The food here is great! It hits the spot for thai food cravings and its large portions as well. Service was kind of slow. This was a welcome spot on a cold, rainy spring night in Minneapolis. Traveling for work and ready to hunked down from the weather, I had this delivered to the hotel. Torn between ordering Karta Thai or a nearby Indian spot, I obviously opted for this spot and went with a Massaman Curry which has some influence of Indian cuisine. Best of both worlds. I ordered the spice level 3 out of 5 and it was perfect; not too spicy but added a great flavor to it. Also got some fresh spring rolls that were ok.. loaded up on Thai basil and mint so that was the overwhelming flavor, even more than the sauce it came with. This place seems like a hole in the wall but it is so good. Service was just "ok," but they were very busy during lunch and only had two waiters. I ordered the Shrimp Spring Rolls and the Chicken Pad Thai, which was on special. Everything was served fresh and was very delicious and seasoned well. I do wish that the Spring Rolls had more shrimp, but nonetheless they were good. I am also glad that they put the peanuts on the side (without me asking) for the Chicken Pad Thai dish. I like to control "how much" peanuts are used with this dish. Keep in mind, they do ask how much "spice" you want on a scale of 1-5. A nice, humble Thai restaurant in the heart of Roseville's shopping district. We ordered the pineapple fried rice and the pineapple curry, and the curry was the far and away favorite of the two. Full stars for service and presentation as well! The curry has a sweet heat to it, and is heartily portioned. Expect leftovers! We've always been fans of Karta Thai since their original restaurant in NE Mpls on Central, and then in Columbia Heights, and now in Roseville. Interesting fact about Karta Thai is that every time they move, they leave another locally owned excellent Thai restaurant in their wake. I'll have to say the food of course did not disappoint. Their consistency is something to behold. We ordered the Thom Yum soup with chicken as a meal to share, as we love to just eat that with rice. I just want to swim in that broth and I'd be in heaven. We also ordered Pad Mango with Shrimp and Leo Thai Beer. The Pad Mango was way too sweet this time. We had to take it home and dial it down. The service was always on point, as they are very friendly folks. The ambiance in this location was not so good though. Since I still remember this location as Taco Bell, it for real felt like I should be throwing down a beef hard taco. All they did was paint the interior and do some very minor things to the interior. OMG it just felt so weird I was wigged out the entire time. We're glad that they are open again and we found them, but dang we wished for a real build out...so we had to leave out one star for lack of a proper build out. But the food! read more

When I used to work at the El Torito down the road all those years ago- this place was always open after work. Pineapple fried rice was delicious and hit the spot. I have been here a few times and it's a nice cozy restaurant. The food is very good, especially like the egg rolls and pad Thai. I met with a friend and we ended up staying for 2-3 hours. Never did we feel any pressure to leave and the waiter kept our waters full . The prices here is really reasonable and the portion sizes are super generous . Karta Thai is a favorite place to order from at work, especially when we're stuck working on a Saturday. It's always delivered at the correct time. And they do an okay-good job with our large group orders. Sometimes there's a missing container of rice, but it's rare. And if there is a mix-up, they fix it. We each have our favorites. Some love the curry, I prefer the pork fried rice. I can shovel that stuff in....it's so good. Occasionally, we'll order something new to try. Sometimes it's a hit, other's it's a miss. One of my favorite places for pad Thai! Moved to the northern suburbs recently and love this place.

And... With all the high reviews on Google, as well as yelp, I had high hopes that this would be a local spot for me to get great Thai food, especially the curries and pad Thai. I am so disappointed. First I got the spring rolls, the fresh ones, with pork. They were the most loosely wrapped spring rolls that I have ever seen ever. I picked one up and a third of the contents spilled out of both ends. The ingredients were good and fresh, however, it fell apart after two bites. Then the pad Thai came out... but what an abyssmal execution of the dish. It was so dry, and the noodles were already breaking apart, as I was trying to eat it. The noodles weren't necessarily mushy, however, there was not nearly enough flavor, sauce, and I felt like I was only eating a plate full of cooked noodles with some weirdly cooked tofu. I had asked for a pad Thai with tofu, and I was disappointed both with the noodles and the pad thai. No seasoning and, they were breaking apart as I was trying to eat them. When I went to pick up the food she noticed this and automatically refunded me one of the orders (even though they had already prepared it). I'm warning you, drop your ego when it comes to spice level. Their spice levels are 1 thru 5 and my server warned me too, that it's "1-5 THAI spicy". While I checked my ego, I ain't no b!**h so a 4 it is. It's now a day later from when I ate and I'm still sweating . Stopped in for lunch but almost didn't, don't be fooled. The exterior seems overgrown but I think that the owners have focused on the food and the clean inside appearance. I had Pad Prick King curry and it was flavorful and spicy as it should be. The beef was ok, a little chewy, might have been better with tofu or chicken. The green beans should be and were the star in this dish. They were coated in the curry and the curry was not too wet. It tasted so good that the rice was just an extra vehicle for the curry in the bowl at the end. All was as it should be. The restaurant is small, but the fixtures and ambiance makes it feel cozy. This location was previously a fast food restaurant but without that knowledge I don't think it is evident. The staff were attentive, it was time well spent and they all seemed very kind. This was our first time trying Karta and we thought it was pretty good. We got the cream cheese wontons, lobster rolls, Tom kha soup, vegetable green curry and the walleye with the spicy curry sauce everything we got that had a spicy level selection we got spicy 3/5. The cream cheese wontons were really good but there wasn't much too them although that was the case I would still get them again. My mom said the lobster rolls were good but she liked the wontons better and wouldn't get the lobster rolls again. The Tom kha soup was spicy but very good. The vegetable green curry was very good I would for sure get it again. Lastly my mom said her walley was okay she liked her food but would want to try something different next time. Delicious, flavorful, authentic Thai with great happy hour deals. The Massaman Curry tasted very similar to what I ordered in Thailand on our honeymoon and they actually gave my (white) husband enough spice for once! (Especially surprising in the land of MN where ketchup is considered spicy haha). In contrast to a lot of other places in Minneapolis that claim to be Thai but serve sushi, this is the real deal.
