Went in to buy the new Starbucks strawberry refresher base. The app said it was in stock and when I went to check the shelf it wasn't on there so I asked a girl in the aisle and she said she had just grabbed one from the back of store before her shift started so she could buy it and so I asked her if she could grab me one. She went back there and couldn't find it so she asked a few other employees and they said they couldn't find it either. I thought it was odd because the girl told me she had just bought it. At that point I knew they were just hiding it for themselves. The manager on duty said they would get more in a few days so I decided to just wait. Fast forward few days later, I call the store and an employee picks up and I ask if they had it back in stock and they told me in an annoyed tone that they do not carry that product. I told the employee that I knew they carried it because I was in there not long ago and they told me in a rude manner "we have multiple employees looking and they cannot find it". Since I knew where it was I went into the store and saw it sitting on the shelf. This just comes out looking as pure laziness from the employees as well as showing their unwillingness to help and do their jobs. They really need to improve their customer service here. read more

This review is a little "late" but I wanted to give a shout out to the staff at this Osco in Danada. Many times they've gone above and beyond in their service over the years. For example, a few months ago, I put thru an electronic refill via phone. Unfortunately, the particular med was in short supply (at all pharmacies) locally. When I went to pick it up, the pharmacy staff member had me exit the line & wait on the side while she made some calls. She located another Osco in Glen Ellyn who had enough to fill my order! (She was careful to try Osco's closest to Danada first. So, thank you for that!) I zipped over to Glen Ellyn to get the med and it was waiting for me. The pharmacy staff there were very pleasant. A few days ago, I put thru an electronic refill via phone for a med which was out of refills. There's an option for having the pharmacy contact your doctor for a refill. I chose that option and today my med was ready! It's like magic! I've been a customer of this Osco for 22 years and have always had great service. The entire staff is always friendly, professional and really go the extra mile for their customers. This Osco is a real gem! read more

Glen Ellyn location is a little closer but I prefer the Danada one although getting through the parking lot is not so great. Lots and lots of traffic. this store becomes more of a disappointment every time I go. they have been out of whole strawberries since tuesday 11/22 .there was only thick cut Oscar Meyer bacon, they have stopped carrying halal chicken, breakstone sour cream, mids spaghetti sauce. A while ago the checkout person would ask if I had found everything I was looking for, they no longer ask, I wonder why. the more times I have to go to one or two other stores to complete my shopping the easier it gets just to avoid jewel altogether. read more

Deli is good. Good for salads 6.99/lb. but the wines and flowers are expensive. Went for a colleagues's birthday the other day and since I had less time I just bought it. Why would you take something that was working and replace it with something that is horrible? You used to have 4 express checkouts, with one line, and the next person in line would move to the first available cashier. Now, you've replaced this with self-checkouts, and only have ONE express lane, which is invariably occupied by old people who have no concept of what 15 items are. I tried your self-checkout today, even though I opposed them on the basis that they are a job-killer. I hate standing in line for 10 - 15 minutes just to check out even more (I've called customer service to put more cashiers on and also abandoned my cart if it takes too long). Let's just say, your new self-checkout is abysmal and resulted in a LOT of swearing! I've been a Jewel customer all my adult life, and I'm seriously thinking of NEVER coming back! read more

This is one of my least favorite Jewel stores. You say, "Aren't they all the same?" No! This is the most expensive Jewel in Wheaton. It used to be the little Jewel on Willow, but that one is closed, so now this Jewel has the title. This Jewel also has a sucky parking lot. The store is located almost on top of Naperville Road, so during busy shopping times, there can be a backup and you might have to wait through a few stoplights just to get into the parking lot. If it's a busy time, there's also a person directing traffic and let's not forget the permanent cone-like fixtures down the center of the lane so nobody makes a u-turn. The store itself is ok, but doesn't seem as customer friendly as the store in north Wheaton. Their self checkout lanes are much smaller, so unless you have 10 items or less, you need to stand in line and wait for a cashier. I always feel like this is the NO! Jewel. I've gotten lots of nos when asking if they have more merchandise because the shelf is empty, if they can split my deli order into two 1 pound bags instead of making it 2 pounds and many other things. I've avoided the bathroom here after our experiences with the other Jewel, so I can't enlighten you on that. Ironically enough, I used to live near this Jewel. Even then I really didn't like it. read more

