Fantastic beach for the little ones. The beach area felt incredibly clean and safe. The area is by all the nice resorts (like Disney) and golf course so it's a little farther away from Waikiki. To get in, there's a parking entrance. You can either stick to the right and I believe that's free parking. Alternatively, you can go straight and do paid parking. It's all day parking for $22. We opted for this option since it was quicker and we didn't wanna wait in line. The lagoon area itself has a locally grassy area. For a beach it has very clean restrooms. The beach itself is pretty small, but the water is very shallow and tame. Our baby who is 13 months old had a fantastic time. Highly recommend it will be coming back to this beach with our child in the future. read more

Hot soup, garbage tourist trap, is literally the only way I can explain this. We got there and it looks beautiful! The water is a beautiful shade of blue. You get closer and the water is blue and...white? White because of all the people soup...and sun screen...you go to walk into the water and there's little debris and tiny pieces of trash in the small waves washing up to shore. My daughter put her snorkel on and went in. She couldn't see a thing! And I couldn't see her!! She was 4 feet from shore and when she went in with her bright neon bathing suit (for safety visibility reasons) SHE DISAPPEARED - that's how murky the water is. I was so grossed out when I tried to wade into the water we immediately left. read more

This is our favorite lagoon. The water is so clear you can see the bottom even as you get deeper (the deepest probably only goes 5-6 ft). We have seen seals a few times and see fish in the deeper area every time (sometimes in the shallow too). It's clean, has bathrooms, sometimes the shave ice is open. It is busy though so plan to wait for parking unless you are willing to pay for the paid parking area. read more

All of their lagoons have always been one of my favorites. It's family oriented, man made beach and not too too crowded. You can walk over to Monkey Pod for lunch or dinner and stroll through Four Seasons and Aulani Resort. Tip: must arrive early for parking and a spot. We came on a a Friday, not a holiday. Kids are still in school and there was no parking, there were lined up cars waiting for others to leave. It's a hit or miss kind of situation. What a beautiful beach lagoon! I came here solo for a beach day and had such a wonderful time! It was very quiet, clean and comfortable. In this area, there are 4 lagoons- this one is at the end and had less foot traffic then the rest. I heard about this lagoon from a page on Instagram and how it's a great spot for families with kids and they were so right! We came on a Wednesday around noon, and got parking right in front which is super convenient because we didn't need to lug all of our stuff far away to get to the beach! They also have bathrooms and showers here that aren't too far of a walk either. It wasn't packed and the waters were perfectly calm for the kids to enjoy without being pushed by the waves constantly. The grass was well-kept and it was a nice spot to have a picnic if you can score a spot in the shade. This was one of my favorite spots during this trip and definitely beat going to the beach in Waikiki! read more

Ko Olina is our favorite beach whenever we're back home. The beach is clean and the water is clear and calm for our two year old son. We particularly like going to Lagoon 4 because it's less crowded with more parking spots compared to the other lagoons. Parking is free but it can fill up fast so I recommend trying to get there early as possible. We came here last Tuesday as a large group with our family. Everyone had so much fun. We brought snacks and drinks and just lounged around while watching all of our kids play together and swim. We sat near the rock wall too which the kids loved to explore and climb. My son had so much fun that he didn't want to leave even though he was shivering in the water at one point. We absolutely love this beach! It's so much better for our son compared to going to Waikiki or Ala Moana. We will continue to keep coming back again and again. I recommend! read more

Shucks! Word is out. The lagoons are the place to come. The combination of massive grassy areas to picnic and / or veg and the kid friendly waters lull tourists AND locals out to play here. Given any weekend you find huge families coming out with their coolers, picnic blankets and chairs all over the grassy areas. Tents are NOT allowed as well as any hibachi grills. Important to note: there are NO lifeguards at any of the lagoons so swim at your own risk. I've been coming to these lagoons now for the past 20 years and as of late I am finding trash in the water. Just yesterday I pulled out a full spool of fishing wire, an ice bag, plastic bags, rubber seal, plastic caps from plastic water "bottle," and the plastic holder for six-pack drinks. All that in the span of one 4 hour outing. I've never seen this much trash in the water and the shore before. Ever! The grassy areas are pretty clean. On the weekends the trash bins are overflowing. But this is really just seen on the weekends and holidays. This is still one of my favorite places to take family and friends to but quite dismayed at the amount of trash in the water and beach. read more

My grandkids were off for during break so we took them here to enjoy the day. We left a little later than I had wanted and got there about 1045. I was worried about finding a parking. We lucked out and got the last stall in the parking lot. I think there's a lot where you can pay but luckily I didn't have to use it. The beach is very good for people with kids. With the break walls there are no waves and very little surge. The beach is covered with sand in to the water. The water gets deep very gradually. The one thing I don't care for is that it is very windy. Not sure if that affects the water temperature (I doubt it). I would say the mix between tourist and local was probably 75% to 25%. Definitely one of my favorite beaches. read more

In our effort to snorkel all over Oahu our family spent the morning at the Ko Olina Lagoon #4. It was ~30 min drive from Honolulu. We arrived around 8:30am (30 mins after opening) and the parking at lagoons 1-3 were already full. Thankfully lagoon 4 still had parking even though the sign in front of the gate said "parking lot full." The water in the lagoon area was very calm and would be great for younger kids. We snorkeled for a while and there are some fun fish to see. After a few hours we decided to pack up and explore more of the island. It would be easy to spend a day here checking out each of the different lagoons. #4 is the smallest and there is a nice paved path connecting all the lagoons. read more

