The doctor pulled my eyelashes that grow in toward my eyes. He actually got them all unlike the previous doctor.

It is obvious from the moment you walk in that this place is something special. It is a beautiful facility and the waiting room is fantastic. Don't get too comfortable because in my experience you won't be in it for long. I was promptly taken back where a detailed exam was performed on my eyes. The entire staff was super nice, very professional and highly skilled at what they do. I saw about 3 different technicians with each one doing a different part of my exam. Then the Dr came in and did his part of the exam and he spent a lot of time giving me options on glasses vs reading glasses only etc. I felt that this was a very good exam by a first class group of people. There is a huge difference in this and a typical walk in glasses dealer that makes it feel like you are at a fast food place. This is the opposite of that experience . Very dishonest and deceptive people. They refused to assist by reading the prescription of an old pair of glasses for a disabled client who cannot walk into the store. Of course they can easily read the prescription and did read it, but refused to write it down or give it to us. This is done purely for the reasons of wanting to make money. Our entire family would have used this place for eyeglasses going forward but after driving an hour each way to visit, greed won the day and they refused to help. No person in my family will EVER use any doctor associated with this practice... not now, not 50 years from now. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Megan Kortum. She is extremely friendly, caring and knowledgeable. She takes her time explaining her findings and makes sure the patient leaves understanding the diagnosis. The entire staff is easy going and they make you feel like "family." Dr. Kortum even had a receptionist call to make sure I was able to get the medicine I needed for my eye. Great Doctors and staff! Unfortunately, they made the decision to no longer accept vision Insurance which caused our expenses to triple. We couldn't justify spending that money when we pay for vision insurance and all 4 of us are in glasses/contacts. read more

I hadn't found an optometrist since I moved to Chattanooga, so I just picked a name out of the approved list of doctors on my insurance plan. I made an appointment and a couple weeks later was on my way into the office. I was quickly greeted and invited to sit down and fill out my first visit forms. As soon as I was done, I was ushered into the next room to begin my tests. Soon, I was seated in front of Dr. Robert McGarvey. I enjoyed my visit with Dr. McGarvey as he is not the kind who rushes you along for his next patient. He took the time to get to know me and we spent several minutes discussing common interests. Then it was down to business and getting me into the right contacts. For years I had been wearing the same old contacts day in and day out.... Dr. McGarvey suggested a change to a different product and I can see so much clearer and better! My eyes don't get as tired as they did with my old contacts either. The change was a great one for the health of my eyes. A couple weeks after my visit, I got a standard "form" thank you letter, which was then personalized by Dr. McGarvey. He mentioned what we had discussed early on in my visit and was looking forward to hearing how my new contacts were working out for me. Had an appt at for my 10yo daughter. Got her out of school. I live about 30 miles from the office. I ran into unexpected traffic on the way there. I called to let them know I would be about 10 mins late due to traffic. The doctor wouldn't see my daughter. He wanted to reschedule. I was shocked! I don't see how 10 mins would have made that much of a difference. Very bad customer service in my opinion. read more

This office is an amazing example of what it means to serve others! They office space and clean and organized. Their staff is so sweet, attentive, and goes above and beyond. Dr. White has the experience and patience to work with others with intellectual disabilities and that is so important to our family. My brother has Down syndrome and he does several tests to make certain that Tra is getting the absolute best and perfect prescription he needs. We discovered Kapperman & White when the Creative Discovery Museum had free screenings for Kindergartners. It was suggested that we schedule an appointment for her at the office. We arrived, filled out the necessary paperwork, and were promptly seen. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the visit and even found a frame within our budget from her favorite television program. I recently scheduled my own visit and was just as pleased as my daughter. Dr. McGarvey, who saw both me and my daughter is very friendly and knowledgeable. This is my first review of anyone and I hesitate in writing this one. I went to Dr. White because of a recommendation from a friend. I paid a premium price for the eye exam because they did not take my insurance, and also paid a premium price for lenses (No Frames) I have prisms in my lenses which can be difficult I know. They made the lenses twice and they were not correct, my vision was about the same as the day I first came in. After all this the last time I came in they charged me another fifty dollars bringing the total of my investment to about six hundred dollars for exam and lenses. After all this, I left KWM with only what I came in with, I spent six hundred dollars for absolutely nothing and was offered no monetary consideration at all. Am I angry? Yes, I am on a fixed income, and I was told if these guys can't fix it no one can. They have your money and you have no recourse. Please pardon my punctuation. read more

The staff here is exceptional. Fortunately, there was a cancelation and I was able to get an appointment the next day, which is pretty much unheard of for a new patient. Dr. Mcgarvey and his team discovered a medical issue that I had, and called my primary care physician to get me an immediate appointment there when I was unable to. Dr. Mcgarvey even gave me a followup call after hours to make sure everything went okay. I will never go anywhere else! read more

I know most of us brush off going for a yearly eye exam. The staff at Kapperman & White is great. With a lobby packed full of patients I only had to wait 10 minutes. Pay the extra $40 to have the pictures taken of your eye instead of the annoying drops they use for dilating. I had never seen anything like it before. I have been to several eye doctors in the past and this office is by FAR the best I have ever experienced. Every staff member I encountered was polite, courteous and patient with me. Even when I got a bit freaked out by the eye pressure device, the technician gave me ample time to regain my composure.
