In the beginning my sister who accompanied me to most appointments, and myself thought the staff seemed nice. The office manager, Sharon did a lot of the talking for the Dr and was involved with most of the appointments. From the very beginning there were problems with the denture. It was very difficult to snap on, and if it ever was put on, was quite painful. Even when the Dr. Was able, you could see that he was using a lot of brut strength in his attempts. I started developing sores and was experiencing more pain. I had to take them out to eat, and after several months was still on soft food. I am not a wimp, and have never been afraid to go to the dentist. I was getting frustrated, and losing some of the enthusiasm and hope I had in the beginning. I expressed my concerns to Dr. SIghne, and became teary eyed, and told him I was trying my best, but didn't know what to do. He became agitated , and tolded me that if I was going to conduct myself that way that maybe I should not come anymore and not be allowed on the property. I couldn't believe it. This was not a blubbering fest. It was a few warranted tears! I told him that I was sorry , all I want to do is eat normally and have something other then soft food. From there on Sharon ( office manager)was in charge of my treatment. If I past the dentist , in the hall , he wouldn't even look at me, let alone say hello. After a few more appointments, going on 2 years now, I was told to get a 2nd opinion!! I got 2. Having to pay one person $175. for the consultation, he wanted to put in permanent implants for several thousand dollars, while expressing some carefully worded negative comments about the work I had done. The other dentist said that I needed 4, instead of the 2 posts that I had, which caused a rocking ,unstable foundation . The procedure would cost me a lot more money. She seemed skeptical of the snap on denture I had in. I later found out the the posts didn't line up and probably would never work right! I called. Family Dental to give the results of the 2nd ( and 3rd ) opinion requested. I called a few times, before discovering that they were no longer accepting my calls. I had been blocked!! I went in person to settle the balance, but this type of delayed billing after collecting payment up front feels deceptive. Patients should be made clearly aware when they are paying an estimate versus a final amount. I've canceled all future appointments and will not be returning. Others should be cautious and make sure they fully understand their billing practices before agreeing to treatment.

Great friendly staff but the doctors failed to attend to my child properly. For the past year there have been a few spots they were "watching" and told me just to keep having him brush well and usually they clear themselves up. Well my child woke up with tooth pain last week and I decided to go elsewhere this time to see if something was missed. Right away this new place told me he had multiple cavities and needs multiple fillings. The one hurting was just about to the nerve and needs attention right away. So long story short they missed huge cavities. I was taking my son every six months also. And for them to tell me 2 months ago things look good.... And for a new doctor to see right away there were things wrong and that they need care asap, That's just wrong. Will definitely not be going back there.

Now in my experience (and I've had alot of it when it comes to doctors) doctors should explain everything they are going to do before they do it. He tells me he's going to go ahead and remove the tooth. The next thing I know he's getting ready to jam a 4 inch needle inside my mouth, no warning, nothin. I don't think so buddy. Now instead of giving me a minute to catch my breath, and I don't know, brace myself, he decides I'm being impossible, rips his gloves off, THROWS the needle across the room into the sink, and as he's walking out the door says, "I guess I'll just write you a referral to an oral surgeon, thanks for wasting my time." Uhhhhh, what just happened? Well needless to say I was pretty P.Oed. I got a bill in the mail about a week later from his office for $75. I refuse to pay it. It never went to collections so I wonder if his conscious got the better of him.

I got lucky being recommended to Dr Freiboth, he has always done the work I needed and wanted helping in choosing the best effective treatment method. While they get the job done most of the time, they do not go above and beyond. Positive: The secretaries in Bremerton and the main clinic in Gig Harbor are friendly. They find appointments most of the time quickly. I like that they will see all 3 of my children on the same day, whereas most will only see 2. Negative: The is a lack of communication. Most recently my son had an appointment for a tooth extraction. My husband waited a good little while before they told him they could not see my son because a month prior he would not let them take xrays. They referred us out. That should have been done when the appointment was made.Besides, they could have take xrays prior to the work as I am sure they would have been able to do it. They do not work well with kids who have anxiety or other special needs. My daughter was supposed to have a filling done. She would not stop crying and they refused to fill it. They put a cap over it to supposedly stop further decay. My son most recently suffered from ADHD and some other issues. He had a bad day and we went in for an appointment. While he has had xrays done before, this particular time he would not cooperate. The Hygienist was nice and talked to him. She was not able to get much done. The dentist who was Asian saw him. My child would not cooperate and would bit down on the equipment. The Asian Dentist was snappy and was huffing and puffing and was not please with my son. I personally did not like the way my son was treated. Most pediatric dental clinics have partnerships with the hospitals to do light sedation or other methods to get the work done. The clinic they referred us to have the partnership with Harrison This clinic is limited in what they can do. They are behind schedule most of our appointments, so I cannot they are always late. Maybe they are on time for another family. They reschedule weekend appointments the day before because the dentist doesn't want to come in. Occasionally they are open on the weekend. I had a weekend appointment set up, but I was told the dentist did not want to drive into town. I had an appointment on 12/24 and they called the day before to say they were not going to be open. If they had a few patients, they should have squeezed everyone closer together or had staff come in. My time in just as valuable as theirs. Also, they are telling patients private business. One hygenist was explaining why another patient was gagging. I was not concerned and did not mention it nor ask, but I was told the person was sick, had a medical condition, and had just finished Chemo. That was not my business to know. Unfortunately, this is the only or one of a few places that take State Medicaid Insurance. Once I am able to put my children on my plan, I will transfer them to a different dental clinic

I have seen several dentists since then, but have always returned to Dr. Shoepflin. One day I actually drove from Bellevue to Port Orchard just for his dentistry! There are so many great things to say about him and his practice. He and his staff are the nicest people with great knowledge. He is an amazing doctor/artist when it comes to cosmetically correcting teeth. I trust him, which is super important, of course. I have extreme anxiety and they are always so calm and caring, which puts me at ease. I have had the same dental hygienist, Mariah, since day 1. She's great. Lastly, after my visit on Wednesday, they called the next day to make sure everything had gone well. Absolute thumbs up. Thank you all.
