I needed a lock to be picked (standard 5 pin door knob lock). The dispatcher was friendly and quoted me a price of $79. With the 10% Yelp discount, that would be just over $71. 30 minutes later, the locksmith arrived (Michael), who asked if I would be paying cash or card. I said card, and he said the lock would cost $95. I told him that was not the price I was quoted, and he said he could only do $80 cash (still more than the original quote). He said he couldn't go any cheaper because "I have to make a living." I was upset that he had raised the price on me. He sprayed the lock with WD-40 and used his lock kit for about ten seconds and it was open. I told him I would pay him $75 cash, which is still more than I should pay because of the Yelp discount. He claimed he had no cash on him to break my $10 bill (which I don't believe), so I gave him 2 ones and $3 in quarters. He came into my house and tried to shake me down. He picked the lock. Normally, I hate call locksmiths as they take forever to get to your location and they take a while to get back into your car or home, and they're super expensive. My friend who lives in Silver Lake locked herself out of her apartment, so we had to call a locksmith, and seeing the great reviews of Kardo Locksmith, we went with them. Best thing we ever did. The locksmith's name was Leo, we told him the address and he knew the building, showed up in 20 minutes...seriously!! I timed him. Not joking. Came to the apartment with his tools and got into the apartment in less than 2 minutes, he changed the old lock to a better one and one that really match her door color. I couldn't have been more pleased with Kardo -Locksmith service. I was out of town on Easter Day and received a call that a pipe had burst in our apartment and that the fire department had to break into our place.
