I felt uncomfortable from the moment I walked in. Communication was poor, and basic courtesy seemed to be lacking. It's important to feel respected and cared for--especially in a healthcare setting--and sadly, that wasn't the case here. I hope they take the opportunity to improve their patient experience moving forward. Again this was staff issue not dentist issue....but going to the dentist requires staff.

She frequently talked over me and cut me off before I could finish my questions or receive clear answers. That kind of interaction is frustrating and not what you expect from someone running the front office of a dental practice. There was also a communication issue during the appointment. The hygienist was not informed that I was receiving orthodontic treatment, so the cleaning was started without removing the braces first, which should have been addressed beforehand. That said, the back office staff was great. The hygienist was very informative and took time to educate me on proper care and how often certain treatments should be done. The doctor and orthodontic staff were also excellent--professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Overall, the clinical care itself was solid, but the front office experience and communication need improvement, as they set the tone for the entire visit.

I have never had issues with my teeth and due to them causing nerve damage now have 2 teeth that are dying. To make it even better I find out that the guy who pulled my wisdom teeth was not an ORAL SURGON! Then they try to send me a bill for $2500+. I refused to pay it as I had to pay $4k out of pocket to fix what they messed up. So they try and take me to small claims for it. My lawyer ended up settling the case but it has Long since (about 4 years) cause damages to my teeth I'm still trying to have fixed, and let's not mention the PTSD of having to go to ANY dentist. 10/10 don't recommend if you care about your mouth, money, and long term mental health when it comes to the dentist.

I've actually been a patient of Emily Ryu, DDS (her maiden name was Abbott) for many years but I used to go to her when she was at the Carus Dental location in Georgetown..yep, folks I live in north Austin but would drive to Georgetown just to see Dr. Ryu..I'm telling you she's a great dentist! Well, lucky me Dr. Ryu is now at the Carus Dental in North Austin & I just had my 1st visit at this Carus location on 2/6/2019 & I am so happy to report that Dr. Ryu is still her awesome self..she is so personable, very thorough, & does a great job explaining my treatment plan. The hygienist I had was named Christina and she was the perfect energy for me! You know how some hygienist talk too much, or hurt you while cleaning your teeth, or try to shame you if you're overdue on your cleaning?..well, Christina was none of those things..she was gentle and just put me at ease. I looked that up, and it's not a hard rule. My history does have an abnormal X-ray at one point but was followed by an OMFS (for a full year) and was cleared. I'm not currently working full time, but wanted to keep my mouth healthy. I'm not sure if I'll return. I forgave them for accidentally giving my information to someone a year ago (HIPPA violation). Sadly, I was not treated with the same compassion.

From the very first phone call, their customer service was amazing friendly, helpful, and efficient. When I arrived for my appointment, everything continued to go smoothly. The staff was kind, patient, and made me feel comfortable right away. I didn't have to wait long at all, which I really appreciated. The dentist took the time to go over everything with me and worked together with me to come up with a plan that made sense. The whole process felt easy and stress-free. I got a second opinion a few weeks later and was told that I had significant build up of plaque but that I most certainly didn't have periodontal disease. Very displeased with the approach to treatment.
