I was very impressed with this kennel. Our girls were treated very well. They shared a kennel space just off of the feeding room. Everything in the feeding room was labeled. You could smell food and not a hint feces. The air smelled fresh, and there wasn't a fly in sight. A few workers were inside actively seeing to the needs of the animals. It was summer and the misters were on every few minutes. 5/5! I've had others treat my girls so poorly. Last time I picked up from another kennel my girls were caked in feces. I still apologize to my girls about that experience! Never again will they endure that! read more

We only go for grooming, so we can't comment on their boarding services. This is the only establishment that has been able to successfully groom my half-husky hairball. All other places have called us within an hour and said please come retrieve your wild beast. Both of my dogs come home looking well-groomed and happy. Been using Ken Neills for a couple of years and honestly it's the only place I trust with my pooch. I had to board our fur child during Fourth of July and was extremely nervous doing so. (Fireworks bring NAM flashbacks for my dog) Ken Neills staff was aware of anxious dogs and brought the question up to me. (I forget to even consider!) I informed them he does have anxiety with loud noises and they made a note. They would house/crate all dogs with anxiety in the office and play music to help drown out fireworks during the fourth. I'm surprised that I haven't written a review for our go-to kennel yet, so here goes. We've been boarding various dogs with Ken Neill for over 30 years. We've had the minor glitch now and then, but nothing to change my opinion that this is the best place to board my dogs when we travel. At our most recent stay there was a small mix up with the food. I left a message for the manager Kurt and spoke to him in person. He explained how there was a minor miscommunication that ended up with my dog getting an extra breakfast. (I'm sure my boy was disappointed to get extra breakfast. LOL) Kurt showed me how they prepare the dog's food and offered some great suggestions on how much extra food to pack should we not be able to get home when we expected. He had other suggestions should our delay in returning home run into more than a few days. He was professional and friendly and I left with even more appreciation on how well this kennel is run and for how much they are concerned with each dogs' welfare. The staff is always friendly and helpful both at drop off and pick up. And I feel very comfortable leaving my boy in their care. read more

Today was my first experience with Ken Neill Kennels. I think as a whole they seem to do well with customer service, but Britney, a groomer, was awful. I scheduled an appointment, which was not a friendly conversation to start. Then, when arriving for my appointment days later, I was intercepted with a very negative attitude from the groomer, Britney. She gave an impression of inconvenience. She could barely be bothered to show me a picture of the type of cut for my dogs, and when I requested help to get my dogs out of the car, two other greatly supportive women, helped me withmy dogs, instead of Britney, the person who was supposed to be working on them. However, while her attitude was mildly irritating, the reason for my post is that she cut my dog with a sheer, which required her to get stitched from my vet two hours into her being there. My dog has never had an issue getting her hair done all these years. This was a lack of safety and attention to detail on her part. My poor dog was crying, with bloodshot eyes, which can be seen in the pictures. I do NOT recommend. Be aware of this Britney girl. read more

I have used this business for boarding and grooming in the past and have had no issues. So, when planning a trip out of town, they were my first choice for boarding my dogs. When I called them to make a reservation, I was told to bring in proof of rabies and bordetello vaccines. No problem. When I got there this morning, I was told that I needed an ORIGINAL vaccine certificate of rabies. A what? I have always been given a printout from the vet detailing what vaccines they received, the day they got them, and when they're due for the next ones. I have used these printouts when asked at other grooming places and boarding kennels. I don't even know what an original vaccine certificate is! Furthermore, when I used this kennel in the past and needed to bring in proof of vaccines, I brought the printouts and they were accepted. I can understand if this is a new policy, I haven't used this business in awhile, but when a customer calls to get instructions on what they need to bring, the rep on the phone needs to be specific in what they tell them. They were not. And that's not on me. I'll be real. I got really mad. Dropped an f-bomb. Put yourself in my shoes; I'm leaving town today and have nowhere to place my dogs. There was no offer of helping me resolve this. Just a "you can't board with us without it" and that was that. I called other places, too last minute. I'm not proud of my reaction, but this is just another event where customer service stinks all over and I'm so over it. I have a couple of friends who currently board with them, and they told me this is a whole different group of people and seems to have changed some policies. Again, need to tell clients who haven't used them in awhile what those new policies are. I will never use them again and will not recommend them to my friends or family. If you do use them, be sure to get SPECIFIC instructions on what you need to bring. Let my experience be a lesson to you. Don't let them screw you like they screwed me. read more

