This place is the only place to go if you have especially old car/truck. Many other repair shops will not handle older cars. My 33 year old truck needed a motor replaced. They ordered a remanufactured motor and installed. They did excellent jobs with installation and completely fixed any following up minor issues and adjustments. While driving through Anchorage en route to Colorado, I stopped at the shop to get a mechanic's opinion about a weird thud sound happening while turning and accelerating. It was 4pm on a Saturday, and Ali (the owner) happily welcomed me and took the car for a spin to figure out the problem. Ali immediately knew the source of the sound and spent the next two hours working on the car. As a student, I was terrified about a massive bill or a complicated fix required to make the drive south. I told Ali about my limited budget and how I needed to get back for classes in a week, then braced myself for the expected bad news. While I was waiting (on the insanely comfortable couches), another customer/Anchorage local told me that Ali is "brilliant" and that he refers his friends and family there...I soon found out why! Ali is the best. Good & trustworthy mechanics are hard to find, but Ali has always gone above and beyond. He also takes time to get to know his customers, something you can tell by the slew of holiday and thank you mail from customers that is pinned to the wall. I happened to find Anchorage Professional Auto by luck when I first moved to Anchorage. My friends car, which she had kept in storage for the past year, wouldn't start. Ali's shop was the only one open on a Saturday at 5pm. Not only did he drive us out to the vehicle and jump start it so we could get it to the shop, but he and his team stayed late to replace her battery so she would have a car for the rest of the holiday weekend. This shop stands by their work and was very fair in my dealings with them. They allow customer provided parts, which is very rare in Anchorage, and finished the work in the time they quoted, for the price they quoted. A month later the part they changed failed (a remanufactered power steering pump) and they replaced it again for no charge. I needed a tow to the nearest mechanic, luckily my car decided to break down near Alaska Professional Auto with Ali, Jerry & the team. I arrived sweaty and with a heavy heart. Ali had answered my anxious phone calls several times with assurance and helpful information. He actually asked his guys to stay late, on a Saturday, to finish my car so I could get home. The price he charged me was more than fair-no extra for staying an hour and a half late, after closing time, just to help me out. I felt like family. His name is Ali. very nice to convince you that his shop is the place and before doing anything on the car they figure our whats the problem and then seek your permission before proceeding with the repair. He calls next day saying that the car will be ready and the total is 500. I did not authorized him to start working on it and said that if i asked him to stop in the middle of the job he will charge me more. We were left with no choice but to get our car back.We did tell him how unprofessional he was and will never recommend him he did not seem to care as there was more suckers like u there who go to him. Owner is RUDE! As with Kunai C. and Shannon S. the owner, Ali, was very rude. I asked if he charged for estimates (which his ad and her personally told me no). I took my motorhome in for an estimate and when we went to pick it up he charged me $300 for "diagnostics". I have waited 2 weeks for his estimate to fix and when I called he yelled at me and said he didn't know he was supposed to give me one. When I told him he was being rude and if he wanted me as a customer he needed to speak to me differently he put me on hold. When he came back to the phone he still wasn't any better. I suggest they hire someone in the office that has better customer service skills if they want to continue business. read more

My family used to only go to them, but the customer service really has gone downhill. There is always at the very least a 20 minute wait to even speak to someone, and the last time I called to ask a quick question right when they opened I was on hold for 10 minutes. I understand being busy but I don't think they're that incredibly flooded with calls the minute they open that they can't talk to me for two minutes. Calling for a price quote, the employee I spoke with gave me a price, and when I asked how he arrived at that number, was too busy now, unable to take down my phone number and demanded I fax him "everything" in order for him to explain the breakdown of his estimate or else "I can forget about it." When I asked what "everything" entailed, again, he was too busy to explain. They may do great auto work (they may not), but I will never know as I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could, we took a our car in there to have 1 brake looked at because it was making sounds and he said he would take care of it and that he will call if anything else is wrong with the rest of them so that way we will know before he does the repairs. I come back to pick up the car and the bill was over $500 for him "replacing all the brakes and rotors" and lied to me and said he called my sister and she confirmed the repairs on the rest of the vehicle, so I called her right in front of him and she said he never called her and she didn't confirm the repairs... end of the day we ended up having to pay for all of it and when we left or brakes sounded worse then they did when it came in. the OWNER Ali was very rude and disrespectful and most importantly isn't an honest man and is more interested in the money then service.