My wife went into the store to order a birthday cake. Jewel's website had several cake designs that we liked and she wanted a basketball cake.. But she was told they ONLY do balloons designs in boy or girl colors, that's it. The baker couldn't care, took very little info and scribbled down on a piece of scrap paper what we wanted written on the cake. We weren't even given a receipt to claim the cake later. She was so disgusted with the customer service at Jewel, she went to Mariano's and ordered a cake there. They covered everything, showed genuine interest and even gave her a receipt with all of the details of the cake she wanted. To top it off when she got home and she called Jewel to cancel the order. The bakery hung up on her and when I called back they couldn't even find the order! Jewel's bakery has bored employees doing a lackluster job while refusing to do cake designs that Jewel advertises on it's website. They can't even keep track of their orders. I wonder how often they've had to quickly decorate a cake when the order was lost? This by far the poorest customer service we've seen among the local grocery stores. With all of the new competition in the area, I can see Jewel going the way of Dominick's. There's NOTHING making them stand out as the place to go grocery shopping. read more

Hate some of the sales where they treat customers like their dumb. Buy one pack of ribs, get two free. One pack is $28. Just say we are charging you for three packs. This is one of my least favorite Jewel Stores. It's my fault that I stopped here, I should know better. It was a "convenience" stop. Normally when I'm headed home from an appointment in Naperville, I'll stop at one of the Jewels's there (They are All OK) and avoid this one. The prices here actually seem higher than other Jewels (I like the one on Main and Geneva in Wheaton) and it seems that their stock people (management?) just don't keep up well. This store always seems to be out of what I''m looking for, and really... what's the point? If I'm here it's because Mariano's, Trader Joe's, Valli Produce or Whole Foods doesn't carry what I want. I miss the big ole' Dominick's across the street.. would love to see it become a store to put some fear back into this Jewel. There is often a nasty parking lot bottleneck at the Naperville Rd entrance and unless you want to enter and exit on Butterfield Rd... there aren't many other choices. It's pretty much always treacherous because of the shoppers and the tight car space along the front of the store This store frustrates me, and since I love grocery shopping I need to remember to STAY AWAY from it. read more

Have shopped here for 22 years. I used to love it. Many changes in last couple of years. No longer open 24 hours and pharmacy has limited hours. The customer service is going down the tubes. I will not shop at Jewel on N. Main Street in Wheaton until the store manager is able to impress upon his employees that precautions need to be taken to prevent the spread of covid19. I was in the meat department on Monday morning and the 3 people I saw working in the meat department, 2 men and 1 woman, all had their masks pulled down around the neck, no gloves and were stocking meat in the cases. One of the men had long hair in braids and his hair was brushing against the meat packages in the case in addition to his bare hands. Monday nights they have a chicken special. I have gone to this store three times on mondays and other days nice wonderful pyramid of chicken. No one waits on you. Yesterday they had 20 customers waiting in deli only two people to service them. I waited 20 minutes and 17 people waiting to be waiting on. I then went around the store to see if we could get help. I finally gave up as I was walking out the express lane employee asked me if she could help me, I shared my story, she gets a service manager and she listens to my entire story I am now 45 minutes in the store not one person said hold on... how much chicken you need, let me get this now... I get people listening to me like a therapist saying I am so sorry... jewel I do not need a friend to listen to me I need someone to get me dinner for my family of 5! Why have a chicken special on Monday when it's not easily available? Last time I just grabbed the rotisserie chicken. I love this Jewel. I'm a Wheaton native and it's always clean, the staff is very friendly, and they have most of my favorite stuff. As for the prices, they go up and down just like any other grocery store. Everybody knows that prices overall are cheaper at Target, Walmart (if you can stomach it), and the like. You don't buy EVERYTHING at Jewel; you buy what's on SALE at Jewel. And you use the coupons that print out at the end of your order. They're awesome; sometimes $5 off your next purchase, sometimes 5%, sometimes more. You just have to be a savvy shopper. read more

