Road trips often lead to unexpected food discoveries, and Kasai Japanese Restaurant was definitely one of them. We were looking for a place with flavorful food, and this turned out to be an excellent choice. The menu offers a great variety of sushi, ramen, hibachi, and other Japanese favorites. I ordered the Hibachi, while the rest of our group enjoyed the Spicy Pork Ramen Bowls. We also shared the Man on Fire sushi roll, which was packed with flavor and was one of the highlights of the meal. The hibachi included a choice of soup or salad, and we all chose the salad. It was fresh and crisp with a delicious house dressing, but the real star was the house jalapeño sauce. It added the perfect amount of flavor and just enough heat without being overpowering. I found myself putting it on everything because it made every bite even better. The Yum Yum sauce was also excellent, but that jalapeño sauce is something I'll remember long after the meal. The service was equally impressive. Even though the restaurant was busy, we were greeted warmly, seated quickly, and our server was attentive from start to finish. The staff checked on us often, kept everything moving efficiently, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The restaurant has a comfortable, inviting atmosphere, and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. This was an unplanned stop that turned into one of the best dining experiences of our road trip. My Dad I took my sister and husband for their first time. My sis is really picky b/c she eats super clean ! She got the chicken hibachi and LOVED it ! Miso soup is okay but we all preferred the salad w their wonderful citrusy ginger dressing The wait staff is always excellent but they need help for the hostesses because there are so many Grub Hub drivers and Luther take-out orders to fill and that fell on our hostesses shoulders the night we arrived w reservations. We love supporting our local businesses, Kasai is our favorite spot for sushi and hibachi! We usually dine in but this time we ordered takeout out. Only 20 min and was ready when I arrived. I was immediately greeted, order confirmed, and payed. We love this place! We have been 4 times now, the last being a couple days ago. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is clean. The vibe is chill and the sushi is great! It was dinner night with the fam. My daughter was home from college and was jonesing for sushi. There are not a lot of great sushi shops near Medina, so we are in the process of hunting for local hot spots. We called ahead and upon arrival, despite the line, were seated immediately. Good call, I say. I had a Sapporo beer and we enjoyed some edamame. For dinner, my daughter and I split some sushi. I let her pick the rolls, but she insisted that I also provide input. We requested three rolls. My son requested chicken hibachi and my wife requested teriyaki chicken. A long while later, my wife received her meal. She waited a few minutes for our meals to be delivered, but they were not delivered timely. So she began eating, with pangs of guilt. About 15 minutes later, my son's chicken hibachi was delivered and he began to eat right away. Another fifteen minutes passed before our sushi was delivered. Our waiter apologized for the delay in the food as they were very busy. My wife rated her teriyaki chicken as five stars. My son gave his hibachi chicken four stars. My daughter and I would give sushi four stars. I'd definitely dine here again, but our hunt for epic sushi continues. read more

Absolute family favorite sushi spot. Yes, they are incredibly short-staffed, so be patient & kind. The food is worth the wait! The ambiance is beautiful inside, perfect for a date night. They do have two larger dining areas in the back, and, a sunken in dining room as well (you have to call and reserve well in advance, though). So sad to write this. I previously wrote this place a 5 star review. Covid has killed this place. 1 hour wait and there was at least half the restaurant empty. It was chaos even while waiting. People coming in for pick ups - people jumping the line. Once seated, it didn't get better. Soooo slow. Got 1 beer and was never offered another nor did the waitress stop by. This location is much better than others. Large and roomy inside with plenty of seating. The sushi roll wrapped in rice paper (can't remember the name) was amazing. It had tempura shrimp and avocado. Spicy. Crunchy. Sooo de-lish. Everyone at the table loved his/her roll, including my 80-something grandmother who was trying sushi for the first time. The service was very slow and we had to eventually flag someone down to get the check. Our server was very difficult to understand as well. My miso soup, while good on flavor, lacked tofu and green onion. Otherwise, this was a pretty great experience. I'd go back and get the exact same sushi roll. Oh! Met friends there tonight to have a good meal & chat about recent travel. It was quiet enough to actually have conversations / which is a minor point, but was important to us for this. The food was wonderful! We all ordered different things and all of it was superb. All the sushi tasted super fresh and the service was attentive and friendly. They have signs everywhere warning that there can be an up charge for wasted food, which was a little intimidating since we weren't sure how much to order, but there were no issues. I think they must just post that to ensure people don't take tons then waste it. A good experience! read more

This time, I got home delivery; I received delivery 11 minutes before the expected time and was so pleased with the driver. My food is hot and spectacular. This was my third visit to Kasai and it was quite different from the prior two which delivered great food and service. There were four of us; three meals were delicious but my vegetarian tempura was quite greasy I could not finish it. I ordered it because the past two times it was perfect. Although our server was friendly, he disappeared for long periods of time and the service was very poor. Each meal was delivered singly and separate from any other meal by at least 5 -10 min. The 4th meal was delivered 15- 20 min after mine. We had to eat separately as mine was getting cold.Paper from straws and chopstick covers left to accumulate and glasses not removed from the table so it was a sloppy mess. My friends and I used to come here all the time years ago for half off sushi on Sunday's. I was excited to come back after some time. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I remember. First off, the food was pretty decent. I had the Sushi Deluxe with 10 pieces of nigiri and a tuna roll, and it was pretty good. The presentation was weird: it arrived with what looked like freshly cut grass on top of the sushi (not appetizing). The main reason for my current rating though: the service was pretty bad. When we arrived, the hostess informed us there would a bit of a wait for the server to come to us (kinda weird right?). But we said ok, that's fine and sat down. I totally understand the server would be busy, so I'm not gonna complain about the fact that they took 10 minutes to come to our table and give us water. I knew that going in. But what I didn't realize was how bad the service would be after. Another table sat down beside us, and the waiter never stopped to check on them, offer beverages, or even water. They just got up and left after about 20 minutes, complaining that they were very hungry and no one had checked on them. The waiter didn't take our order until about 20 minutes into the seating, and our food didn't arrive until 1 hour after we sat down, and only half the food at that. I sat there with my food, waiting for the others to get their food, but eventually gave up. The rest of the table's food arrived 30 minutes after that (1.5 hours after we sat down). I'm not sure what takes so long, but sushi shouldn't take that long. During that time, we never got a container for the soy sauce, and the waiter never came to refill our water. All in all, we spent about 2 hours in the restaurant, most waiting for our food. I noticed that there was only 2 wait staff for the entire place (besides the hostess), so perhaps they were understaffed for the night. read more
