I have never experienced this type of care where I was basically punished for being in waiting room, brought paperwork with me and was dismissed by doctor and said he couldn't help me. Very disappointed in this practice especially since I did everything I was supposed too and arrived early only to be told by staff they don't get back from lunch until 115pm or so. We have several members of our family with very specific health needs and Dr. Carl and his staff keep us up to date so we don't have to remember all of the details! They take care of it for you. Making appointments is as easy as can be. Prescription refills are always checked and evaluated and dispensed appropriately. Cathy is the lead nurse and she is always super organized and extremely helpful and communicative! Colleen is such a sweet and welcoming member of WellcomeMD. I always love seeing her face!:) Heidi is fabulous on the phone and great with communications. She gets the job done! But when it comes to your health, your relationship with your doctor, it's an intimate dynamic because it requires clarity and trust on the part of the doctor and patient. Dr. Carl is so relaxed that he puts his patients at ease immediately. He is thorough and goes through all of your blood panels with you one-on-one and makes excellent suggestions and also is complimentary if he feels that you are doing well. He will prescribe supplementation only if it is reflected as needed in your bloodwork. Personally, my blood pressure zooms up every time I go to the doctor. But with Dr. Carl, he brings it back to normal and puts me at ease. Obviously, my entire family and I are fans of WellcomeMD. I recommend Dr. Carl and Dr. Colfer to everyone I know! It's just a pcp gatekeeper, like when you had a pediatrician. Now looking for a new pcp coordinated with specialists (perhaps VCU), somewhere with expertise in areas of need. And sadly (trying not to be sick over it (pun intended)), still have months on the Wellcome contract ($$$ :( ).

Her personality and bedside manner are lacking and need work, and the level of care I received from her was not thorough or even adequate . . . Twice I have been misdiagnosed and treated poorly (or not at all!) for conditions insufficiently addressed or even ignored, and on several occasions I have felt that the quality of care rendered that day was missing something . . . However, CEC is not nearly as bad as Patient First, so there's that!

I went to see him for an annual wellness checkup and was prescribed a medication for my anxiety. He told me that we would check in after a month of me taking the medication to see if I was doing well with it. I assumed this would just be over the phone as is normal practice with most doctors. When I called back after a month, he was on vacation for 2 weeks and did not have anyone at the office. So I was off my prescription for about a week before getting ahold of him and experiencing serious withdrawals. Then when I finally was able to contact him he told me I would need to come in person for an appointment for a refill on my medication (this is not standard practice and I've never had this happen before... it's unusual to be asked to come in for a full appointment for a REFILL of something the doctor has already prescribed). It's clear that he's only trying to make money by doing this. My insurance does not cover anything outside of an annual wellness exam, so it would be $90 for me to just get a REFILL of my medication. Absolutely ridiculous. Would not recommend this crook of a doctor. Additionally, when I called him to express my concerns he was EXTREMELY RUDE.

I guess the fact that I waited three weeks for the appointment and never asked for or received treatment, a prescription, a referral to a specialist, closer examination or a follow-up appointment was lost on them. Then I'm told they don't do their own billing so there is nothing they can do. I'm going to report them to my insurance company for billing irregularities. Also in the notes post appointment I was told to exercise more even though I told him I run 20 miles a week. Sometimes no matter what you do it isn't enough.
