I've been training my puppy with Karma Dog's instructors Chris and Brandon since my puppy was 3 months old and have made significant progress with puppy nipping, loose leash walking, leave it, come, stay, etc. The training sessions were very informative and the instructors explained every step so it is easy for everyone to understand. Both instructors were also very patient and answered all questions from all students including any random questions outside of the training topic of the week. The weekly training session was then followed by an hour of puppy playtime where all dogs can play and learn how to socialize with other dogs under the supervision of the instructors. Before the puppy playtime started, the instructors will come outside of the facility to get your puppies from you. They also wore masks during the entire playtime. My puppy is always super excited and happy when seeing Chris and Brandon and love to sit on their laps to be petted. My puppy also comes home happy and tired from the playtime every time. I wish they would have more puppy playtime sessions. I definitely recommend training with Chris and Brandon and I am looking to sign up my puppy to the more advanced dog obedient classes read more

Wow, I can't say enough good things about Cassie. From the 10 minute consultation, to puppy kindergarten, to private sessions, she is amazing! My standard poodle puppy (Lexi, 9 weeks) was having a real rough time being alone in her crate or play pen. Cassie gave me some great pointers over the phone that made nighttime much easier. The HUGE difference came from our private session yesterday. I'm just over an hour, Cassie taught ME how to help Lexi know what she needs to do and make her comfortable doing them. The results were mind-blowing. Lexi took all of her naps peacefully in her pen or crate and SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT in her crate! I got a full night of uninterrupted sleep while my baby girl slept peacefully nearby in her crate. Wow, I am so grateful. I also want to recognize and thank Rebecca. She came and watched my little girl for a few hours so I could go to work. She was so good with Lexi and I loved the photos and updates! When I got home (after Rebecca had been gone about an hour), Lexi was chewing her bone peacefully in her pen. What more could a momma ask for? UPDATE: Lexi is now over a year and an AKC Canine Good Citizen, thanks to Cassie! We have completed puppy kindergarten, basic communication, and CGC classes with Cassie as well as had a few private sessions to work on things like counter surfing, accepting grooming, proper walking, separation, and a fear of certain types of people... Cassie is one of Lexi's very favorite humans and has been amazing at teaching me how to train Lexi. We're looking forward to continuing to work with Cassie down the road. We will be taking the Trick Dog class next time it is offered and working with her to get ready for therapy dog certification in a few years. My wife and I wanted to send our 12 week old Siberian husky to a dog training class so that he would be well behaved and sociable. After researching and making several calls to multiple dog trainers, we decided to go with Karma Dog Training. We sent Poe, our puppy, to Karma puppy Kindergarten free trial this last Sunday and had Cassandra come to our home for a private training session the following day because we were so impressed with her training. Our first puppy kindergarten session was great, as Cassandra was very knowledgeable and attentive. Poe was able to social with other puppies, as well as learning a few new tricks. On the following day, Cassandra showed up early to our private training session at home. She showed us how to train Poe to go to bed, to not beg for food, potty train, and many other important techniques to having a well-behaved puppy. We loved it. Cassie and Olivia were great and it's overall a fantastic way to get your dog socialized. As a matter of fact, about half the time in class is spent letting dogs socialize with both other puppies and with humans. And they make sure you get the some of your feet through a puddle of cleaner to make sure you don't track in things that might make puppies sick. And don't worry about your puppy having potty accidents in class. There's a mop and poop bags there. I have a 7-month-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever named Moose. He is the world's most loving dog, but he has had a lot of trouble with walking, grazing and obedience. I was about to move to a new apartment and I thought it might be the perfect time for more training in a boarding experience. A good friend (who's also a wonderful trainer at Karma Dog Training, Kate Anderson) recommended I board and train with Karma - that's when I found Rachel Gettman. From our very first conversation, I knew Moose was going to be in the best possible hands. Rachel is a total professional. She is passionate, takes the job seriously, and is very attentive and loving to the dog's needs and to the owners. Over the 10 days Moose was boarding/training with her, she was in constant communication with me and updated me on Moose's progress. She took Moose in and treated him as if he was part of the family. I got pictures and videos, and she wasn't afraid to talk about the challenges. Moose is now home and is almost a different dog. He is still the loving puppy I raised, but with a whole new set of skills. And I can walk him without fear of serious injury! Our 8 month old mini Bernedoodle spent 2 weeks with Chris Wharton for a live-in training program. Chris was great. He kept in touch with us regularly with pictures and updates. Our dog came home healthy and happy and with new skills and manners. Chris has kept in close touch with us in the weeks after- initiating check in's and answering questions. He even sent our two kids their own trainer treat pouches. Chris clearly cares about the pups in his care. He only uses positive training methods and the dogs are having fun while learning. Chris took the time to make sure we understood what they had been working on, along with the methods, so that we could keep it going after our dog was back with us. After adopting a rambunctious 12-week old puppy from a rescue, I researched just about every puppy training class around, and thankfully landed on Karma's puppy kindergarten which mixed socialization and training for our little Dalvin. Such a positive experience, Cassie and Olivia knew just what they were doing, led great lesson plans, and consistently assisted in helping Dalvin progress forward when he began to master each week's task. There wasn't pressure to master everything on the first time around, they made it clear puppies were welcome to repeat the cycle of classes rather than get the boot after the 8 weeks rotation was up. My new puppy, Tomo, and I recently started Karma Dog Training's puppy kindergarten. The classes are held at the Dog Ranch in Laguna Beach. The classroom is kept very clean and everyone sterilizes their shoes before entering. Even though my pup started the class before he got his last set of shots, I didn't have to worry about him getting sick. It's really great for Tomo to