, table service and expanded their already delicious menu. There is nothing bad here and you can find something for every taste. I usually go with some sort of chicken dish but my husband has tried many of their other favorites and has loved them all. The portions are generous and I usually leave with a container for the next day.

Craving something Mediterranean, something international and authentic. Shish House popped up on my radar and I stopped in for an early weekday lunch. They have the usual and traditional Mediterranean dishes, but I wanted something different today. Went with some authentic Yemeni food. I ordered the Fahsah Lehm. This is a Saltah (traditional Yemeni stew) with melt in your mouth lamb that came out piping hot and bubbling in a clay bowl (see vid). You can feel, hear, smell and taste the authenticity in this dish. Spices and flavors flowing all over. It comes out with an amazing garlic sauce and a Yemeni style green sauce, almost like a salsa. And if that wasn't enough, you get the biggest clay oven bread (a Yemeni Malawah) you have ever seen. Words don't do it justice, see pics for details. This is honestly the perfect edible shovel. Tear some off, scoop up some bubbling lamb and spices, then drag it through the garlic and green sauce. Get messy...flavor the authenticity this dish explodes with.
