A 3 yr. old toy Fox Terrier I'd adopted from our local Palmdale shelter sorely needed basic obedience and leash training. Searching online, I was fortunate to find Smart Dog Training School in Palmdale and discovered that Gonzalo was part of an excellent team that ran a training program I'd used many years earlier in the San Fernando Valley. Boy oh boy, did I luck out!! I visited my furry new friend nearly every week while she was being trained, and it was quite obvious she was progressing very well, AND she was so very comfortable and happy with her temporary boarding home as well as her trainers. Little Gypsy is now back home with us and fully trained. Gonzalo and his team are top notch -- well beyond a five-star rating!!!

To my surprise I quickly learned otherwise. First session Jay addressed the running out the front door when opened. Jazz immediately obeyed Jay and myself. So impressive! Second session we needed Jazz to sit on his bed during breakfast & dinner. While his owner in a wheelchair enjoys his meals. Jay accomplished that in half the session. Third session was walking. Being able to keep Jazz on my side and from growling at other people or dogs. In one session Jay empowered me to lead Jazz. A big task for some of us women who struggle with being pack leaders. Jazz and I have been enjoying some lovely walks. Thank you Jay!!! Fourth session was calling Jazz in from backyard. Jazz did well with Jay. That is something I am sure I will master shortly! If not, I now have a dog expert to reach out to for help. Jazz was so excited to see Jay on a weekly basis. Jay was so loving and it made me realized I was not loving with Jazz. He is not my dog but my clients. However, I have started to love on him. This way he feels he belongs to someone and that he is loved. This poor dog came from the shelter during COVID. I have no idea what life he had before. However, now Jazz is living his best life ever thanks to Tails of Success. I have always felt professional dog trainer have. value. This recent situation has re-enforced their value based on their experience, quick results, and in home training. I highly recommend this experts. Side note: make sure you do your homework daily to reinforce all Jay's teaches your pet. This way you too will be a happy client with a happy pet.

I have a chunky longhaired chihuahua, asked for a trim and paid for extras like nail grind, tooth brush, etc. Waited until the 4.5 hour mark to call and check up on her, was told it would be another thirty to forty five minutes and they would ring me when she was ready. Okay, fine. I waited another hour and a half without getting a call, and decided that was enough. Get to the store (she's been here 6 hours at this point) and the groomer is just BARELY starting on her haircut. So wtf have you been doing with my dog this entire time? The groomer tells me 20 more minutes, she'd just gotten off her lunch break. I wait another hour in store before they're finished, and I am infuriated. No apologies, just excuse after excuse. "Oh the groomer is new, oh we're busy today, oh your dog needed extra attention for some matting she had". Bull. They charge me $86 and by the time I get home, I realize that she still has matting in her coat, her nails have not been trimmed, and her teeth have not been brushed. So what the actual f did I pay for and wait 7.5 hours for? Not to mention, the dogs are stuck in cages the entire time they're back there and have no choice but to urinate and defecate in these cages since they're not being taken out. God awful experience. Don't use Kara, don't use this location period. I'll be finding my dog a new groomer that's actually capable of doing their work in a timely manner.

Since she searched for some little tubes of specialty pate and gave 4 of those to me also for free. At that point, I started to lose it. My eyes filled with tears and my throat choked up. I was about to unravel. I couldn't even speak because I knew I'd start bawling. I could only whisper. The poor gal thought I was angry because my face was all red and tense. No. I was trying so hard not to cry. All I could do is whisper "Thank you. Thank you so much." She has no idea how deeply that little bit of kindness touched my heart. I've spent hours and hours looking for work and sending out resumes only to hear nothing. I don't want to lose my cat at this time, too. She's my girl...my only company at night and has the best, sweetest disposition. Thank you for your kindness.

The surgery itself went well, and the cost was actually very reasonable considering the procedure. Unfortunately, my experience with the customer service has been consistently disappointing. The wait times have been long at nearly every visit. I understand that emergencies happen, but what concerns me more is how clients are treated by the front office staff and office manager. They often come across as dismissive, lacking compassion, and sometimes even condescending. Instead of simply relaying information, they sometimes seem to offer medical explanations that should really come directly from the veterinarian. When I asked to speak with the veterinarian to clarify questions about my dog's care, I was repeatedly routed through several staff members before getting any answers. That process was frustrating and unnecessary. After my mom's dog's surgery, I expected a little more compassion and guidance. Instead, it felt like we were rushed out the door. We received only limited explanations about medications, dosing schedules, and post-operative care. The focus seemed to be on scheduling the next appointment rather than making sure we understood how to care for our pet at home. When we asked why another appointment was necessary, the only explanation given was, "The doctor said so." During one visit, while waiting for my pet, there were three employees at the front desk, yet no one acknowledged me for about 20 minutes. Even after finally checking in, I continued waiting without any updates. Because this has happened repeatedly over multiple visits--not just once--I don't believe these are isolated incidents. The veterinarians appear knowledgeable, and the pricing has been fair. However, the front office is often the first and last interaction clients have, and unfortunately, it leaves a negative impression. I genuinely hope management addresses the customer service experience because I would like to continue bringing my pets here. As it stands, though, I am considering taking my business elsewhere unless I see meaningful improvement.

To our credit we are also very involved and more than willing to help to keep Maverick and the staff safe but not all places will allow the time or space for people to do that and are more just rushing along or through things but NOT HERE not today ! Serious Dr. Ortega's change to Mavericks pre sedation has been a game changer but I also think the approach and the vets make a HUGE difference in 9 years we have never had such positive experiences and we have been all over with him this is truly the most comfortable, reassured and trusting I've felt with vet's and Maverick! He is a special boy with re leg deformity which makes him more vulnerable so also more reactive but they do so well with him I cannot thank them enough I have raved about Dr. Ortega but Dr. Soto is just as amazing - these doctors are angels to crazy fur mommas like me ! This most recent time, we took our dog in because we couldn't get an appointment at our regular vet. They had the same day regular appointment. Our dogs face had swollen instantly. We weren't sure if it was a snake bite or a bug bite. Or something with salivary gland. First and foremost, the girl at the desk was quite rude. Not the type of person you would want on your front lines of customer service. They did all the proper steps except for not doing a blood smear test to test for venom. The doctor kept saying this is what she thought it was, but she was not doing the test to see if there was venom. She did do an aspiration test. Which had to get sent out so we waited for that. But unlike most vets who would treat that procedure as surgical and shave the area in which they are extracting from. They just chose to stick the needle in and extract. In the meantime, she recommended overnight hospitalization and doing the anti-venom treatment. The anti-venom treatment is not cheap, plus they wanted to charge us almost $1000 to hold her in a facility overnight, where there was no staff. The specific line item for staff was $500. And there was no one there overnight only one check in at midnight. This is robbery. There are really great options in the area, but this is not it. I've learned from one of the other vets in the area that the number one mission for a veterinarian is to be of service. That is not this place. We see so much price gouging from various businesses like this. There are much better options in terms of customer service, fairness of pricing and treatment recommendations, and professionalism. I went and got a second opinion and then saw my regular vet. It's also nice to work with places who will instantly send you the medical paperwork via email and stay in communication with you via text. You don't get that at pet check engine. I do not recommend.
