I have always played basketball. I have always preferred organized basketball opposed to pickup street ball at the park or the gym. When I go to other gyms I'll wait up to 2 hours for a single game. Or when I go to the gym during rush hour I can never hop on a free treadmill. Here at pickup it solves all those problems. There's rarely people working out at this gym but if there is it's only about two or three people using the area. It's always clean, always smells good, always the perfect temperature in the facility. But the pride and joy of this gym is the Pick up basketball games. From 6-9pm during the week and early mornings on the weekends there are pick up games with referees and practice jerseys for everyone. Each game is ten minutes and sudden death overtime usually caused by a free throw. Yes there are free throws. Last ten seconds of the game every foul sends you to the line. It really is the best gym money has to offer if your a basketball player. If your a parent with kids wanting to join the game. They now have a youth league from 6-13 years old. They have skills camp for the kids and personal one on one training as well.

They rotate the sport cycle so basically your kid gets to do all 4 major sports, for him its: Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, then Football in the fall. He loves it. They also have girls sports. I love the coaches and the kid coaches (mostly high schoolers from their Arcadia campus private HS helping out ) It is Christian based and they do have a bible study type of team meeting once per week. I don't love the big fundraiser at the end of the school year, which includes mandatory selling of 150.00 worth of circus tickets, but at least we are not peddling chocolates all year long. I guess I can handle one big one.

The front desk employees are great, especially Savannah. Most of the people have worked here for years and years and it shows. A lot of members wipe down equipment themselves, but the facility still needs consistent cleaning from the staff. For a gym that has this many members coming through every day, basic cleanliness should be a priority. I like the location and the equipment, but management really needs to do a better job maintaining this gym. Right now it just doesn't feel clean the way a gym should.

All said, I'm glad I found this pool and won't have to drive to Rosemead Aquatics for my weekend swims. I'll come back and will just put on my clothes over wet swimsuits, cover my car seat with a tarp, and just drive home!

The bathroom and the shower areas are clean and orderly. There is not many free weights and the bench press machines are very few. All the machines for all of the normal stuff like leg presses and curls and bench press and the like are all very very old. Most of them are broken or have the weight machine broken to the point where if you put her on 20 pounds it actually has a force of about 100 or more making the machine totally useless. If you go to any other Planet Fitness, you'll find many machines this place has only one of each so if someone is using the deltoid machine, it's the only one around. The same with the leg press machine and the ab machine. I go there in the mornings because I get there early, but you have to be choosy on which machines that you will use.

This is definitely the smallest location I've been to in terms of square footage and equipment, but it didn't feel too crowded. I feel like equipment is limited for weightlifting machines, but I was here for cardio so there were sufficient machines for that purpose. Also just as an observation, the cardio machines here do not have individual tv screens compared to other locations. They do have large tv screens with a few channels to watch. Plenty of clean up stations for you to wipe down the machines you use. Planet Fitness frowns upon the grunting and bro-intimidation, but this location had some dudes grunting and being loud and obnoxious with their work out. I would have liked if staff said something to them. I would only come back here if I'm already at Club Pilates and I wanted to further my work out. If I was going to a Planet Fitness for a full work out, I would want to go to a location with more equipment so I don't have to wait on others for the machines I like.