So just found out that this has free parking! A nice quiet lagoon where it wasn't too crowded at all. You have plenty of room on the beach to relax or go swimming in calm water. The only real downfall (literally) is if you don't enter the beach by the sides you have to jump anywhere from 1 to 2 feet down from the grass. They have a shower so you can rinse off after you get off the beach. Note: no lifeguard on duty Another note: Adult fish take their children's education seriously because I saw a school of fish....(I'll see myself out now, your welcome for the Dad joke.) read more

It's beautiful and peaceful, water is steady-no big waves. I always stay on the shallow side tho, I don't go far away from the sand. Water is clear and you will find small silver fishes swimming around the shallow waters, so pretty. They do have a parking space but it's really small!You just have to try your luck to find one when u get there. read more

I have to start off by saying I just stopped by to check it out before we left. It was later in the day and it was super windy. There was plenty of grass for picnicking and sand for sand castles. There's also a bathroom there. What I didn't like was there was a lot of foam. Not sure what that is but I wouldn't go in there with it. It was so windy, it flew my way and landed on my foot, lol! Lagoon 4 at Ko Olina has free parking, grassy areas for picnics, outdoor showers, and restrooms for the public. Although there are not any lifeguards on duty, the water is mostly calm and shallow for a majority of the time. The parking gates close at sunset (you can drive out but no new cars are allowed in). Lagoon 4 in particular has the most free public parking stalls along with a paid parking lot nearby for marina usage. I believe the paid lot has a day rate of $15. Ko Olina has lots of staff making sure that all of their facilities are well maintained. Since it's in a resort area, the vibe is very safe and curated. This is a great spot for families because of the calm, enclosed, waters. Even if you don't know how to swim, this is a great body of water to wade in. If you bring googles, you'll be surprised how many fish are swimming around in the deeper end. I always bring my mainland friends that don't know how to swim or are novice swimmers here. It's a great "starter beach", as we call it. The huge grassy area is perfect for picnics! I love grabbing take-out in Kapolei and bringing a blanket or towel to sit on. There are also really great restaurants choices in the area if you feel like grabbing a bite or drink. I wouldn't say this is where the locals go, but I do appreciate the accessibility that locals do have to the Ko Olina lagoons. read more

This was my first time in the Ko Olani area. At first it was a bit confusing as we were trying to determine which entrance would take us to the public access beach. There are a lot of resorts along the road and small access roads. There were signs too but, nothing specified the public access. My gps was spot on and took us to Lagoon 4 (I just put Ko Olani beach in the gps). We arrived there early, about 0830-0900 so there was ample parking. The parking spaces are numbered so I assumed they were paid spots however, I did not see a parking meter. About 1000, other beachgoers started arriving, and about 1100, the parking lot got full. There were cars lined up at the entrance waiting for someone to leave so they could park. The reef that encloses the lagoon serves as a protective barrier from large waves (and large sealife, I assume). The lagood is fairly shallow and has a level of safety for young children. The water was a bit chilly until the sun came out, the sand is the larger, cream coloured particles (not like the fine white particles that gets everywhere). But, it was good nonetheless. I enjoyed Ko Olani and will be making regular visits. read more

Best place to take your little ones. Crowds are much less than downtown at Waikiki Beach. Parking is free. Shaded areas near the grassy areas. 2 showers located on each side of the lagoon and 1 restroom facility. Visited here 2x during our week visit. There are 4 separate lagoons at Ko Olina and they are all open to the public. We only went to one of the lagoons which appear to all be identical. Parking is crazy. There is a small parking lot with about 100 spaces which are all full. Cars must wait in a line for someone to leave before parking which could be anywhere from one minute to 30 minutes. There is another lot right next to the public lot which is empty but blocked off! It seems like the resort wants to purposely limit the amount of people on the beach by limiting parking. The lagoon itself is beautiful and warm since it is shallow. There is no boogie boarding or wave surfing of any kind because the water is waveless. Going beyond the rocks blocking the cove could be treacherous. While driving into the resort there is a small shopping center with all kinds of groceries and small eateries including a Starbucks. Make sure you bring everything with you, because there are no shops at the lagoons. Enjoy! read more

Walk to the right of the lagoon and into the grass area towards the ocean for a rocky area to watch the sunset. Hawaiian Monk seals occasionally will come and sleep here for days/months at a time. LOVED it here! It's a perfect beach for families with little ones. Out of all the beaches we've been to in Oahu, this one was the best. Lots of grassy areas to chill on, there are no strong waves so you don't have to worry about your little ones in the water, plenty of free parking, and lots of shady areas under the many trees they have. This beach is on the west side of the island. We weren't very fond of Waikiki (where our condo was).. there weren't much to look at.. it looked and felt a bit dirty and ghetto. Next time we're on Oahu, we'd probably stay around this area.. hopefully in the Disney resort, Aulani, when our son is a bit older to enjoy all the water slides, etc. ^_^ Anyways, we're sad we couldn't spend more time here.