I would definitely recommend this place! They have taken care of my two huskies for the last 4years and are very attentive! Huskies are known to be thrashers and escape artists, but I trust they will be safe at this location. They have double gates in many spots and are good at watching the dogs. My dogs always come back home like they just had the time of their life and sleep like children after a day at Disneyland. You pay extra for outside play time with other dogs, but it is worth it. Used this kennel many times in past with no problem but this time dogs came back severely neglected. Both dogs had lost a lot of weight. When confronted caretaker used every excuse he could to not take responsibility. It was an extended stay with us making phone calls to ask how dogs were doing and were told they were fine. No mention that the dogs had lost over 20% of their weight. When we picked them up The large dog was absolute skin and bones....there is no way they shouldn't have told us about this, increased the feeding or called the vet! read more

I haven't reviewed Ken Neill Kennels in a while, so thought I'd update my review. I have been using them for boarding and grooming for 12 years or so now and never had a bad experience. My mastiff/pit is a very scared dog. She is 14 and lost her companion about 2 years ago and has not been the same since. They are so patient and loving with her that she is ok to be there and actually lightens up and is happy. Now I have a new puppy, she is a Portuguese Water Dog, she is 5 months old and very, very high maintenance. To the extent that you can't talk on the phone because she wants all the attention all the time. There is a new groomer, I think her name is Millie (but I am terrible with names, so ? ). She did amazing work on Bailey. I mean perfect. Exactly what I asked for and got rid of all her puppy hair. My last PWD we always kept short, but I am excited to work with the new groomer to try longer hair on her head for a pony tail and maybe a lion cut in the winter. This is a great place with a great staff and even better owner. I would never go anywhere else! read more

I have boarded our dogs about 8 times a year for over 10 years in the Antelope Valley. We've used other kennels around the Antelope Valley however this is closer to our home so I thought I'd give it a shot. Upon drop off the employees were very kind, and quick & efficient. It had been pouring rain & I was running behind to catch a flight at LAX. I RUSHED & signed the multiple pages of paperwork. Today after being our of town since Thursday evening I had an early appt for exams & mammogram. This appt took quite a while as Kaiser does sometimes. I then head to pick up my kiddos.(dogs) I arrived at 1230. I arrived at what I believe to be the owner barely greets me, asks name, says oh that's 6 days I was confused. I dropped them off Thursday @4pm. Today is Tuesday. Im thinking to myself & look at my calendar and ask her why is it so much? ((My other kennel that would have been 5 nights. 38x5=190.00 today was $244.00))... because I wasnt aware of policy & arrived at 12:30. She said " well you can leave them here and pick up before noon & it'll be the same price" I said " I wasnt aware I had to be here by 12". She showed me her paperwork that I signed. I asked if there was an hourly rate, "no we say 12 we mean 12". I learned a lesson when dropping off my dogs and completing MULTIPLE pages of paperwork I need to read EACH line. As a local business owner I do understand companies need policies. However for a 1st time customer whom already is paying for 5 nights I do not see the point in being so rude. "That's policy", you signed it" yep, 35 minutes after 12 costs me another $39.00 If the owner could be as helpful & kind as the employees this would most likely be the top kennel in the AV. I did like the convenience of proximity to my house, liked that for $12.00 ea time they will let my dogs out to play for 30 minutes. I came in contact with 3 different employees & they're probably the ones caring for my dogs, they were helpful & kind. I now know the rules & thankfully wont have a mammogram (hopefully) for another yr or two. Pricey *Lesson Learned* read more

