The produce section alone was worth it with stacks of fresh fruit and veggies everywhere and good competitive prices for everything and even samples available to try. Very helpful when it came to deciding whether the cantaloupe was worth it or not. I would even argue that the produce is better than at the Jewel AND Whole Foods down the road. The store is well-kept and clean throughout. The bakery, meat and cheese departments and the hot food/salad bar area are great. They have several made-to-order options that looked good and worth trying. Some of the standouts were the broasted chicken, pizza and sushi. For such a fresh looking assortment of dishes to be available at 1pm was a big enticement to come back to grab something for lunch next time I'm in the area. As far as grocery options I would be surprised if you couldn't find what you were looking for in such an expansive store. This is especially true when it comes to the huge variety of international cuisine options. All of the workers I had interactions with were friendly too.

My husband shops there at least three times a week, which says a lot about how much we've relied on it over the years. We genuinely like this store, but lately we've noticed a decline in the quality of the produce. Things like tomatoes appearing shriveled or, at times, even moldy. It's disappointing, especially for a place we trust for everyday shopping. I also attempted to place an order for Easter dinner, something we've done many times in the past. Prices have increased quite a bit, so this year I decided to keep it simple and order just the lamb. The online system didn't allow me to select the date I needed, so I called for help. That's where things became frustrating. I spoke with Chef Jose, and communication was difficult. I asked if he spoke Spanish, since it's my native language and I thought it might help. His response felt dismissive, mentioning he speaks Italian and other things, but the interaction itself came across as borderline rude and unhelpful. That impression was later echoed by the front desk, who suggested I contact another chef. Chef Doug, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. Even though we played a bit of phone tag, he consistently followed up with a helpful and kind attitude, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this is still a market we want to love. It has been part of our routine and community. But between the recent produce issues and inconsistent customer service, it has been a bit disappointing compared to what it once was. I'm hopeful they find their way back to the quality and warmth that made them our favorite local market in the first place. BTW, one must place the order all the way to the paying screen to be able to select the desire pick up date.

I ordered the three beef taco dinner and my guest had a Harlem Sandwich which was Italian beef and Italian sausage. Both were delicious. They also have a bar area. She went back there and couldn't find it so she asked a few other employees and they said they couldn't find it either. I thought it was odd because the girl told me she had just bought it. At that point I knew they were just hiding it for themselves. The manager on duty said they would get more in a few days so I decided to just wait. Fast forward few days later, I call the store and an employee picks up and I ask if they had it back in stock and they told me in an annoyed tone that they do not carry that product. I told the employee that I knew they carried it because I was in there not long ago and they told me in a rude manner "we have multiple employees looking and they cannot find it". Since I knew where it was I went into the store and saw it sitting on the shelf. This just comes out looking as pure laziness from the employees as well as showing their unwillingness to help and do their jobs. They really need to improve their customer service here.

Otherwise, it is a decent grocery store, about two miles from my home so I have walked there on occasion. I have my prescriptions filled there, and the pharmacy staff has always been courteous. Sometimes, they are very busy. The produce is good, and when it is in season or on sale is a good deal. The milk is a good price. Otherwise, the Jewel can be rather pricey. Eggs, sausage, and bacon are overpriced. I dislike the digital coupons because they force us to be on our cellphones even more than usual. Chronic Lack of Bagging Support For more than three months, I, along with a host of others I have witnessed, have had to bag our own groceries during visits when the front is overwhelmed by more than 2 lines. There is consistently no one available to assist the cashier, or there is a single person attempting to cover multiple lanes. This isn't an occasional staffing hiccup--it has become the norm. 2. Online Order Shoppers Blocking Aisles Another recurring issue is the number of employees shopping for online orders. Their large gray carts are frequently left in the middle of aisles or in the break in the isles at the end caps causing a serious chokepoint, rather than off to the side, creating obstacles and making it difficult for in‑store customers to navigate. Many times, it feels more like an obstacle course rather than a grocery store. 3. Interaction With Assistant Manager Danny When I asked to speak with a manager to share these concerns, Danny initially acknowledged that the store could do better about calling staff up to the front. However, the conversation quickly shifted in an unhelpful direction. Despite never suggesting that online shopping be eliminated, he repeatedly insisted that "this is the way of things now" and emphasized that online orders weren't going away. My actual point--that in‑store customers should not be inconvenienced by poor cart placement or lack of bagging support--was never meaningfully addressed. When I raised the concern that it seemed like the store prioritized online orders over the customers physically shopping in the store (who often spend more per visit), he offered nothing more than a shrug and a half‑smile. That response made it clear that customer experience and retention were not priorities in this discussion. Bottom Line I've been a long‑time Jewel‑Osco customer, but the combination of ongoing operational issues and the dismissive attitude from management has made shopping here increasingly frustrating. I hope the company takes these concerns seriously, because the current approach is pushing loyal in‑store customers away.
