The wild bird was very flavorful (I think the sauce could be a little thicker as it kept dripping out) - fresh, solid ingredients. My husband enjoyed his spicy eggplant - great for vegans. My mouth is watering thinking about this sandwich again. I stopped by this place on the walk home to my friend's house, and it was actually one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I happened to go during happy hour. If you have a rewards account, they let you flip a coin, and if you get it right, then you get 50% off. I was so excited when I got it right. The guy working cheered with me. Super nice!! I got the green goddess Chicken Caesar sub, and it was SO GOOD!! The chicken was delicious. The flavors were perfect. I loved the crunch of the tomato. YUM-this place was soooo good. I had had a full day of wandering the Natural History Museum and hadn't had much to eat all day, so this place was a godsend. They had a great selection of meat and meatless sandwiches and salads and the meatball sub, which apparently is very popular, was calling to me. This was the best sandwich I've had in a while. Food: I ordered the special which was a riff on the Italian sandwich. I like that they prioritize making things with a healthy-ish spin but I just wished it had more of the traditional cold cuts you'd find like salami, capicola, mortadella, etc. The bread had a nice crisp banh-mi like exterior with a soft supple interior and the topping all felt in line with what I was expecting with different hits of subtle crunch, tart, and spice. The main meat on this was turkey and while very good, just didn't hit the same spark I was looking for. I also got to try a bite of the turkey meatballs which was decent! Prob the best a turkey rendition can be. I've heard a lot of great things about this place so I def want to try more of their subs. Service: Ordering was pretty simple and there's an option to do it on a counter or on the tablet on the side wall. Food came out quickly and without fuss. Open concept kitchen reveals some of the hardest working individuals in the business! They were absolutely slammed and kept moving to turn out the sandwiches! I decided to call an audible and went with their chicken pesto salad, the sandwiches looked awesome but it was hot out and a salad felt right. Dressing was delicious, whipped burrata was amazing and made the whole salad creamy, and then they hit me with a huge portion of tender and flavorful chicken. Absolutely delicious salad! So far, so good. I've gone in to order, and I've ordered online. Their bread is pretty freaking good (I think they use semolina? The crusty stuff that's the bomb lol) I ordered the chicken pesto, I did it online so I asked for no tomatoes. Lo and behold, they gave me NO tomatoes (so they listen lol). And I also tried the eggplant with burrata, and I may have found my new go to for eggplant parm. YUM! The eggplant isn't too thick, not stringy (I'm definitely picky about eggplant!). overall, i'm not the biggest fab of sandwiches. but this place is good, and i'm looking forward to trying more. Actually amazing turkey meatball sub. I was shocked, perfectly soft meatballs which is key when a sandwich is a vessel so they compress and don't fall out the bottom. Actually worth it for the price. Who loved Quiznos? ::raises hand:: I DID!!!! Now this isn't Quiznos in a lot of ways but it's very quiznosesque! The owner Andy had in mind a sandwich shop with the same concept but much better quality sandwiches! He created a shop that serves great quality food in the form of these delicious sandwiches that go through a toaster after the sandwich is made. It raises all kinds feelings of being excited to watch the sandwich take that trip through the visible toaster belt and waiting to see it come through the other side! And those lovely memories of growing up and heading to Quiznos after school for a perfectly toasted sandwich that is slightly crispy and warm on the outside, but still cool and intact on the inside. He makes a lot of the innards in house. Which is not something a lot of places do. And the bread is made in house! He has a whole sandwich factory in a sweet and neat little store. The store itself is extremely clean, you can see the care the owner takes in his creation. The turkey is maple cured in store. And the turkey bacon is made homemade and not salty at all like regular bacon! I was very happy to have bacon but not be flooded with salt that overtakes the flavors. The turkey meatballs are made in store! The sandwiches are light and you do not feel heavy or overfull after partaking in eating these nice but filling sandwiches. The owner had in mind to make a simple, health minded sandwich that is better for you with great ingredients that isn't like a regular deli sandwich and more fresh then other chain sandwiches restaurants. This is not a chain. It's a creation all on its own by the owner who lovingly had a great idea and clearly cares deeply about his production. You can see that. He is in store which I always feel makes a business successful! If you are craving a sandwich, this is a large step above getting one from a deli but has the same feel as a simple satisfying sandwich! Definitely a great place! Please try this! Sandwell is my FAVORITE sandwich shop. There is a wonderful variety of sandwiches, of which my family and I have tasted many of them. Our favorites include the Spicy Eggplant parm sandwich ( not too spicy) the Turkey meatball sandwich, the Green Goddess Chicken Caesar Sub and today I had the special sandwich of the month- the Tuna Melt ( It was really delicious!). Although this sandwich shop is meant for take-out, my husband and I stayed and ate our sandwiches there. This place is clean and neat- they actually wipe the tables and give you plenty of napkins. As a first-timer at Sandwell, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted and served by the owner himself. He was welcoming, explained his concept, and was all around nice. It was a tough choice, but I ordered a spicy eggplant sandwich and a side order of the truffled mushroom salad. Both very very delicious. My only teensy complaint/suggestion would be that the mushrooms came across as too salty for my palate. Of course, it's not a deal-breaker, just an alert to those who try to minimize salt in their diet. I look forward to returning in the new future to try some of the other options that I had to pass on this time. I live in the neighborhood, so it's an easy walk to and from. I've ordered from Sandwell 3 times now. My first visit was prompted by a craving for a turkey sandwich. I ordered the lunch box special. They did not skimp on the avocado mash or any ingredient really and the thick cut bacon is actually thick cut. Next I ordered the Sandy special for breakfast and the broccoli cheddar melt for lunch. Someone recommended the melt on my first visit. I figured I'd give it a try; it's not your typical sandwich. It was good but probably not something I'd order again. Recently I had the Morning Cobb. Of the two breakfast sandwiches this is my favorite. The blue cheese crisps are subtle, almost taste more like feta which I prefer. I finally got the multigrain bread. In my previous two orders despite asking for it I never got it. I think the sandwiches are well priced. I'm not sure where you can get a breakfast sandwich for 6 or 7 dollars. I spent $6 on a bagel with cream cheese this week! They also now offer a regular coffee for $1 with the purchase of a sandwich. All my sandwiches were to go. They have bar stools at the window or tables outside if you choose to dine there. When ordering it takes maybe 5-10 minutes for your order to be ready, a reasonable amount of time. read more
