After three…read moredays of not being able to start the RV, but assuring me he would, (did not follow proper fuel priming procedures), he refused to work on it any longer, told me there was something major wrong, maybe lift pump, and informed me I'd have to have it towed and fixed at my expense. I paid for the "service" performed by Clinton, then for tow to Trailercraft. After charging the dead batteries Clinton automotive caused, the mechanic at trailercraft followed the proper priming procedures and started the rv, immediately. I then paid trailercraft for their service. I asked Clinton automotive to split the cost of the tow, charging batteries and starting, which they refused. I thought that was a very fair offer. I am now taking legal action to recover all my costs for their negligence. Beware.

I also wanted a full tune up ( plugs, oil change, all filters changed, etc...) I took it to them in winter so they were not rushed and had plenty of time. We made an appointment and when I dropped it off, they were closed that day. I live 80 miles away. So I left it outside. They worked on it for many days and finally said the problem was it didn't start. Huh? Are they stupid? They tried to charge $600.00 to diagnose and I told them not a chance. I knew all it needed when I took it there all it needed was a carb cleaning or at the most a new carb. I am a mechanic also but didn't the time to work on it and didn't want to. So.... I said just do FULL maintenance and give it back which still cost $450. When I got it back the starter was burnt up and genset didn't produce power. NO FILTERS WERE CHANGED OR OIL. TOTAL RIP OFF. These people should be ashamed of themselves. I put a new carb on and new starter and it runs great. I have heard many horror stories like this. DO NOT USE THESE BASTARDS!!! There is no mechanics that work here. They are wanna be mechanics that can't even do simple maintenance. No qualified help works here, or at least not any with a conscious. Their fancy "CUMMINS NORTHWEST" suits should say "CUMNGETSCREWED". Idiots.

So you are better off going south to get what you want for the price you want. Just don't expect any warranty service from anyone in Alaska unless you have one of the few brands sold here. Even then, you might get the AK Dealer saying: "sorry, we can't service your trailer/toy hauler/5th wheel or do any warranty work on it since you did not buy it from us. If we do warranty work on it, we expect you to pay for us for it in advance and you try to get reimbursed from the manufacturer". Have your purchase inspected from top to bottom, front to back testing all fixtures, drawers, lights, heat/cooling as part of the PDI (pre-deliver inspection). Don't leave the lot until every item is fixed to your satisfaction.

The sales manager later told me they emphasize renting so they can't really accommodate people purchasing RVs. They have several RVs that are 2-3 years old and are new with 4000 miles on them - something really weird is going on here with their lack of customer service - this place is nothing like the lower 48 - buyer beware.

It's blowing cold air, had been blowing warm air when we crossed the Yukon Territory. After trying (and failing) to sort the issue, started calling around to RV service places. They all gave the same scripted answer about checking the propane, even after I'd told them we were plugged in and not running propane. Mike was the first one to actually listen and try to talk me through other possible generic fixes. He finally hit on it when he asked for the make and model of the unit to research any specific issues - turns out it's just an A/C unit and not a heat pump as I assumed. Thinking back to our trek across the Yukon, we didn't use the rear thermostat to set anything so it was just the front heat pump unit working. I kinda felt dumb but I'm so glad and thankful that Mike took the time to listen and work with me.