have the opportunity to socialize with other puppies (and humans) and for me to learn training basics like sit, stay, leave it, etc. Olivia, the lead trainer, clearly knows what she's talking about. She explains not only how to train your puppy, but why the particular method of, say, asking your dog to sit, yields results. There's also time during class to ask any questions you have that might not directly relate to what you're learning that day. Olivia was so helpful that I decided to have a private training session with her so that we could work on some issues more specific to my particular puppy (separation anxiety, potty training eccentricities, furniture chewing). She had the answer to every question and tons of great suggestions for treats and toys (frozen trader joe's sweet potato bisque soup in a kong and a DIY flirt pole were my favorite suggestions) to keep him safely entertained. What can I say about Karma Dog that hasn't already been said? It's amazing to me how much difference there is in our Llewelyn Setter pup since we began our training at Karma Dog when she was 12 weeks old! The Saturday socialization classes were so helpful! As I was walking our Madison, now 6 months old, on the trail the other day, a dog began barking and lunging at her. She turned her back on him and sat there. He just quit barking and left her alone! I believe that without Karma Dog's socialization classes we'd have had a real dog fight. We also appreciated the opportunity to meet and arrange play dates with other new pups that were properly vaccinated and trained, Madison is now so comfortable with other dogs and people and knows her boundaries. Olivia is a "dog whisperer," I think she really knows how to connect with us and our fur babies. I was having some real challenges with loose leash walking and impulse control (butterflies and birds nearly caused Madison to pull my arms off). Olivia came over for an in-home training session. She brought some DIY toys to help with the impulse control and we practiced several techniques to help with the walking. We also worked on "come." The difference is like day and night! After picking up an adorable but feisty Scottish Terrier puppy, I realized she and I were going to need help to train us up right! I signed her up here and took her to her first puppy kindergarten class. Initially she hid under a shelf but with in 15 minutes she was out playing and socializing with the other puppies. They are both very attentive to how the dogs in their classes are behaving with each other and with their owners and they cater their teaching to what everyone needs. They teach you the tools you need to better work with your pup and fun (optional) challenges to work on at home, all while giving plenty of puppy play and socialization time. We adopted 2 rescue Huskies about a year apart and despite my valiant efforts to train them to walk and not "drag" me for miles I was not successful. Neither were puppies when we adopted them so we missed the opportunity to train them before they attained their "fighting weight." I did lots of research and opted to try a series of in home training sessions with KARMA Dog Training because I needed to train 2 dogs at the same time and also because I wanted a local trainer. Our trainer was "Saint Olivia" and we were very fortunate to have had her! She truly knows how to get results with positive reinforcement and is extremely patient with the human she had to train as well. Most people who know anything about the breed would assume it would be impossible to train 2 full grown Huskies to "walk not run" on leash. Olivia even met with me several times at Dana Point Harbor to work with us around other dogs and squirrels as distractions. My "boys" still get to run off leash at the dog park daily but they now understand the concept of "walking" on either side of me on a leash thanks to Olivia and KARMA Dog Training. I'd have given a 6 star rating if it were possible! read more

Cassie took the time to research dog rescues and breeders and made great suggestions for us. I've had many dogs and done training with all of them. Far and away, the Karma Dog Training puppy class was the best I've been to. I'd been under the impression that 'dogs will be dogs' and play rough and growl-- and that was all okay. The dogs would sort out their issues themselves. The puppy class taught me that in fact, we can help the puppies learn positive social behaviors that will serve them well throughout their lives. My dog, Ted, is highly reactive to other dogs due to a dog attack, during which he incurred severe injuries. He lunged at dogs that are across the street/ at a distance, but with help from Karma Dog Trainers, Olivia and Cassie, I know what to do to help Ted through his moments of dog attack flashback when an off leash dog is approaching us at parks (because their owners lack basic dog etiquette) or when we can't avoid walking past another pooch while out on a walk. The biggest tool we gained is that change will happen with practice, patience, and lots of praise--followed by yummy treats. Positive training is the core of this training program for dogs. Ted is still highly reactive, but we're able to get through tense post-traumatic flashbacks when around dogs (especially the highly reactive ones like him) in a much calmer manner most of the time. Great way to socialize your dog in a safe and welcoming environment. We looked forward to Sundays when we totally focused on Humphrey our Lhasa Apso. He looked forward to it as well. I just started with Karma Dog Training and in my first week I have had amazing results! Truly this company is teaching and practicing good Karma, from the moment I called to inquire about training to our first meeting with Amanda. I needed help with aggression towards other dogs while walking and charging at the gate when she hears or senses a dog coming. Amanda went through key things that happen when a dog has aggression, evaluated our situation and came up with a home plan. There was drastic changes that needed to be done on our part and a lot to remember. Amanda reassured us in our training and followed up with a detailed email going over everything along with her contact information if we needed any help or had any questions. I have followed Amanda's training plan and see a huge change in just one week. I also received a follow call from Michaela making sure that Amanda was a good fit for my dog and I, and made sure I did not have any further questions. This is the best dog training I've ever been to. Cassie and Olivia are the dynamic duo dog trainers. They are very knowledgeable, teach you the do's and don'ts of training your dog and they do it in a very positive friendly way. No stress for you or your dog. Our little iPod (yes we named her iPod) at 4 months old has responded very well to all the training and we can already take her out to dinner and she stays in her place. Our trainer Olivia and Cassie were so knowledgeable and friendly. They made training our 11 week old puppy really fun and easy. It was a family event for us, and my kids were able to do all of the training at their location and bring it home to continue the process of training her.
