I actually chose this place based on being in my Facebook feed, didn't have any referrals or anything, just liked what I saw advertised & went with it...I am so very glad I did. I like the fact that they did a complete consultation over the phone before even booking the appointment, very thorough. Hannah was such a joy to work with, and I feel that she listened to everything that I said, my brows turned out beautifully, there were no scabbing at all, everything healed well, and within a timely manner, and I received lots of compliments on them. I got my eyebrows done by Rachel and she did a wonderful job. I am very fair and I was worried they would be too dark but that fear was 100% unfounded because she was very careful to use a light color ink and to not overdo them. The space they have is beautiful, it's easy to park on a side street or in front. Delicious bagels nearby too. Clean, professional, and they seem very open to all kinds of customers. OMG - if you want your brows done, GO WITH THE BEST. AND KARINA *IS* THE BEST!! Ok, so I had massive hair loss (telogen effluvium) two or so years ago, including most of my eyebrows. I also got into a severe car accident in my teens and have facial scarring that runs right through my left eyebrow. The hair refused to grow into and extending outward from the scar, so I plucked my right eyebrow to match for many years (I call this look "the Auntie Surprise! look because I always had what looked like an expression of surprise with my brows plucked like that): I found Karina on Instagram after looking for years for someone that could help me restore my brows artfully and correctly. Located inside the Edward Johnson Salon in Ghent is where you will find the wonderful Karina. An ODU art graduate, it is clear to see how her passion translates from paper and canvas into the permanent cosmetic realm. I got in touch with Karina over text message just to ask some questions, but before I knew it, I'd booked an appointment, put down my $50 deposit (which is non refundable, but goes towards the final cost, and the touch up appointment 4-6 weeks after is also included). The salon is sleek, clean and very modern. Karina makes you feel very at ease from the moment you walk in and welcomes all your questions - mine were "When can I drink coffee again? When can I next work out, and what do I do with my face when washing it?" I had a few more, but she smiled and explained everything in detail, and provided an aftercare kit. To answer those q's: Coffee straight after the appointment, and no sweating 10 days after - so if you, (like me) just started a new workout plan, put it on hold. Do you want the best results for your brows? Then listen to the after care advice from the expert... Initially, I wanted just the powder brows, but then I saw more before and after photos of her other clients and wanted the microblading. Karina assured me I had the perfect skin to choose either. So, we decided on microblading with some shading. She got to work with drawing an outline and shading template on my face - at first I was nervous. When she showed me the preview outline, it was bold, dark and I wasn't used to it and freaked out for a milli second. Karina put up with my momentary panic professionally and made me feel super calm, telling me it wouldn't look like that after she's done the procedure. I told her I trusted her, we changed the tail just a little to make it thinner, and then away we went with the numbing gel. Glad I listened to her!! Ladies, trust this girl with your brows. I came out of the salon feeling super confident and smiling like a crazy person in just 3 hours (new brows, who dis?) - that is most certainly not how I walked in. I walked in anxious, nervous, but knew I needed my brows to look better and fuller. I even told the girl at the Starbucks drive thru on my way home when she asked me how I was, "I just got my eyebrows done and I'm feeling good!" To which she came closer to stare and started dancing saying "YASSS girl, they look on FLEEK!" I've seen great results on other ladies, and am hoping once the healing process is over, my brows will look even better than what they already do.