Outstanding. This was the first time leaving our pups and my two daughters also left their pups at the same time with a total of six dogs for 5 days. I can't even tell you how accommodating and nice every single person there was with all of our questions and worries. Of course all six dogs aren't on the same schedule, diet, play level and don't have the same temperament etc but they did not blink an eye. This one doesn't like that one and this one can't eat that and this one is older and this one is a puppy... They accommodated every need we had. So I hadn't had a place groomers to find, with Covid around, being pregnant, moving to Lancaster it's been hard to groom my little ones. This place was recommended by one of my employees. She said they have great prices they care about the doggies. Well she was right, the place is spotless, they are friendly, they ask what kind of cut I want for my doggies, and best is the price is actually reasonable. My babies 6lb Mischa and 2 Lb Boss each were $45 (it's probably more if your dog is bigger, more area to cover and a bigger bite from your dog) my dogs don't bite and they're small. 45 covered the wash, haircut, nails trimmed. They came out looking great, smelling great w little cute bandanas. They were not super stressed. I will consider leaving them there if I leave town for a bit as long as they keep them indoors, my 2lb dog will freeze outside. He gets cold stepping out to poop in just 3 minutes. my family went to a family reunion, it was 4 days straight, arrived on friday, left monday. we left our dogs at ken kennels on thursday because my mom wanted to make sure we had everything ready and didn't want to stress about forgetting to take the dogs to a boarding school. when we got our dogs back on monday afternoon, our medium-sized dog laid on his cage bed. he started waging his tail when he saw me approaching. but that was it. the days after that, he moved to the couch and stayed in one spot. he became depressed and lethargic after staying there. they offer quality boarding services, but from what i can see that was not the case for my baby. i dont recommend taking your babies here if you wish for them to become similar to my dog. read more

I have been using this kennel for the past year and could not be happier. My German Shepherd had surgery a few weeks ago and just stopped his antibiotics 3 days before being dropped off at the kennel. He had a flare up of the infection and became swollen and an area where he had a drain began bleeding. They cleaned the area and put a hot compress on it. When we returned from our trip a couple days later he looked amazing. No swelling and all groomed with the area around the wound shaved so we could take better care of him. Update*** I received a call from ken Neil kennels about my review. I explained to her why I wrote it. And she kept saying so it's all a "misunderstanding" it wasn't a "misunderstanding" it was that the lady lied right to my face on the amount that she told me the day prior to pick up. I have never ever had an issue till that day about the amount. I always call ahead so I can go and get the right amount out before I pick up my dog. She never ever once apologized for the "misunderstanding" but made sure to tell me she would take us out of her books. Which is fine. We weren't going back. But I will say I have never had that kind of customer service ever. read more

Good kennel. The people seem to really like the animals and it looked like they were really working hard. A couple suggestions would be 1) to add an option to pay with debit/credit card- cash or check only seems a bit archaic and 2) just add the Xtra "yard time" charge to your overall prices- if I'm putting my dog into daycare for the day, I would hope that they would get out of their kennel at some point; yard play costs extra. read more

I have boarded my doggie twice now at Ken Neill Kennels. Very friendly staff. I was a little bit nervous nervous about leaving her with anyone else but they were very sweet with me and my pup. I opted for the extra play time with the other dogs and she came home worn out. Which is saying a lot with my high energy dog. Their customer service needs work. I called once to schedule my dog for doggy day care and the line had a busy signal. So I just took him in to see if by chance they had an available opening. They asked if I made a reservation, I said no and explained how their line had a busy signal. Instead of saying, oh I'm sorry about that and continue with getting him taken care of, the lady told me that next time they won't take him without a reservation. I then told her, well ensure your phone works. A few days ago, I called to set him up with getting groomed, the girl took my name and the dogs name, I told her I'd bring him by around noon. She said I was all set. I then take him in the next day, and the lady tells me, did they tell you to bring him between 8 and 10? I said no, that he was scheduled for noon. To which she replies, well the groomer is gone, she's only here between 8 and 10, can you bring him tomorrow between 8 and 10? To which I replied, I don't know I'll have to call you after I check my schedule. Suffice it to say, I'm taking him to Petsmart, turns out its cheaper, and its at 1pm. I never got an apology by the way for their employees miscommunication. I know they work with animals, but some politeness and manners go a long way with humans. read more
