It's been a few months since I've stopped by. The last time I came it was still koala kolache; so I didn't know what to expect. I got the SAUSAGE AND CHEESE KOLACHE and it was really salty. The kolache wasn't as fluffy and airy as I remembered it. I guess the change in name and ownership also changed the quality. I also got a GLAZED DONUT and a BLUEBERRY DONUT. Both doughnuts came out too sweet. The glazed doughnut came out hot and it was soft, but the sugar was overwhelming and the blueberry doughnut was a bit too cold and hard. I miss the old store. The kolaches were much better and the doughnuts were okay. I doubt I will be back. read more

Quality is not the same. I got 3 kolaches today and the jalapeño one I ate was stale. The sausage tasted old and chewy like a jerky...almost like they reused it and just put on new bread. Another Cypress Texas donut shop that lives up to its rating. Again I started off with a regular glazed and a glazed old-fashioned to set a baseline. Karma did both extremely well much like Panda. With a check in on yelp you get a free doughnut and they were more than happy to oblige without any attitude. The regular glazed was large and filling, light with a flavorful glaze. The old-fashioned has the same glaze but added a crunchy, denser offering that met all my expectations. The more unique and interesting (candy) and gourmet (brisket) kolaches will have to wait until next time. Another donut that is worth the drive. read more

I frequent this place very often since the day they opened. On Sunday February 26 early in the morning I went to get some donuts and Kolaches for my family . I attempted to get my usual order some kolaches and a blue donut with colorful sprinkles for my daughter. When I asked for the blue donut with sprinkles a Hispanic lady told "no we don't have it , we only have a blue donut without sprinkles" I asked her kindly if she could please throw some sprinkles on it since my daughter wanted that so bad, she said " no the icing is too hard " I insisted please just add some sprinkles then an Asian lady came and said the same thing bit of them with an attitude. I left karma Kolache very disappointed knowing that my daughter was not going to get her usual a blue donut with sprinkles. My family loves kolaches, so when I came to Houston to visit them, I had to find a good kolache place close to their home. Luckily for me, I found this place and it definitely did not disappoint. Coming in I was greeted by a guy working behind the counter. He told me a little but about the kolaches they offered and some of his favorites. I picked up about half a dozen koalches in all sorts of flavors, as well as a couple of donuts. The prices were decent and the donuts and kolaches were still warm. Most people I feel like come here for the koala kake aka the ice cream donut "kake". I love the concept and how it's aesthetically appealing, however I find the dough of the donut to be a little too dry. I wish it was glazed a bit or something. There's no sugariness to it besides the ice cream. I guess I can see how there's a balance though. HOWEVER, 5 stars bc the kolaches here make up for it. I always find myself coming back to my this place when I'm in the area. My 2 favorites are the smoked brisket and the boudin. You can easily get full off of 2. Maybe even 1. Karma Kolache is a hidden gem. No bright lights, no flashy sign, no ideal corner location, but who needs all that when you have awesome boudain kolaches? As you go in, you wonder what all the hubbub is about considering the minimal decor and simple seating, and if you take your food to go, you miss all the activity of many patrons coming in and out for the huge variety of kolaches. My personal favorite is the spicy boudain, but for those less adventurous, there are always the safe and timid choices. This place is not limited to kolaches though, the various other foods is amazing given the size of the establishment. Best of all, they have decent hours. Most kolache places close early in the afternoon, but not this one, thank goodness. I ordered corporate catering for an event, and the kolaches were a hit! The owner was nice enough to take our 50 kolache order a day before (6PM) and the order was ready 15 minutes early the next day 6:45AM which saved me loads of time commuting to the event. People were surprised at the massive size of the kolaches and the biggest hit were the brisket and "Real" sausage kolaches. Although everything went quick. The employees are super responsive and willing to work with you. As a result, we're catering with them again for double the order!