The Danada store needs to pay attention to the hot bar and salad bar, we turned away because they looked nasty and no one was focused on keeping them up. She was kind of mad and racism she said not selling food for me is protect herself. Well if that help your business so I would rather go somewhere to buy foods not your store. This place his issues, Their Express lanes used to be configured for first-come, first served. This is what CUSTOMERS like. Apparently some poor guy tasked with "managing" the store didn't like that and ended it. Now you just roll the dice and may as well just join any line, anywhere. You ask the cashiers and they all say that "customers hate it but management doesn't listen to us". When I am there, I see customers queue up BEHIND the lines, trying to be fair and implement something reasonable. Cashiers start shouting about how they need to form multiple lines,and then you are there hearing them talk among themselves about how all of us must be "trained" Yes, the cashiers, whether frustrated or feeling intellectually superior (its obvious that either could be true if you are right up there) get on their speakers and tell us the new "procedure". Just so everyone knows - Caputos is 2 minutes up Schmale You have Valle Produce at Bloomingdale and North. Each has everything going for it and is the wave of the future. I can go to a very nice seafood dinner with champagne instead of shopping here. wine, champagne and liquor prices are the worst anything they advertise you have to buy six to get the deal. there is no one to help you if you need anything and nobody wants to help. Next time I will go to dinner instead of making it. mariano's two blocks away has superior service and quality. if you're looking for a better price Caputo's on Gary or main blows this place apart and there is someone in every aisle available to help you. I've always had good experiences here and found the staff to be very friendly to me. My concern is their meat and fish department. When you walk past the fish it always smells fishy and not in a good way. As in not fresh and time to be thrown out. I've bought bad fish from them on three occasions and also have had the same experience with meat and ground turkey. They hold on to their meat to make the most money, but they are going past a reasonable amount of time. I never wanted to go to Whole Foods, Mariano's because of the price but I believe they throw their meat out every night. Their seafood is always fresh. I'm not saving any money going to Jewel if I have to throw it out once I get home. I'll pay the few extra dollars at one of the other places. I love the staff at the Jewel-Osco Pharmacy. They are very polite and patient. As I was waiting for my order to be filled by an employee, the other employees walked by as I stood by myself, asking to make sure that I was being taken care of. And as it gets more busy, they promptly add another person to the register. My insurance information has not been updated yet, but they're willing to hold my medicine pretty much indefinitely until I get the right information. And it's obviously convenient to shop for groceries as your order is being filled, which takes about ten minutes. Hoorah for them! :) read more

Pretty standard Jewel. I usually stop on my way to work for fruit or on my way home for veggies for dinner. It's clean and well-stocked for the most part. Not sure if I am used to my own Jewel but I am almost always confused by the layout and I have a hard time finding stuff. Nice organic foods section, though, including some random yogurt brands that my regular Jewel doesn't have. read more

She actually used the excuse about her cashier "They're 16 and they don't know", and then instead of trying to be helpful, she quoted "company policy". I went there for the first time a few weeks ago. I really only visited the produce department, walked by the deli and bakery and the checkouts. He produce department is tiny. I think they could've shrunk the deli and put more produce selection out. Maybe it was just me but the deli seemed understaffed. I didn't feel like waiting. Good selections for the salad bar but really nothing for the hot food bar. Enough cashiers when I was in around 5pm. A+ experience at the checkout. Parking lot is confusing to get in if coming from butterfield. For my short visit not too bad. read more

I've been shopping at this Jewel since 2003. I like the people there. I do not like the prices they have come to be known for over the last 3 years. I have been going to Super Target for a lot of my groceries, esp. staple items. Jewel's prices are way too high. Who can afford to shop there? Why do the simplest things cost so much more there? I can get milk at Target for at least a buck less than it costs at Jewel and I'm buying 3-4 gallons a week....wtf? They need to lower their prices! read more
